You May Be A Democrat If ...
Net

Posted on 01/10/2003 7:23:20 PM PST by Mentos

If you have ever used the phrase "protecting prisoner's rights".

You've ever referred to the Military/Industrial Complex during a conversation.

All of your 1970's "Beware of Global Freezing" signs now have "Beware of Global Warming" on the back.

You've ever argued that "you can't legislate morality".

Referred to the Founding Fathers as "those aristocratic, chauvinistic, lily white, slave owning, land stealing oppressors of indigenous personnel".

You argued that a few more months of sanctions and Sadam Hussein would fold like a rookie poker player.

You've ever said "But look at all the good Ted Kennedy has done for the women of this country!"

If you find yourself nodding vigorously and saying "someone finally said it right" during an episode of Oprah.

You've ever stared at a wall and said "Now THAT is definitely man's inhumanity to man!"

You argue that the Second Amendment only refers to Federally organized militias.

You view Jane Fonda as a courageous heroine with strong convictions.

You've ever referred to "the glass ceiling."

You know 2 or more people with "concrete proof" that the Pentagon is covering up: Roswell the Kennedy assassination the CIA's role in creating AIDS.

You ever based an argument on the phrase, "But they can afford a tax hike because..."

You've ever argued that with just 1 more year of welfare that person will turn it around and get off drugs.

You keep count of how many people you know in each racial or ethnic category.

You believe that an elected official attending religious services is a violation of the separation of Church and state.

You feel that Green Peace is misunderstood.

You think communism will catch on once society has evolved.

You've tried to argue in favor of anything based on "Well, they're gonna do it anyway so...."

You've ever stated "How does what he does in his personal life have any bearing on doing his job?"

You know of the stockpile of biological weapons in Iraq, but think that the US is wrong for not signing the land mines treaty.

You believe that Protestants would be appalled at the idea of hearing a Catholic prayer, that Christians in general would be offended to hear Ramadan discussed in school in the same way that they would like to hear Christmas discussed, and in general that religious people are just as bigoted and intolerant of each other as you are of religious people.

You think those stupid ribbons actually accomplish something.

You feel that being convicted of treason is an infringement on your first amendment rights.

You think it is ok for a President to commit perjury on his sex life, but criticize Dan Quayle for spelling potato/potatoe wrong.

You sang along to "Give Peace a Chance" during the Gulf War.

You've ever said, "We really should call the ACLU about this."

You can't talk about foreign policy without using the word conspiracy.

The closest you've ever actually been to a rain forest is a Sting concert.

You think solar energy is being held back by those greedy oil companies.

You think the Great Society has actually worked.

You think Ayn Rand is an African currency.

You get goose bumps when Barbra Streisand sings for Bill.

You think the Free Market is where they hand out Government cheese.

You believe personal injury lawyers when they say they are just trying to defend the little guy.

You know that those profit mongering drug companies could find a cure for AIDS if they really wanted to.

You actually believe the NY Times and Washington Post.

You actually believe that Clinton has created 4 million jobs.

You actually think that poverty can be abolished.

You think that Joan Baez had something to say.

You admire the Swedish welfare system.

What a great summary of the Dem philosophy. I'd love to put that on a t-shirt and add it to my company's line of conservative shirts. It would go well with our Definition of a Liberal shirt - "Liberal: Someone so open minded their brains have fallen out." Does anyone know the source/copyright to that list?

Take out this one and I agree with all the rest. Having spent years around AF Materiel Command, those words are frequently used for AFMC depots and those that use are are not RATs for the most part!

All of your 1970's "Beware of Global Freezing" signs now have "Beware of Global Warming" on the back.

I remember that load of bull well. The author of a number of interesting books, James Aubrey (I think) wrote one about "The Coming Ice Age". That was as convincing then as Global Warming is now. Next came the spray can and CFC's.

There is no end to the list of fears these neurotics on the left have about the world. As Michael Savage claims, liberal is just another name for being mentally ill.

The up and coming theory of the day is that global warming will cause an ice age to occur.

That is quite a list. I must tell you thou, I am a Democrat. A real true conservative democrat, serving my country in a hot place I don't want to be.

I don't espouse much of the things in your list, but let me give you some things that I do think are pertinent.

The military industrial complex is alive and well. I see the same logos that I have seem for 30 years in every war torn place on the globe.

I guess the second ammendment thought it was ok that ordinary citizens should own armor piercing ammunition an automatic weapons.

I don't believe in abortion on demand or homosexuality.

The taxes on cigaretters, gasoline, and wages should stay high, but lets give a break to the investment crowd.

The welfare state you talk about is a serious problem. So lets stop the benefits after a couple years to quicly fix a mess it took us 40 years to create. I wonder if crime, homelessness and drug use will go up or down in the inner-cities. Of course I am sure you have not been in those neighborhoods lately.

I don't believe in a conspiracy around every corner, but I think so many Republicans are acting like so many Democrats and they follow their leaders blindly. Why?

I think unions served a purpose in the country once and then got out of control. But now we have federal laws that are ignored. You know anyone who has been fired for no cause or maybe their age? Bet you do. Or how about massive layoffs during times when the CEO of a company got a huge bonus? Happens in Rep and Dem administrations alike, but why does it happen?

I could go on and on.

You make good points, CE. These things get passed around the Net frequently, sometimes with just a name change from Democrat to Republican, or a couple of years ago, from Gore to Bush. Don't take it too seriously.

BTW, my mom was a Dem from a politically active union family. Salt of the earth, that bunch, all dead and gone, more's the pity.
