Thanks for posting this! Weinberger nailed it. Rangel and Conyers are no supporters of the military of this Country -- just the opposite IMO!

This would actually be a great campaign issue. Republicans could even draw left wing voters using this since most of the people on the left are cowards anyway. Let the GOP keep hitting on the theme that the RATS want to send them, and/or there kids to fight in wars, then remind them of all the Clinton military actions and of all the battles going on in the world that dems would be sending there kids off to (think somalia). People already have more faith in the GOP in terms of defense, this would be icing on the cake for a campaign issue.

Let them push it......Bill Clinton will hear of it and go to Canada. Oh wait, he already dodged the last one and is now too old.
Forget it. </sarcasm

They bitch and whine about minorities bearing most of the burden of serving in the military and then hypocritically claim that there are not enough minorities serving in Special Operation Units.

Amazing. In the 60's the left complained that the draft wasn't fair to blacks and the poor. Now they are whining that voluntary service isn't fair to blacks and the poor. Is there a pattern here with these jerks? Hmmmm?

Is there a pattern here?
Yes:
a. It ramps up their sixties nostalgia.
b. The left believes that they OWN minorities and the poor.
Helps to remind them that damn few republicans owned plantations in 1861 either.

To anyone in Congress proposing a draft: I hope you intend on your kids being the first to go. No loopholes for them.

VERY well stated - kinda shines the light of truth on these liberal losers!
Stay vigilent, stay armed, and never trust a muslim or a liberal (both are terrorists, they differ only in technique and weaponry).

Terrific commentary by Cap Weinberger, however, I seriously doubt we're going to make any real headway in this so called war on international terror without enormously increased military manpower. Whether those manpower requirements can be met with volunteer forces remains to be seen. Probably could with skillful leadership out of Washington. On the other hand, there is much to be said for recruiting (drafting) those that wish to live in this country into her military service during times of national emergency. Those that do not wish to serve...Baldwins, Clintoons, etc...can get the hell out...and no jimmy (pisspot) carter amnesty either. In conjunction with any military draft enactment should be legislative prohibition of any amnesty/repatriation of those fleeing the country to avoid military service. With youngsters from families from all social strata in the military, the sense of national emergency is brought much closer to home. Those who would otherwise continue to persue their silly lifestyles would have much greater focus on the national emergency with their own family members at risk. The country would be much improved if those NOT wishing to defend her left with NO possibility of return.
