The Israel Defense Force's commanders and soldiers congratulate Colonel Ilan Ramon, the first Israeli astronaut on his successful launch into space as a team member of the Colombia Space Shuttle.

Col. Ilan Ramon's historic flight serves as a special occasion of great significance that highlights the warm friendship of the United States and Israel.

The Colombia Space Shuttle mission is an illustration of yet another facet of the international cooperation in complex research expanding human knowledge.

i'm glad the satellite was safely launched. having an israeli on board could have served as a lightening rod for terrorists.

Three cheers for our ally, Israel! The only thing that worries me is that NASA may try to prove that it is diversity minded by having Ahab the Arab on a future shuttle flight. Problem is, they would have to lower the requirements quite a bit.

Headline would read something like this: "Kareem Hareem Celebrated as First CamelNaut!"

An Arab on a shuttle flight? NASA has already seen one shuttle blow up. They don't want to see another.

Ramon was one of the fighter pilots that blew up the Iraqi nuclear reactor in 1981. Cool.

Already been done with the Saudis a few years ago.
