I have heard Miller call himself a liberterian & voice some conservative ideals so I don't think this is anything new. As far as his comedy is concerned, I have heard him described as being "too hip for the room". So if you think he is funny I guess you are very "hip". AS for me, I think am just hippy.

Yeah, but I'm fully convinced that in ONE season, Miller learned more about football that Madded did in THIRTY.
Well John, what do the Packers need to do to win today?
JM: I think that they just gotta put more points on the board then the other team.
When my team is on MNF, i mute the TV and turn on the radio.
John Madden makes you dumber.

I just read somewhere, a quote from Miller-he had never been to a football game of any kind-in his entire life!!What were they thinking at MNF??!! That the rest of the world would never find out that Eisner nixed Limbaugh and his 18 MILLION listeners over PC.

He wrote in his book that Clinton leaving the White House was like "Kid Rock leaving the Motel 6". I hadn't heard that before. Too funny!

Glad to hear a recommendation for the show... If I can catch it, I will. Comedy is the hardest art I think...
I think it is a mistake to try to put him in a box and label him as a conservative this week, liberal next week when he says something "wrong".
He is a man like most people, who think about issues individually, not party platforms like political junkies do. Sometimes you will agree, sometimes not.
I think he is usually funny, even when I may not agree, his comments about the humor of situations are usually spot on. And I love his used of 50-cent words when a 25-cent word would have worked.

I thought Politically Incorrect was hosted by Bill Maher.

Actually, it was anybody but Rush! Too bad Dennis had to suffer for the idiocy of the left.

He smokes, too? Good enough for me.

Say what you want about Dennis Miller, I still can't get past his making fun of Bob Doles' hand. The one with the pen in it. Miller did a skit, on Doles hand, which was wounded in the war. I thought it was tasteless.

... by and large, he's conservative...difficult to believe - I usually clicked through him when he appeared on HBO - may stop and watch awhile when he shows up again....

ROTFLMAO ping and BTTT.
I'll never forget when he had Christopher Hitchens (sp?) on his show. Hitchens was going on an on about how Clinton was a rapist. Miller looks at him in amazement and says"Let me know what it feels like to be gang audited".

...and I can tell you exactly when he underwent his conversion--when he had children. It was a sea change transformation.
I would be a real fan were it not for his wholly unnecessary vulgarity. He is way too bright to have to rely on profanity as a comedic crutch.

The last thing I want to do is go see a comedy act that I have to go home and do some research to figure out what he was saying and wether or not it was funny. I see where you are coming from. I like all types of comedy from dry British type humor to Adam Sandler immaturity. I like that sometimes Miller says something that makes you go "Huh?"
From the good people at snpp.com:
ComicBookGuy: We are hardly nerds. Would a nerd wear such an irreverent sweatshirt? [open his jacket to show off his shirt]
Lisa:[reading the shirt] "C:/DOS C:/DOS/RUN RUN/DOS/RUN". [laughs] Oh, only one person in a million would find that funny.
Frink: Yes, we call that the, "Dennis Miller Ratio."

I liked him because he let Steve Allen guest host his old talk show (and even had Steve co-host when Dennis was really too sick to talk; guest band leader was Screamin' Jay Hawkins).
Good to hear some jokes on the other side of the fence for once (in the 1990s, some thought it was enough of a punchline to say "because he's a Republican").
I do my part to curb the problems of carribou; ever have a carribou burger? Mmmmm.

LtLFtO, welcome to FR. Just the other day I was talking with a friend about Dennis Miller and how it seems he has come to the right since he has had his show on HBO. You can see it in his opening monologue but it really comes out during the interview segment when he has a leftie on. It has been interesting to watch.

Miller's HBO show wasn't cancelled actually. It had been on for a number of years and he finally decided to call it quits.
I particularly liked the credits for the final show which ended with the following:
Next Week's Guest: Godot.
To: Texas_Jarhead
Did you see him recently on Conan, Leno, or Lettermen?
He openly said the part about not liking democrats ever since they tried to make Guliani out to be a bad guy.

I saw his HBO show during the Dole/xlinton campaign. He really took off on the left, saying that they should be bowing down and honoring this man who made such a sacrifice for his country that he was now disabled. Dole was a war hero, and they could only think of making fun of him. I believe the SNL skit was something he had to do at the time, and this was his way of answering that. (He should have refused to do the skit instead, maybe?) Since then, I have had a greater appreciation for his humor than I had before.
