Does that negate it ? Does the fact that for many centuries, even millenia, some things have been considered to be wrong, make it now correct ? How about murder ?

Self control, my son

I don't have any trouble controlling myself and that is not the point. It's about (and I know you know what I'm going to say and please be honest) all those people (especially kids who aren't old enough to make a choice until it's all over) who are turning into jerks and criminals. And don't give me any crap about watching junk for thousands of hours a year doesn't have any effect. Obviously it doesn't effect everyone equally.

So is your philosophy "i'm okay so it doens't matter if the rest of society is being destroyed"?

PS I have never been any mother's son. At least not in this life.

Mangling? You've lost your humor in old age. - Pity

Get some rest now, - you'll be less cranky in the morning.
- And, your memory will be better. Not as good as mine however. I'm 99.1%

No, it's based on self control, my dear, -- if necessary, abstinence from the fleshy pleasures of TV, books, movies, etc.

Looks like the anything-goes-atarians have you on their automatic alert list.

...but they never come up with anything new. Perhaps that's why they are perpetual 1/2 of 1%ers.

LOL!

tp, in regards to humor, you haven't a clue as to what constitutes it and what doesn't. You aren't funny and no amount of sleep, will make you seem funny to me, after peaceful repose.

You left Minn. because of Babe ? Those biplanes, that you folks call mosquitoes, up there, would drive anyone away. ;-)

tsk, tsk, tsk ... didn't want to shame you, but my memory is 100%; you can't compare and have proven so, time and time and time again here. LOL

No, it's based on self control, my dear, -- if necessary, abstinence from the fleshy pleasures of TV, books, movies, etc. will work wonders on delusions that "society is being destroyed"

I'm an "adult" male, an almost "seasoned" citizen, I thought the Miller ad was FUNNY. The end where the two guys are talking about how it would make a good ad, and the way their female friends react, is FUNNY.

I'm a woman, and I thought it was funny, too. And guess what? I saw the ad on CNN news and nowhere else, because I live in the UK.

Bozell has played directly into the hands of the advertising he despises by giving it more "play." The ads have people talking, if only to criticise them, which is exactly what ad agencies LOVE. Free airings and free publicity.

Ads people like don't necessarily sell products. Remember the mystical Nissan ads a few years ago with the weird older asian man? People remembered them and they won some awards, but Nissan sold fewer cars.

The ad business is strange indeed.

Where on earth do you live? It seems you live in CA? It doesn't bother you that kids are being taught that buggery is normal and natural in CA schools? It doesn't bother you that kids are practicing oral sex on each other? It doesn't bother you that young teenagers and preteens are sometimes murdering people? It doesn't bother you that in the last 30 -40 years illegitimate births have skyrocketing, that so many children live without fathers, etc? What about teenage drug use?

Maybe you ought to spend some time walking around downtown SF if you vainly imagine that society is not getting more and more degraded. Downtown SF should clear your addled brain.

I'm coming to the conclusion that libertarians are stupider than liberals. I'm sorry that I am driven to name call but libertarians never answer my challenges with facts; just drivel and slogans. In fact, trying to have an honest debate with a libertarian is like trying to have an honest debate with my pro-abortion pro-homo anti-gun dope smoking sister.

Absolutely true.

Even the most talked-about ads don't sell bad beer very well. :)

The Guinness ads are very good in Europe, but Guinness doesn't really NEED ads.

There's a very good ad for Stella beer in the UK. It's set sometime in the past and a town doctor cares for all of these plague victims, picking up corpses on the street, caring for them when no one else will, etc.

He walks into a pub, and they pour him a beer and put it on the floor in front of him. A vicar walks in and has a sip of his beer after him to show he's not afraid, and then everyone starts drinking his beer. So he coughs to get it back.

Brilliant!

Did I say it negated it?

Does the fact that for many centuries, even millenia, some things have been considered to be wrong, make it now correct ?

Was I talking about the morality of anything in pop culture? You seem to assume that if I disapprove of censorship, I must approve of what isn't censored. Which makes you pretty unAmerican.

The "legal" basis for repeal of Liberal/Socialist Laws is the hangman's noose. A few of us get on are "horses", have rope, find tree, find Liberals and Socialists, then act. After this we can return to a wonderful constitutionalist government.

Exactly. They just can't get it around their heads that not everything that is "bad" should be prohibited by government force.

Rate the commercials for adult content. Someone will invent software to block the commercials. The ad agencies will see their ad revenue drop and they will quit making the commercials.
