The President will say exactly what he intends to do about the borders... not a damned thing.
To: Sabertooth
the Republican Party elites in Washington continue to turn a blind eye. As grass-roots conservative stalwart Phyllis Schlafly has noted, the Republican National Committee's mail-order surveys on important national issues omit immigration and border security. Meanwhile, the White House refuses to meet with the Congressional Immigration Reform Caucus, led by Republican Congressman Tom Tancredo of Colorado.
Why is it necessary for President Bush, before he goes after Iraq, to be such a complicit, Clintonian appeaser when it comes to the sovereignty of our own borders?

What about the Canadian border? There's absolutely nothing up there. No border patrol. Nothing. They'd just switch from coming in from the south to using the north.

The democrats have castrated the republicans in this point. Neither party wants to enforce immigration law because they would look like anti-foreigner bigots.
I still say that the non-border is probably the easiest way to smuggle weapons of mass destruction into the USA. I don't know how good the Canadians monitor who is coming into their country, but if its decent, then the southern border would be the easiest way to smuggle in a NUKE.
All a terrorist organization would have to do is have a few terror cells in Guatemala or Mexico, have these advance units secure transportation. When the smuggling unit comes in, off they go in a Ford Explorer, loaded with food, water, and the NUKE, and they cross the porous Mexican border into the US.

Just scatter "matricula" ID cards along the border.
Then everyone's "documented".
Problem solved.
(What's Arabic for "matricula" ?)

As a matter of fact I rerceived an RNC survey today. I looked it over then put it aside. After reading this I looked at it once more. Sure enough, nothing about borders or immigration. I can't believe I didn't catch that the first time I persued the survey.

This is the greatest outrage in American history. Our government refusing to protect us from invasion. It's unheard of in the history of the world.
To: Sabertooth
A simple shoot to kill policy for anyone sneaking across our borders and the problem is solved in one week. But with a govt that cares more about itself and its own power, nothing will be done. Nothing!

I can't even stand to hear the sound of Bush's voice. The sense of revulsion I experience is as bad as it ever was when I heard Clinton's voice, maybe worse.
A Republican president and congress and you wouldn't even know. Only the voice changed while everything else stayed the same, or got worse.

>>Nevertheless, the Republican Party elites in Washington continue to turn a blind eye.
But what's the answer? There are a gazillion miles of border. Has anyone come up with a cost effective, workable solution?

OK Freepers, it's time to act. I sent this article to my Senate and House representatives along with my DEMAND that they do their job and protect Americans here at home. Then sent to President Bush with same comments AND that Americans were losing faith in him due to his continued avoidance of this serious problem. We need to flood Congress and the White House with demands for action. Let them know what we think. If you say "it won't do any good", I don't agree. We must continue to fight for our security.

I would have to agree with you. He's a TOTAL sellout. That crap with posing in front of the fake "MADE in USA" signs yesterday pushed me past my limit.
I can handle any truth. I am absolutely repulsed by someone who bullsh!ts me, though.
If protecting ones own borders is NOT priority #1, then the big guy should resign. Pure and simple.
I will not vote for him again, I feel I've been sold down the river.
Whenever I see him on the TV, I grab the remote and change the channel. That's sad, 'cause I thought with the ouster of Klintoon, those days were over (for a while)....I thought wrong, and am extremely disapointed by G2.
