Dominick Dunne began telling his tale of Gary Condit, Chandra Levy, the horse whisperer and the Middle Eastern procurer sometime in the fall of 2001. It was tantalizingly baroque; Mr. Dunne, the Vanity Fair columnist, mesmerized a group of New England newspaper editors with it over lunch at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut in November 2001.

He also spun the story for Laura Ingraham, the lawyer, conservative commentator and syndicated radio host, over lunch. Ms. Ingraham promptly invited Mr. Dunne to repeat it on her show, which he did.

As chronicler of the crimes of the rich, Mr. Dunne has become a celebrity himself. At 77 he is a prolific author, producing both keenly observed court reporting and best-selling novels. His knack for getting face time with the famous and his passionate advocacy for crime victims have made him a staple on shows like CNN's "Larry King Live." He is the host of his own program on Court TV

Root for Dunne, he's a great guy. He brought Michal Skakel to justice.

He had a daughter who was murdered in her apartment - New York City - a number of years ago; I think by her boyfriend, but cannot remember details. . .

He has 'been there'. . .

Condit's lawsuit is a joke. It seems to me that the first thing Dunne's lawyer's probably did is notice Condit's deposition. I doubt Condit wants to spend a couple days under oath answering quetions about his relationshiop with Ms. Levy and perhaps others.

Nick's daughter was Dominique, murdered at age 23.

There re many websites dedicated to her by her fans.

Interesting; after all these years. . .

. . .hope he wins over Condit; given the latter's slimy/sordid reality, it would appear that Condit has little in fact, to lose over this story.

Surely, not his reputation. . .

If I remember correctly his daughter was an actress who played the oldest daughter in the original "Poltergiest". She was strangled by her boyfriend in her apartment. I could be wrong however, its been many years.

Seems to me that Monty Roberts, at least, should have kept his mouth shut. I imagine that by talking that way he lost himself a very lucrative gig with those sheikhs whose horses he consults on in the Middle-East. Silly man in so many ways.

Condit is a public figure, and as such, is open to criticism and less-than-complimentary opinions. These remarks by Dunne do not rise to the level of libel or slander, especially for a politician and congressman. Dunne was merely exercising his First Amendment rights to hold and express an opinion.

The standard of proof for libel regarding a public person is much higher than for an ordinary citizen.

Lin Wood is a sleazy lawyer who has made a career, of late, of shaking down publishers and writers for quick and easy settlement of these types of bogus and frivolous suits.

The Georgia Bar should look into this guy and his lack of ethics.

Look at his clients--John and Patsy Ramsey and Gary Condit. Shouldn't OJ be in there somewhere, too?

I think one reason why he is so fearless in his pursuit for justice is because of his age. Age emboldens one, because what in the heck can they do to you then that would even matter.
