"From what I hear, there was a large Hispanic vote for Republicans. I think our community has said we are intrigued by their efforts to reach out to the Hispanic community, and we are going to give you a chance," Mr. Wilkes said.

Adios Dem future.

"I don't think we are in touch with the average American on the economic issues,"

Yeah, but at least you're in touch with the average Frenchman, Belgain, and Sweede.

The Republicans are smart to promote conservatives, rather than pandering to liberals. It is vital to the future of this nation that the idea of members of minority groups being conservative be legitimized. Conservatism should be seen as normative across the board.

Seems as though the Ds just can't do anything but _iss and _oan about everything the Rs do but with no response of their own. Unfortunately for them, there are many conservative minorities Dubya has to choose from for many positions and the Ds are just flabbergasted! Clinton had an opportunity to put the 1st Hispanic on the Supreme Court but listened to Hitlary...again...Rino, etc. Enough said...Estrada is a fine man and I just hope he's voted in asap and then will be a SCJ in waiting.

"I think the Democrats, quite frankly, are trying to figure out who is going to be the front-runner for the party instead of trying to hammer out an agenda for the party," he said.

Democrat: "Hey, I got an idea. What if we put together an agenda that based on the Constitution, benefits all Americans, and really is pro United States?."

DNC: "Bwahahaha...oh, you were serious?"

Some say they long for Bill Clinton's ability to shape and market the party's message better.

What a nice way to say that "he (Clinton) is a very good lier"!

"Other Hispanic and Latino leaders privately say that Senate Democrats are being pushed into opposing the conservative judicial nominee by the party's liberal constituencies, including feminist groups, pro-choice Democrats, and civil rights organizations such as the NAACP. "

I just love it when they start eating their own.

My dream is that Mr. Estrada's nomination is confirmed then he starts talking about the need to close the borders.

"The message isn't clear so that the average American can identify with it. I don't think we are in touch with the on the economic issues,"

Would that be the "regular American" discussing issues at the "kitchen table?"

"But his biggest complaint is that the party has not put forward a clear, compelling and visible alternative to the president's agenda..."

How long has this been the excuse?

When are they gonna figure it out? Everyone comprehends their alternatives just fine...and they've promptly dismissed them as being Liberal dreams out of pace with the current realities.

Pure denial mixed with a desperate longing for the Clinton Glory Days.

How sad.

The message isn't clear so that the average American can identify with it

The message is clear enough. Nobody is buying it

LOFL, translation: Democrats long for another smooth liar.

You really have to shake your head at the utter stupidity of the Democrat "leadership". They are alienating a very sizable voting block, the Hispanics, all because of their irrational fear of any judge who takes the US Constitution seriously.

It is my opinion that the Republicans should coldly and relentlessly smash the scumbag Democrats over the head with this fiasco until the anti-Hispanic mindset of the Democrat party becomes "conventional wisdom". This Democrat filibuster of an appelate court nominee - - the first ever - - staggers the mind. The Republicans, especially Bush's people, are playing the Democrats like a fiddle. You have to marvel. They must be laughing their behinds off over champagne.
