The NYPD is on the lookout for individuals armed with "conventional or improvised weapons" who may unleash a devastating attack on the city by concealing deadly chemicals in light bulbs or fire extinguishers, The Post has learned.

A four-page alert issued by the NYPD's counter-terrorism unit to cops over the weekend warns officers to keep their eyes peeled for "unusual conditions and activities" that may be a prelude to an attack.

"Cops also were told the deadly poisons sarin gas and cyanide could be contained in a list of specific household items -- light bulbs, soda bottles, aerosol spray cans, fire extinguishers, briefcases or mayonnaise jars."

I have a very creepy feeling that the peace rallies this weekend are a prime target for this type of weaponry. Large groups of people in close quarters.

God help us all.

There you go, NYPD—be on the lookout for briefcase-carrying men who recently shaved. You should be especially alert for these men downtown and on the subway in the morning. The terrorists are as good as caught...

Police officers are to be on the lookout for men who appear freshly shaven with cuts or nicks -- which could indicate a beard has just been removed -- as well as anyone with ill-fitting uniforms or "unfamiliar forms" of identification.

...and for God's sake use the best tool available for identifying these maggots... racial profiling.

Forgive me if I do not shed tears for these protestors if they are targeted for they are the allies of those who would kill Americans.

I can understand such anger. But I do not agree with your sentiment.

It'd be hard to resist gloating, especially given the delicious irony. I'll try, though.

...racial profiling.

That wouldn't be "fair". Better a million Americans dead, than to be accused of discrimination, don't you know? </sarcasm>

Yeah, there is still a lot of mystery concerning that anthrax attack. It looks like that is where all this is going.

I assign my very unprofound comment for the day to the above news:

I was in NYC two months after 9/11 and the cops and military police were everywhere. Going into and out of town our airport suttle bus was stopped at a tunnel, where there were military vehicles with machine guns and armed troops checking the outside and inside of our bus.

On the following Monday a plane crashed on takeoff from JFK and they weren't sure if it was more terrorist action or not. I remember how jumpy the cops were that day. I worked hard to get out of town on a flight out of LaGuardia (sp) and the military had their assualt rifles (with clips) and the police had riot shotguns with extra ammo belts for shot shells.

I'll bet that the police will be on his visibility and that crime goes down to a really low level for the next few days. I just hope that no innocent people get shot.

Exactly the sentiments expressed by my family insisting I sit this one out. Snow is forecasted and I hope we get a blizzard so all will stay home. There's talk they may strike after their holiday ends on Thursday. God help us all.
