Look who lost the revolution

On Valentine's Day, one might ask: What's love got to do with it?

Answer, "not much," if you are a very young woman or girl and having sex with a whole lot of guys.

Apparently that description fits enough middle and upper-middle-class educated suburban girls these days that even the oh-so-politically correct Washington Post was a bit - just a bit - scandalized.

There writer Laura Stepp wrote recently of an 11th-grader in a very affluent suburb of Washington who, like apparently so many other girls her age, had regular "buddysex," or sexual encounters with so-called "friends," "in this case a half-dozen private-school boys, no strings attached." As this young girl described it, ". . .I didn't' even think of having a serious relationship. There was no romance. None." No intercourse, mind you, but lots of oral sex. That, according to Stepp, is no longer seen as sex by adolescents. And no, it's not all Bill Clinton's fault.

Welcome to the "girl hookup" culture.

Dozens of girls described it for Stepp.

A senior at one suburban Washington high school said, "she knows only three girls at that school who are involved in serious relationships. That's it. For most of the rest, hooking up is it."

Were some of them exaggerating? Undoubtedly. But this is a widespread phenomenon. As Pia Nordlinger outlined it for the "Women's Quarterly," (a publication of the independent Women's forum in Arlington, Va.) "...College these days is all about 'hooking up.' A 'hook up' is a night of naughty romping that may or may not include sexual intercourse. The 'relationship' usually ends when the girl tiptoes out the door next morning."

Both the Washington Post and the Women's Quarterly report that alcohol, specifically binge drinking, is a huge part of the "hook up" culture.

That may be one reason that in 1997 almost one-third of college women revealed in the Details Magazine "Sex on Campus" survey that "they had had sex with someone they didn't even like." Ouch. Why? "It just happened," they typically said.

Nordlinger is explicit in describing the scene. She went to many college campuses and discovered that "hooking up" was typical, but "dating" was an almost nonexistent phenomenon of the past. "When it comes to sex, a young man entering college today has it made" she writes. "He won't have to shell out for flowers, a pricey dinner or a sappy chick flick. He won't even have to call her the next day. Guess who won the sexual revolution?"

Indeed. (At least the guys think they won. It seems to me this is a game where both sides lose.)

In any event, both reporters found young women and girls over and over again wistfully longing for a little romance, a little courting, maybe a few flowers and yes, a call the next day. But rarely to any avail.

Interestingly, girls are not becoming more promiscuous, writes Stepp. In fact while more high school girls are having oral sex than 10 years ago, fewer are having sexual intercourse - 43 percent in 2001, vs. 51 percent in 1991. It 's just that now, the guys don't even pretend to be romantically interested in them.

It was probably inevitable that the "sexual freedom" that reached college campuses decades ago, and has now enslaved a generation of young people to the meaning of "it just happened," has crept down into the high schools and grade schools as well.

So, now what?

Well first, we need some moms and dads to step forward.

I'd be willing to bet these same girls who "wistfully long for a little romance," are the same girls who turn guys who ARE romantic with the "you're too nice, let's be friends" line.

Hey... welcome to the fruits of feminazi disdain for men. And men's attitude is why get married if you can milk the cow for free? I'm sure there are women out there who do want love, marriage and children but my sympathies are wasted on those women who prostitute themselves to any guy like a two bit street hooker. In that case they're getting exactly what they deserve.

And you wonder why they open their mouths for Bill Clinton look alikes and then are left out to hang and dry...

The great Leo Durocher had the perfect foil for this BS.

When he picked up a woman for a date, he'd ask them flat out if they were going to put out!

If the answer was no, he drove off. He was not good-looking but had no time to waste.

Crude but practical to him.

Ok, I'll go ahead and say it: Sluts!

These girls aren't the sluts, their dads are! If a girl thinks nothing at all of dropping to her knees and 'hooking-up' with a stange boy on the first date with no expectation of ever seeing him again, it is her dad who is the slut. And my use of the word slut, is about the gentlest thing I can call her dad.

Help me out here. I'll grant that a Father has an enormous role in developing a girl's self-esteem, but I don't get the concrete assertion you make. Can you explain that one a little bit?

I seem to recall Monica's father not being man enough to deck the SOB for trashing his little girl's reputation. So much for post-modern fathers having the balls to defend their daughters from predatory men.

Finally, I went ahead and asked one girl pointblank: "Would you prefer if I were an a--h---?"

You had to ask? Of course she would have. It's biological. If I had any advice for younger men than myself, it would be, "There are many women in the world - to find one, you need only not look, and not care whether you succeed."

Being a complete a-hole probably won't get you laid, but being completely indifferent definitely will.

This article was primarily focused on college students. At what point does one stop "defending" one's offspring from pursuing gratification? If my mother had shown up at my college and attempted to interfere with any relationship whatsoever - let alone calling my person-of-interest a "slut" - I'd have put a shotgun in my mouth.

I'll agree the responsibility goes to the parents, but what about the mom—a little girl's primary female role model?

Yes, mom's need to stand up too, but is the dad who bears the burden of keeping his family safe.

I don't know that I can, my kids know and respect me, they know what I will tolerate and what I won't. My wife may be a bit more easy going, but it is me they know they will have to face.

Fathers need to be, not their kids best friends, but their kids fathers. A father must be willing to take strong stands on morals, they must make it clear to their children what is and what is not acceptable.

Look, the greatest Father of all is God, He has rules, if we fail to abide by those rules, it is hell to pay. As earthly fathers, we must steer our children in a direction away from paying hell and instead instill within them solid Christian values. Values which include not doing what has been described in the post. Except to their husband, a daughter should be taught that what she and her husband do is never wrong and if she and he are brought up understanding the word of God then this will never be a problem and it is the fathers responsibility to teach these principals to the family.

And I believe that it is the father that God holds most responsible. For it is not the father that God has made subservient to the wife, but the wife to the husband, Unto the woman God said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee. Genesis 3:16

I think you may have just made my point about fathers. For here we have a girl who is a slut and a father who is a coward. When a man does not have enough love for his daughter to stand up for and to her, then she will fnd a man she thinks does.

Well, after about four decades of drumming the idea that women can be men in matters of sex into the skulls of silly, gullible women, the feminists now have their crowning achievement out front and center for all the world to see.

Does it make them proud that high school girls now willingly allow themselves to be used and discarded? I refuse to chalk this up to "unintended consequences". I think that every leftist, each one a monster by definition, at his or her core despises humanity and relishes every instance of degradation and dehumanization of mankind that they can bring about.

The feminists can sit back, satisfied. They have managed to almost destroy two generations of women- their only regret, I believe, is that there are some who escaped the indoctrination with thier self-respect and integrity intact and who have never known what it feels like to wake up in the gutter after a night with a man they wouldn't know if they passed him in the street.
