IDF Uncovers and Destroys a Weapons Tunnel Near Rafah

This morning, Febuary 13, 2003, an IDF engineer unit discovered a tunnel, used to smuggle weapons from Egypt into the Gaza Strip. The tunnel was found on the Israeli Egyptian border near Rafah. The tunnel was destroyed by means of a controlled explosion.

During IDF searches just East of the Netsarim community in the central Gaza Strip, soldiers identified a group of armed terrorists attempting to plant roadside bombs at the entrance of the community. The troops pursued the terrorists and opened fire toward them, injuring four of the terrorists. Earlier in the day, an explosive device had been activated toward the force searching the area, but no injuries or damage were caused.


Rocket Set As Decoy to Trap IDF Soldiers

In an initiated action by the IDF in Beit Pajar, south of Bethlehem, soldiers discovered a rocket placed near a pipe bomb. A preliminary investigation revealed that the rocket had been set as a trap for IDF soldiers. The rocket was set to be a decoy and it is assumed that the terrorists who planted it hoped that the soldiers would be too preocupied defusing it to notice the pipe bomb, which would then be detonated. However, the soldiers did see the pipe bomb, and managed to neutralise both explosives in time and with no injuries.


Head of the Terrorist "Democratic Front" Arrested in Ramallah

An IDF unit arrested the Head of the "Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine's" paramilitary wing, Mustafa Badrana, this afternoon in Ramallah. Badrana is suspected of recruiting terrorists to carry out shooting attacks in and around Ramallah, as well as distributing weapons to them.


Terrorists arrested near Jenin

An IDF unit including reserve units from the "Egoz" unit, operated throughout the night in Jenin and surrounding areas, performing searches and arresting terrorists. In all, 20 wanted terrorists were arrested in the area and 15 of them were arrested in Kvita, a well known terrorist haven.
