This is just too incredible. It is shocking. Germany has been taken over by corrupt idiots like Herr Schroeder and former 'red revolutionaries' like Joschka Fischer.
France is Germany and Germany is France.

This man, Fischer, should never have been given a visa to step on US soil for one minute. I don't know what I'm more angry about, Germany and France, or our administration's weak handling of them.

Now I know why the Wall did in fact come down: The Soviets were planting a mole in Germany to take NATO down. Putin's KGB past isn't in the past - it's in the present. Russia and China are driving all that has happened since September 10, 2001 (and definitely 9/11).

Actually to give you a more obviously intelligent reply, let me say that I believe Russia's position is driven purely by their terrible economic mess and the financial realities of siding with the U.S. being a minus for them in the short run, which is the only run that matters to most politicians when your voters are in dire economic straights. This decision is not that hard as they have been long allies with Iraq and until recently were enemies with U.S. This is hard decision for Putin, as he wants to throw Russia's fate in with the West, but he is deciding "It's the economy, stupid." for the short run.
China may be an unseen hand in 9-11, one of several, including Saddam, that supported very covertly al Qaeda's terrorist attacks. And they have all the obvious motives.
The question remains if Jacques Chirac, lusting for EU primacy, may have given the nod to more than he realized and is now trying to cover his tracks.

The article mentions
Ilich Ramírez Sánchez "Carlos" or "the Jackal". There may be an interesting link between Carlos the Jackal and the precursors of today's Palestinian terrorists. To quote:
While studying at Lumumba, Ilich formed an alliance with several Palestinian students and listened attentively as they related stories of their homeland's struggle against its archenemy Israel. They spoke in glowing terms of a rebel leader who had organized a terrorist campaign to liberate Palestine. The man's name was Wadi Haddad. In partnership with George Habash, a fellow student at the American University in Beirut, Haddad had been instrumental in founding the Arab Nationalist Movement in the early 1950's. The members of the movement dedicated themselves to a campaign to take Palestine back from the Israelis. Source
Connecting the dots here could be very interesting (Fischer, France, Germany, nazis, communists, terrorists, etc.)

I hope your analysis is correct and not mine. I'd prepare for mine to be right, though, were I a defense planner.

There you have it in a nut shell. 'Glasnost' never was on the level. We were too easily deceived from the start. Of course, you better be careful what you say. People might begin throwing 'Tinfoil' allegations at you.
Frankly, I have read that China has smuggled thousands of covert agents into the country. Places like 'Chinatown' in San Francisco are humming with pro-PRC factions and anti-PRC factions. But their society is Chinese, and utterly inscruitable and totally corrupt.
Russians, Iraqis, aQ operatives, Germans, North Koreans, Chinese and Islamic militants just stroll into our country at will. The INS is useless and obsolete.
Mexico is filled with Islamics, Chinese and Russians. Some say they are openly training in isolated sections of the country. The Zapatistas are dealing drugs and running Chinese guns down to Mexico with help from the Mexican Mafia. The Chinese are shipping guns in through Long Beach and no one even peeks at their cargo; they have already taken over the Panama Canal.
I could go on and on ... But what do I know? I don't know 'nuthin' from nuthin.' ... I'm just a guy looking to get by day by day as best I can and savor my retirement. GWB is running the country and 'all is well.' It is in his hands now.
This time next year I may be down in Costa Rica living on the beach. Will start reviewing my German, Italian and Spanish pretty soon ... even a retired Anglo can have some fun down in sunny C.R.

Was Gorbachov an American mole? No, he was the initial deception to lull us to sleep thinking everything was going to be OK. Note that he is the first president of the Soviet Union to leave that job alive. That's because they still needed him to perform other functions for the Soviets. The Gorbachev Foundation that is working to implement a one world government in preparation for a Soviet style takeover. The DemonRats are also involved with that movement.
Was Clinton a Russian mole? No, he was China's boy. China is Russia's proxy, and then down the line from them we have the Islamists. This is just round one of the playoffs.
Was Gore a Chinese mole? Same as above.
Is Bush a Heavenly mole? Yes. If he didn't have to concern himself with election politics, things would be different. Watch the second term.

I used to be one of the believers in Russia's conversion to the west. Now I am convinced otherwise. When it comes to our nation being prepared for any strategic eventuality, being called a tinfoiler doesn't bother me. Better safe than sorry in my eyes.
Yes, our border situation is reprehensible.
Should you decide to head down south, be careful. Especially if you are a gringo with money in their estimation. What are the rules about firearms ownership down there?

Gorbechov left defunct Soviet Union alive because we bailed him out when hard-liners isolated and kidnapped him and tried to pull a coup to get back in power and resuscitate the late Soviet Union. I doubt the fall of the Soviet Union was all a ploy to give Gorbichov credentials to become a Soviet spy/mole.
Gorbachev was raised under communism, but had no shining vision of it like the older revolutionary founders and WWII vets had. He is a liberal socialist, so he throws in with the lefties in the West; but he was the first Soviet leader who was not of the old guard.
What happened in Russia is now what may be happening in Iran. The kids just aren't as dedicated to the cause as the old liners were.
Ditto we have the same problem here.

Actually, I have had people who are very close to me scoping out C.R. for quite a while. Good points are the country is a true democracy, with 99% of the people voting.
Then the whole country throws a big party ... They are good medical care and good hospitals and it is all provided by the government. As a Norte Americano will have to limit my says to 90 days as a time. They have a huge Anglo community, with Americans, Germans and Italians in large numbers. Bad points are -- do not know how long the cheerful aspects might last. But real estate is very cheap.
Guns are guns are guns, everywhere there are guns.

Note to Self (from same source) - Follow up on:
Carlos may have lived out his days in virtual obscurity had it not been for two important events in history. The first was the collapse of the Berlin wall in November 1989, which saw the dissolution of the system that had protected Carlos and his cadre from scrutiny. The second and most important event occurred in August 1990 when Saddam Hussein ordered his army to occupy neighbouring Kuwait. In the aftermath of the invasion, Western intelligence agencies received information that Hussein was mounting a terror campaign, principally against the United States, and had brought Carlos out of retirement to lead it.

Pacepa is an interesting character. His "Red Horizons", published in 1987 provided interesting snippets on the Soviet involvement in drug trafficking. Although he had been interrogated for years no one in the CIA thought to follow up on what he knew, which was plenty, because at the time Agency orders were to stay as clear of drugs and drug trafficking as possible (for fear agents might become contaminated by easy money, more than anything else).
