Lest we Forget: WalMart + China
Focus on Freedom ^

Posted on 02/17/2003 9:09:05 AM PST by steplock

My apologies to the originating artist at CNS News -
- I changed the words "Big Business" to the more fitting and definitely more Truthful "WAL-MART"

If we don't watch the corporations & this company in particular, we may find ALL of our manufacturing companies moved out of the U.S.A. and we will be at the mercy of all the other countries in the world. The United States of America became this Great Nation through the strength of our "Industrial Complex" and we will die with the loss of our industries.

I already started going to Randall's more often than WalMart for groceries. Everything at WalMart is made in China, it seems.

I couldn't agree more - however, this problem has been about 45 years in the making; we've dug ourselves a deep hole that's going to be difficult to get out of.

I have tried to make that point often and I am roundly booed..seems cheap DVD's are more important than the country...

It's not THAT company. It's your friendly government's decision NOT to protect our manufacturers or... really anything. It's OUR GOVERNMENT that allows the products made under communists' slave labor regimes to freely enter our country, lets our jobs and technologies get out, invites millions of 'legal' immigrants in and tolerates millions more illegal immigrants.

So... if you wake up one day without a country, a nation or a job... it's NOT because of Walmart. It's because of the traitors we freely elected to take our country apart.

The United States of America must return to the American System of Political Economy as devised by Alexander Hamilton, if she is to be restored economically. This means the reinstitution of tariffs, which was the policy of this great country during the 1800s. The American System of Political Economy has never gone out of date; rather Americans have thumbed their noses at the essential laws of Physical Economics, and have since then paid a heavy price for their mass folly. There is nothing "free" about so-called free trade. It is just so much foolishness.

Why ask me? I only pointed out that N&V mistakenly identified Hillary as a member of Wal-Mart's BOD.

we aren't exporting no where near what we did 20 years ago

It would help if you knew what you were talking about. Between 1970 and 2000, the U.S. export share of GDP almost tripled (4.4 percent to 12.3 percent). But don't let the facts get in the way of a simple minded argument.

Sometimes growth isn't good, but try to tell this to an economist, and they brush you off like you're some ill informed fool.

You are an ill-informed fool, and your efforts to cling to the past are reminescent of the cries of alarm from those bemoaning agriculture's diminishment as a portion of the workforce (80% 200 years ago, 40% 100 years ago, 2% today). If you raise tariffs and try to temporarily protect some manufacturing jobs you'll just lower the standard of living of everyone else (by artificially raising the price of goods) until technology reaches the point that those jobs are also replaced by domestic robots. Quit trying to use the force of government to hold some people up by holding others down. Even if you can't figure out what to do next there are men who can. They'll be there to offer you a job made possible with the capital freed up by taking advantage of competitive advantages that raise everyone's standard of living. Luddites are as pathetic as Malthusians, no amount of historical evidence can convince them the sky isn't falling on their heads...

Free trade means trade free from interfernce by morons who can't see the advantage of not putting the government between individuals trying to trade the wealth they've produced to make their lives better.

Wal-Mart discontinued carrying Maurice Bessenger's BBQ sauce b/c they said he was distributing materials "contrary to one of our core principles, respect for the individual." Those materials would be a Christian passage written by a pastor.

Wonder if Wal-Mart is willing to stand behind this statement with Red China?

I don't know stainless, perhaps you should check with those at the RNC whereever the heck it's located now that waved the flag highest for Giddy Dolt. Since she's a sellout for Walmart, maybe they have an opinion on that? Oh, but I forgot, she's a Republican. Silly me!!

Giddy Dolt NC ping, I know it's been a while but I just love to see real life examples of 'our' Senator at work doing what she does best, selling out to the highest bidder.
