Rally for America, Columbia, Mo. Eagle 93.9
Boone County Court House

The Courthouse mall in Columbia, Missouri, resounded with deafening cheers for America this evening when 300 to 400 Americans joined together to show their support for America and her brave service men and women. The Eagle, 93.9 on the FM dial, Central Missouri's only FM talk radio station, sponsored the rally on this cold, dreary, snowy February night.
The crowd of mostly pro-American citizens (there was a smattering of the anti-American protestors lost in the throng) was receptive to the program of pro-American and pro-military speakers. Present and cheering were Freepers Bluesage, Bretmilk (with spouse), Prov3456, Bogeyman, Zip and Mrs. Zip (with Shane).
The Ringmaster of the Rally was Jason Griffin of Eagle 93.9, and he did a fine job of introducing the speakers and making sure that the rally kept on theme. That theme was simple; support for America and her service men and women who go in harm's way for us. Speaker after speaker spoke of their service to America and the need for citizens at home to support American soldiers abroad. Along with the speakers, two very nice (and pretty) young ladies lead the crowd in the Nation Anthem, God Bless America, and My County Tis'of Thee.
Ever one to get in on a good thing, Dogrobber got up and let the "cat out of the bag." In the two days prior to the rally Bluesage had been working behind the scenes to get a special yard sign sponsored and printed. The sign, about 18 x 24, simply says "We support our Troops" on a flag background. Ever the patriots, the printing of the yard sign is going to be sponsored by the Columbia, Missouri, Knights of Columbus, Monsignor John Flood of the the Assemby of the 4th Degree (Patriotic Branch) presiding. The actual production of the signs is being handled by Don Pickerell of Accent Press, 316 Tiger Lane, Columbia, at essentialy the cost of production. Don Pickerell is a local printer who has shown himself to be a patriot and local Freepers and Lurkers who need printing work should remember who stands for America when they decide who to go to for their needs (I know, its a commerical plug, but Don is doing this because he cares about America and that deserves our recognition).
Also deserved of recognition is Ron Covert. Mr. Covert is the general manager of the Eagle 93.9, a radio station that kinda went out on a limb for this rally. When a commerical station decides to sponsor a rally when there are different viewpoints in their audience and takes a risk as to who might be offended by the tone of the rally, that deserves kudos. Mr. Covert was there at the rally and was steadfast in his support of the assembled Missouri citizens. He deserves our thanks for his display of pure "guts" in sponsoring this rally. Columbia is not the City of Evil, but sometimes it comes close in its foolish adherance to the anti-American rant.
See below for the mock-up of the yard sign (to be available in the Columbia, Missouri, area in six to ten working days for a donation to support the costs of production and/or reprints) Note: Accent Press is located at 316 Tiger Lane, Columbia, Missouri, toll free telephone number (888) 525-5848 (Tell Don that the Crazy Lady in the Blue coat sent you- (Bluesage)).

Three cheers for the patriots, whether they're on Gulf sand or homeland soil.

Great write up Dog. My granddaughter and her boy friend showed up and helped with the signs and flags. Shane held the candle raised high. I was so proud of the people assembled there tonight.
This rally was announced as a support our troops rally so I thought it was totally out of place for the leftists to come out with their anti American bs. I heard several comments directed to them indicating they should be ashamed to bring the war protest signs to a "support our troops" rally.
Dogrobber was given the mike to let us know about the yard signs and was cheered loud and long, so I think real Americans want something to show their support and to counter the peacenik/hippie signs that are so prevelant in Columbia. Thanks to Dog and Blue for all of the work getting the yard sign program off the ground. Thank you from a vet.

Good for you folks.
Lake of the Ozarks bump !
To: Eric in the Ozarks
Thanks for the bump. Noticing the conservative, pro America, pro President Bush, religious, pro troops signs, we put the word out about FR using the business cards but I ran out waaaaay too soon. I was so honored to be in the middle of such a wonderful group of people that I forgot about the snow, cold and very slick walks in the Courthouse mall area.
It was fantastic being around so many REAL AMERICANS.
Thanks 93.9 Eagle

EXCELLENT!! Glad to hear there was such a good turnout for the rally!! And I LOVE the new yard sign! It's a beautiful design.
I finally get to join in the fun of a rally tomorrow evening. There's one in Nashville and I've talked my hubby into going. Just got to finish my signs. I've had too many ideas and had to settle on four. *giggle* I'm looking forward getting out there to show support for our troops and country.

My wife and I were there, braving 40 miles of slick roads, to attend. A small sacrifice compared to those who have and will lay their life on the line for America! My wife, who is finally coming aboard to support our cause carried her "We Support The American Troops". (She shocked my son a few weeks back when she was yelling at the peacenicks from the car one day) haha. My sign said "We support Democracy, Not Dictatorships." I was rather surprised at the handful of peacenicks in attendance. And allowing their leader to speak? OMG!!! Well some of his utopian views were jeered as they should be. And I was not shocked that there was virtually no TV news coverage, although there was one tv camera there, we didn't know what station it represented.
I was hoping to meet some of the FReepers. We have saved our signs and hope to join Columbia's "Operation Infinite FReep" now that my wife is on board! Please let me know when our next occasion to counter the peacenicks will be.
We need to build on this success and grow our numbers!
Oh and btw, The Eagle93.9 might be putting a similar Pro American event in Jeff City very soon. Lets Roll!

Please let me know when our next occasion to counter the peacenicks will be.Thanks for being there. We had at least 10 FReepers (or their family members) there last night.
Come join us every Saturday morning at 10 AM across the street from the Post Office (Walnut - 2 blocks from the Court House). We counter protest the hippie/peacenik leftists who stand on the grass in front of the PO.
This invitation is extended to all real Americans. We are there from 10 to 11 AM and Dog and Blue have great signs and ideas for signs so come on over and lend your hands and minds.

I was listening to 93.9 this morning and loved the pro America callers and was on a high, then..... a caller wondered why the TV ran ONLY INTERVIEWS WITH LEFTIST PEACENIKS (they had a dozen or so and we had almost 400). It really brought me down to know that real Americans support our troops, our Country and FReedom but the media still hates them. (This is the same TV station that would not allow patriotic colors, flags, or any emblem to be worn or shown by on air personnel on Sept 11 and after.) Sorry to ramble but am really ticked.
The announcer did mention that they were considering a rally in Jefferson City soon. I hope they do it - they have a sister AM station here.
Dogrobber, I was overjoyed to hear the reception you got concerning the yard signs. It was spontaneous, loud and long. Thanks for the effort.

Thank you from another vet, the signs are great. I thought it was out of place also for the peaceniks to be there, for some reason I knew they would be but I had hoped they would be respectful of us as we are for them. I should have known better. I watched two newscasts and of course most of the report from both channels were on the peaceniks in the crowd and one even said they were being harrassed by the pro-America crowd which I did not see happening. It was a great event nevertheless, even though one of my co-workers is getting a little grief from other co-workers for attending, it shows how ignorant they can be, they can live here and enjoy the rights and privelages, but actually supporting their country is a different story.
