CAPTURED al-Qaeda kingpin Khalid Sheikh Mohammed has started to give interrogators key information about the terror network, it was revealed yesterday.
It also emerged that Khalid, who was Osama bin Laden's third-in-command, could be the subject of a show trial in the US next year coinciding with the start of the presidential campaign.
After initially refusing to speak, Khalid is "cracking" after three days of questioning by Pakistani and US interrogators.
"There is always an end to human endurance," Pakistani Interior Minister Faisal Saleh Hayat said.
US officials claim he has started disclosing details of operations in the pipeline when he was arrested at the weekend. But it is unclear whether he is telling the truth or feeding the CIA disinformation.
There is also confusion as to where Khalid is being held with reports ranging from the Indian Ocean island of Diego Garcia to Afghanistan and Uzbekistan.

Believe? you mean I have to believe stuff that's in the papers, I know better then that.
Personally, and this is pure speculation, I think we got him back in october, told the world he was dead and then got the info out of him. After foiling some plans and picking up some other terrorists which he led us to, we are finally are letting the world know we have him because it's safe to do so and it may scare some more rats out of the sewers.
Either way it's good we got that prick (I wanted to use some other profanity but caught myself).

I think that more effective than "light torture" is the fact that this guy's wife and children are in protective custody to prevent terrorists from kidnapping them and using them to shut him up.
It was stated the other day they gave him a glimpse of his family and he broke down in tears. The Pakis can always tell him they'll remove the protection from the family if he doesn't sing. They've got him between Iraq and a hard place.

Sleep deprivation works pretty fast with other 'techniques'. No need to go conspiracy hunting.

If he does go on trial, I plan to hang out outside the place with a baseball bat within reach...
The first time Sarandon shows up to protest and display "Free KSM" signs, I'll point to the bleachers out in left field and pull a Ruth...

'Truth serum' doesn't guarantee confession What is "truth serum"?
It is a barbiturate called thiopental sodium, better known as Sodium Pentothal, a trademark of Abbott Laboratories. It is a yellow crystal that can be dissolved in water or alcohol and administered orally or intravenously.
What does it do?
Sodium Pentothal is used as a sedative and as an anesthetic during surgery. It depresses the central nervous system, slows the heart rate and lowers the blood pressure. Patients on whom the drug is used as an anesthetic usually are unconscious less than a minute after it enters their veins. The drug causes only a few minutes of sedation. Because of its effectiveness as a sedative, it is the first of three drugs used by U.S. prison systems during executions.
In milder doses, the drug becomes what some call a "truth serum." Those taking the drug become very communicative and share their thoughts without hesitation. Despite its nickname, Sodium Pentothal will not make a person tell the truth against his will. The recipient likely will lose his inhibition, and therefore he might be more likely to tell the truth.

Could be simple like sleep deprivation. Remember when we first started using Gitmo? Prisoners were kept standing or kneeling for hours, in black hoods or spray-painted goggles. At times they are held in awkward, painful positions and deprived of sleep with a 24-hour bombardment of lights, "stress and duress" techniques. Those who cooperate are rewarded with creature comforts, interrogators whose methods include feigned friendship, respect, cultural sensitivity and, in some cases, money. Some who do not cooperate are turned over to foreign intelligence services whose practice of torture can be a little different.
