US highlights Africa terror threat

THE United States has warned citizens of possible new terrorist threats in East Africa from affiliates and sympathisers of Osama bin Laden's al-Qaeda network.

The State Department "continues to receive threat information pertaining to this region", it said today.

The statement renewed an existing January 4 alert and added seaports to a lengthy list of possible targets.

"Supporters of al-Qaeda and other extremists are still active in East Africa," it said.

The department "believes it is prudent to alert American citizens that such information is being received so American citizens can make an informed decision whether to travel to or remain in East Africa".

"Supporters of al-Qaeda and other extremists are still active in East Africa,"

Al-Qaeda has rather large enclaves set up in Eritrea, Somalia, and Sudan from which to launch attacks from. They apparently also have a cozy relationship with the governments of Liberia and Burkina Faso to allow them to operate with impunity.

The general basis for the local al-Qaeda terrorist networks in Africa is generally Arab commanders, native cannon fodder. Kind of like the way the Chechens work.

It's weird the Free Speech that IS tolerated ... top story of the breaking news and everything.

Have we forgotten in our rush to war and our reckless gambling on the strength that is Weapons of Mass Distraction that our President wants us to foot a cool 15 billion dollar tab to inject these folks with USAID?
