I had a more detailed account of the debate, but my computer performed an illegal operation, and this was my second time to type it.

That girl being unware of the existence of Al Sharpton reminds me of what I saw on 60 Minutes II last night. The Andy Rooney wannabe guy (in the final segment) was intervewing some war protesters, and the majority of them didn't know who the leader of Iraq was. Some of them thought it was OBL! Truly frightening.

I would recommend keeping a low profile until you get out of college. You don't want to be punished for your view (this happens more than you probably realize). As far as your debate, it sound like you did a good job but I would recommend sticking to ONE SINGLE POINT because the tactic most liberals use is to try and change course rapidly when you start to near an actual logical conclusion. For example, when you two were discussing the chances of Bush gettin re-elected, your facts were starting to look as if your point was correct...then she quickly changed the subject to "forcing our views on others". I know it's difficult to keep on track but it's the only way a liberal can be forced to face an actual logical result. Good luck in the future!

Kudos for your efforts. A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

Why aren't we going after North Korea, or any of these other countries who have nuclear weapons?

As if any leftist in the world would be in favor of military action against No. Korea or Iran if we weren't after Iraq! She's just regurgitating the mindless Rat talking points of the hour.

Once we finish off Saddam, and redirect our energies to the other two legs of the Axis, we'll then see just how enthusiastic these people are about military action in the places their suggesting we deal with now.

What a man you are for defeating this young "liberal" woman. Obviously she didn't really know what was going on if she didn't even know who Al Sharpton was. Maybe you should try arguing with a real liberal sometime and not some straw-woman and then see how you fare. *rolls eyes*

Let's talk about some of your errors in your argument...
1. In the latest polls most people said they would vote for a Democrat rather than George Bush in the next election.

2. Do you really think when the bombs start dropping Iraqis are going to be in the streets celebrating? HARDLY! They are going to be in their bomb shelters praying to Allah that a bomb doesn't drop on them making them become one of the thousands upon thousands of collateral damage that will occur once the war starts.

3. Saddam doesn't like Bin Laden and Bin Laden doesn't like Saddam. That is obvious to ANYONE who pays attention to the news. Why would Saddam assist someone who ultimately wants to see Saddam toppled. If you know anything about anything you know that Saddam is all about saving himself and his regime. Saddam giving Bin Laden support would not be consistent with that.

4. The women of Afghanistan still wear burqas. Religious law is still being enforced to some degree. The Bush administration neglected to include aid to Afghanistan in his budget. Afghanistan still doesn't have the most stable or functioning government. My father always told me to do one thing at a time and do it well and then move on to the next. It is a shame George W. didn't learn that from his dad.

Me What do you think is going to happen when we bomb Iraq? Do you think the Iraqi's are just going to sit in their living rooms and yawn and say.."Oh crap they've forced liberty on us" Heck No!! They're going to be dancing in the streets! Screaming at the top of their lungs at the oppurtunity provided to them! How do you think the Iraqi's will react? Seeing as how you say you have their best interest in mind?

Her (At this point she hung her head, and said quietly...yes that is the point that I hear most conservatives make)

HOLD ON THERE!! I thought that George Bush was one a one-man crusade and no one supports him?

I've really stopped talking to most anti-war types as by this point we are not so much having a discussion as yelling at each other across a chasm. I just tell them that I plan on giving them an "I told you so" AFTER we win. What (for me) is going to be interesting is what happens on day 3.
Day one the war starts

Day two Saddam is defeated

Day three dancing in the streets of Bagdad

Day four.....?

This little girl thinks she's more politically aware than the President (obviously, b/c she thinks she is right and he is wrong). However, she doesn't know who Al Sharpton is? Shows you how much info she gets from reading actual news and how much she just gleans from her liberal cookie-cutter friends and Mainstream news sound bites. Maybe you can give her some real information and save her from the abyss that is liberalism.

Somebody has to tell Israel and Palestine to work their situation out.

I think Sharon has been very vociferous in telling the Palestinians to start working things out.

Its not my judgement to make. The Iraqi people should make the judgement themselves. I am not qualified to make that judgement.

Prolly has someone else pick out her underwear.
