Kudos to all who stood in the rain today. Nice pictures and comments, well, most of them.
I have to take issue with your comment, "Diversity is our greatest strength."
Do you REALLY believe America's differences, her variety are her greatest strength? I hear this statement all the time. It must have some secret meaning. Because it sounds like horsesh!t to me.
If you believe your statement to be true, you may have been unknowingly drinking the koolaid. Please put the glass down, step away from the table and ponder your words. They really do mean something.

Fear not, Oscar fans, your favorite little golden guy has got plenty of protection this year.
Due to concerns over an impending U.S. war with Iraq and a heightened terrorist threat, security has been stepped up tremendously this year for the 75th Anniversary Academy Awards, set for March 23 at Hollywood's Kodak Theater.
And like last year's post 9-11 shindig, those lucky enough to attend should expect even more street closures, metal detectors, bodyguards and a beefed up security force that will even include an FBI contingent to get everybody in a partyin' mood... CLICK HERE for the rest of the thread

LOL!
Please pray for WARM WEATHER and NO RAIN for our Oscar FReep...
...particularly for our REALLY hard-core FRiends who will be joining Ted Hayes in his 24-hour "Freedom Vigil" on the sidewalk, overnight - starting on SATURDAY (3/22) - at Hollywood and Highland.
(The REST of us, of course, will be in place by 4pm on Sunday.)

Thanks for some great pix!
I used to live in nearby Irvine until mid-2001, now in Malaysia w/ Chinese wife trying for retirement.
I do miss California, and get homesick sometimes.

In regards to those individuals who come from different backgrounds - and yet are __Americans__ first and foremost, yes.
We assimilate the best of what each group has to contribute.
Case in point - were it not for some individuals with funny accents from a certain Western European country, it's very likely that America would not have reached the moon before the Soviets.
Of course, instead of using the Germans, we could have just waited for those desired mathematical and engineering traits to evolve within our own borders. My guess is, if we'd done that, we'd all be speaking Russian now.
To put it simply: The diversity of heritages enables us to evolve faster than the competition.

God Bless ya Homeboys and Homegirls... true blue rain or shine. Proud to know Orange County is in good hands after B-1 Bob left. I miss my office on Harbor Blvd at the 405, I miss Huntington Harbor, SB, Captain Jack's, Chart House all those other neat seafood choices on PCH. You never really ever leave the beach... you just get beached somewhere in shallow water.
