Vegetative detritus (debris) was a larger percentage of "pollution" particles than meat in all areas. Meat ranks at the bottom of all except for Clinton where Fuel oil particles were measurably smaller.

i'm a willing victim of first hand barbecue smoke, when I throw a handful of hickory chunks into the ole firebox, I go right over to the smoker's chimney to get a good strong whiff of that smoke...mmmmmmm, sublime.

In other words, we've got still another largely insoluble problem that threatens to end life as we know it. Sometimes I wish one of these looming disasters would go ahead and happen, just to end the suspense.

I imagine that other things like salt and decaying fish make up a bit more of Galveston's air. There are other things that could have been detected possibly too (they are closer to the petroleum industry).

This article does little to actually inform us as to what the air is like in these regions.

On a side note, maybe Houston was tagged as "Fattest City" because Houstonians are obese from seconds hand fatty smoke. < /sarcasm >

Even when I cook indoors, I turn on the exhaust fan to rid the house of "fatty particles". Of course, the exhaust goes outside. What do they plan to do about that---never mind, I'm sure they will come up with "A PLAN"--LOL

In California, the research prompted officials to require fast-food restaurants that use chain-driven charbroilers to install ceramic filters on their exhaust vents. To meet ozone and small particle air standards by 2010, the state is considering more rigorous rules for restaurants.

California is soooo screwed up. Next, the eviro-PETA-wacko's in power will push for the banning of cooking meat. After all, it's better for the environment and the tasty animals that won't be killed. Who cares if people have to eat! Just make sure the environment and edible critters are safe. The vegans and vegitarians out there will play this for all it's worth!
