The CBS Evening News with Dan Rather is a joke…Rather’s faux down-home country boy routine is not only a cheap ruse, but it exemplifies his disregard for the intelligence of the viewing public. But all of the blame here can’t just be laid at Rather’s feet. The whole of CBS News must, finally, be held accountable. In an era when companies pay billions to the FCC for access, the networks are given free access in return for the “public service” they provide. But overt acts of bias and manipulating information to reflect ideology, as Rather and his network have done, are not in the public interest, even if all the high-paid talking heads believe it is…
