In the running for 'The most bone-headed question of the war.'

Just to prove that there is an exception to every rule (in this case the rule is 'there's no such thing as a dumb question'):
This was just on Fox. Don't know the last names, but the studio anchor named Katherine (sp?), short black hair, was talking to William (seen him a zillion times but can't think of his last name) embedded with the 3rd ID in Baghdad. He's outside of Saddam's palace, midday Sunday, where an army chaplain is leading a service for the troops...
K: "I'm sure you've spoken to many members of the 3rd ID, and uhhh, the service must have special significance for them. What were they telling you about the reasons for holding it?"
W: (with a perplexed look on his face) "For the service, that is, Katherine?"
K: "Yes."
W: "I'm sorry. I didn't understand your question, Katherine, go again."
K: "Why did they decide to hold the service today, I mean, why was it so significant for them to do that?"
W: (trying to be polite) "Well...[pause]...it's Easter Sunday..."

They do ask some really stupid questions. I heard another really bad one today, from Rita Cosby I think it was. She was talking about the atmosphere of anger around the jail when Scott Peterson was brought in. Then she says to the reporter on the ground, "you were there. What was the atmosphere? What was the feeling?"

Yeah, William took a long sarcastic look at his watch while he mulled his answer

I really enjoyed that SNL sketch where the MSNBC anchors all broadcast in their pajamas, underscoring the fact that the MSNBC female anchors have the "gravitas" of a late night slumber party

My favorite is still the question I heard the morning show chick on Fox ask one of the military experts during the early part of the war: "Do the pilots get special training for flying in sandstorms?"
To: Cousin Eddie
When I watched the DOD Townhall the other day the one thing that immediately jumped out at me was the great questions that came from the audience.
If they could just get people like these in the regular press corps.
Light bulb going on!!!
Imbed the military into the press for one month.

Ain't time zones a hoot? I hate to think what she thinks the Int'l Date Line is. Les Nesbit, is Dayton in the same time zone as Cincinnati?? WKRP leaving the air now.

Bridgette Quinn, questioning some aviation expert the day that a flight from New York crashed into Rockaway Beach...
"Is it true when these planes take off, that they are full of fuel".

Quinn may be on to something. Having fuel in an aircraft only weighs it down and slows it up. The space taken up by fuel could be used for better purposes. Works for me.

LOL, I don't know, for a long time I had trouble figuring out if she was an "Extra" on the set of "Star Trek" or genuine reporter.
To be fair... She usually does a good job of Fair & Balanced reporting

Catherine Herridge, during the Washington Sniper fiasco, had a hard time understanding the difference between the rifle slug and casing.
She kept insisting that identifiying marks from the barrel could be found on the brass casings. (rifling marks.)
It is my belief that she recieved a flood of e-mails at FoxNews, correcting her show of ignorance concerning guns and ammunition.
( I know she recieved at least ONE "correction" from me.)
Soon thereafter, she stopped commenting on guns or gun related issues in the case altogether.
