1ST ANNUAL Boycott HOLLYWEIRD FREEPATHON, Tell everyone you know avoid Movie Theaters this WEEKEND
vanity | May 21, 2002 | the Eagle Has Landed

Posted on 05/20/2003 9:56:59 PM PDT by TheEaglehasLanded

Since MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND is the big kickoff to the summer season.

I'm requesting that all FREEPERS don't go to a single movie the entire MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND to punish Hollyweird in the pocketbook for their hatred of America.

Spread the word, try to get your friends to do other activities. Surely their is better ways to spend our money that give it to people that hate America and want to destroy our way of life.

"The windmills are waiting & your burro is prepared - ride on brave warrior, ride on."

LOL! I'm stealing that quote!

I wasn't going to the movies this weekend anyhow...

Nah, me neither. I hate seeing films in the theatres anymore. It is cheaper to buy them on DVD for my big-screen where I can enjoy the film at home with a beer and a cigarette.

Not worth selling my ideals for a little entertainment.

I support my President and I love my Country; but I make my own decisions on issues and no one is going to make me feel guilty should I wish to attend a film. I do pick and choose...and do not support the Sarandon,Robbins..etc. I've been a 'movie/screenplay freak' since a little kid and shall continue to do so. It does not make me or anyone else here any less a patriot; nor are we selling out our 'ideals'. I don't plan on going this weekend, as have other things on my agenda.

One forgets the number of people that depend on 'theater' related jobs right down to the concession stand('gotta have my Goobers too ;) !). Why should others be made to 'suffer financially' for the retoric of a few 'useful' idiots who happen to be celebrities.

This may be an unpopular opinion..
but 'frankly Scarlet, I don't give a damn!'

This is no hardship for me. Most of my friends have given up going to movies. Nothing they want to see, and I agree. Wholeyweird has left me behind.

I suggest, read a book instead.

You assume people such as myself are not readers. I am always reading a book or screenplay. I find those that do not work for a given industry find it easy to boycott another. What if a boycott was placed on your business? Conservatives call many liberals elitists; and I, as a conservative, find many conservatives fall into the same category...suggesting one who enjoys the arts does not read; for example, could be taken as sounding condescending or elistist in nature.

Most of my friends

I don't need a backup of 'friends do or don't' to see a movie/play to support my decision.

Many pick out a few 'Hollywood idiots' and then blacklist the whole industry. Should a person in FR choose to take in a film..enjoy! If a Freeper wants to ban ALL films, they have the right to do so.

As I said..'I pick and choose' where I place my almighty dollar when selecting a film or play. I let my conscience be my guide.

Respectfully

If "Gods & Generals" is still playing near you, I advise you to make an exception and see this religious movie about Gen. Stonewall Jackson & the civil War.

you are free in this country to do as you choose..if you feel guilty about supporting leftwing causes, that's your own problem. No one can "make" you feel guilty, no matter how guilty one might be. It's very simple, by attending most hollywood movies, your dollar goes to NARAL, Handgun, Inc., Rainbow/PUSH, PFlAG, and every anti american cause out there.. but hey...you're a movie buff.. your freedom to show off how "free" you are by supporting the left is guaranteed by the constitution.. you aren't as "free" as you think you are if you can't live without movies. Personally I prefer to honor the men and women of the service who have died to keep me free by spending my money elsewhere.

Looking at certain replies, one wonders how the people ever survived or had any fun before movies. Frankly, if the drek out there now is what passes for entertainment these days, I'd rather stay home, use my BRAIN, and create my own entertainment like they did in the decent days before film. Wouldn't it just be easier to write a check directly to the leftwing cause of your choice? That way you wouldn't have to suffer through the junk onscreen.

Thats is your freedom to do, as it is my freedom to go with my 'military' buddy to a film/play.

..and you have a good weekend.

Dr...saw God's and Generals. Byrd played the roll of a much younger man historically speaking. I was surprised so few were at the openings, but the lenght of the film scared movie goers away..short attention span?

The first time we tried to see "Gods & Generals," it was sold out! We went back the next weekend.

A few weeks ago we met someone at a picnic who is involved in Civil War reinactments, and he was in the movie. He said a lot was cut out.
