You state 'excommunication makes one [not a] Catholic in the eyes of the Church.
I don't think that's quite it. One is always Catholic, but excommunication means that they CANNOT receive any Sacrament except Reconciliation--and there's ONE sin they better confess and repent for and avoid in the future.
Excom is a warning that one is in danger of losing one's soul.

Chretien is insignificant to American politics; in fact, he is below zero, nothing, nada. He obviously wants to fit in and look tough in the eyes of the Europeans, especially the French. I don't believe the Catholic Church in Canada would do a thing against him. He deserves excommunication and a kick in the ass, but you can bet that it's not going to happen. Chretien is a total embarrassment to Canadians, no wonder he is decriminalizing marijuana to keep them dumb and happy.

such conditions do not apply in the United States, Nope.
The Pope has made the bar very high--but not impossible.
Personally, I don't think we need to use cap pun in the USA--but that decision is up to the States, and they may choose un-wisely.

Well said! Hahahaha.

Abortion and the death penalty are two different issues. The latter has to do with the perogatives of the state.

Ask any American: Who is the prime minister of Canada? I doubt one in a hundred could give the correct answer.

You're probably right. But don't tell him
Chretien is a legend in his own mind.
To: Victoria Delsoul
I think Chretien has become bitter and vindictive over the last few weeks because he's seen NHL teams from Edmonton, Toronto, Vancouver, and Ottawa eliminated from the Stanley Cup playoffs in rapid succession by teams from the United States.

Aha! yep, it makes sense.

Thanks for the heads up and links!

The face of victory . . .
The face of defeat . . .
The face of a jackass . . .

LOL!!! Fantastic job, AC! Just great.
To: Victoria Delsoul
Thanks. LOL.
Those friends of mine in Canada who were rooting for Ottawa didn't think it was so funny.
Now they want Anaheim to beat New Jersey, but the Devils just won again tonight to go up 2-0 in the best-of-seven Stanley Cup Finals. I have to think of a good message to send them tomorrow.

I have to think of a good message to send them tomorrow. Here is one...
To: Victoria Delsoul
LOL. Looks good. I may save that one until the Finals are over, though.
To: Alberta's Child
Good idea, hehehe.
