By almost two-to-one, Americans think it's time to forgive France and restore that friendship (61 percent) rather than remain distant (33 percent) because of their opposition to the U.S. military action against Iraq. Count me in the MINORITY on this one !!

Iraq is a lot more justified than Kosovo.

Zimbabwe is more justified than Kosovo but the UN,US and the Congressional Black Caucus will not allow it.
The press and the leftist Democrats will push this WMD thing until the election to cover their treachery and shortcomings.

Let it be a given that the "police action" was justified, I want to know that if the Primary reason given that saddam had WMDs turns out to be a bald face lie, will that make any difference in your opinion of Pres Bush? Anyone?

Thank you for this post, John. SOD Rumsfeld has faith in the American people to find the truth - in spite of the press. I'm not as sure - having once believed in Uncle Walty.
Everything you need to know about the war and the press can be summed up by the daily CENTCOM reports and the press's refusal to refer to the
primary (and proven most trustworthy) news source re. Iraq.
Two different daily logs, "Security" and "Recovery," detail the awesome daily progress of the Coalition. For each Coalition casualty hyped by the press to turn public opinion against the war - we're seldom told that the attacker and his pals LOST the fight - are usually dead or arrested. We don't hear about all the regime dead-enders and terrorist-wannabes OUR guys take out - with the help of the free Iraqis - weekly.
The concerned reporters who turn each casualty into 'chaos in Iraq' and 'Coalition facing a mighty enemy' are insulting the troops and our nation. In a nation of ~ 24 million newly freed Iraqis - supplied with mountains of weapons to use against us by our enemies - and with over 150,000 Coalition troops across Iraq we have fewer than a dozen Coalition casualties a week. "Chaos?" "Coalition unwanted?" Bunk.
We also rarely hear about the good works to rebuild structures, feed the people and help establish the local governments - great stuff the Coalition's doing daily in Iraq - and have been doing daily since we liberated Baghdad.
America, the world, even the free Iraqis don't know the truth about our progress in Iraq - because the press isn't telling them. They continue to ignore the Iraqi victims and hand their mighty pens to kindred spirits - the minority of extremists who want us to fail.
VOICES OF FREEDOM
Quotes from the grateful Iraqi people.

want to know that if the Primary reason given that saddam had WMDs turns out to be a bald face lie, first, it was not the primary reason given to the US. It was the main reason given the UN.
Second, yes if it turns out Bush's claims were a bald face lie I would never trust him again.
But I doubt it will turn out like that. First, he didn't need it as an excuse. He had full support to go virtually anywhere he wanted.
Second, tony Blair had his own independent sources and would not have put his career on the line if he wasn't convinced. In addition, Blair has intimated that data is being withheld subject to the completion of the search.
Third, Bush has proven to be a master in thinking forward many more moves than his political critics. Its totally unlikely that Bush would have risked his future credibility like this especially when he didn't need to.
Finally, from all the cop shows I have watched, its basic that you don't reveal the progress of an investiagtion in process. It hinders it.

"first, it was not the primary reason given to the US. It was the main reason given the UN."
It was most certainly the Primary reason with which we were inundated on a daily basis by the news media and his own comments in his speeches.
I just ran across this H.L. Mencken quote:
"The urge to save humanity is almost always only a false-face for the urge to rule it."-- H.L. Mencken
"Second, yes if it turns out Bush's claims were a bald face lie I would never trust him again."
You have my respect with this answer. There are many on this forum, who, like the clinton apologists, justify defending the indefensible by calling it brilliant politics.

Poet, please give me your thoughts on why, if Saddam did not have any WMD, he did not ask the UN to verify the facts and lift the UN sanctions on his country. Was it to his advantage to keep his country under that kind of sanction? Was he working sweet deals with Kofi Annan and all the NGOs who were in his country 'helping' his subjugated people?
You might also have some thoughts on why our forces were rigidly trained in the use of the chemical weapon protective gear. Was that part of President Bush's scam? And why did Saddam have military protective gear and atropine ampoules, stashed near military sites?
