2. He exist and is a solo "con" artist.

I like this one better than the "DNC Agent" hypotheses because — not to run down Doug Thompson or anything, but... — who the Hell would invest 20 years building a false identity like this and then spend it on a one-liner in Capitol Hill Blue? It's not worth the candle.

I would sooner believe that Doug Thompson made the guy up. The problem I have with that one is that I don't think these kinds of insider-wannabes are that rare. You mentioned psychosis; I knew a schizophrenic who could and would do this. He would be very convincing at it because he'd believe it himself. This guy had more business cards than Clinton had girlfriends. He owned a catering company, he was an insurance agent, he was an investment banker... I don't even remember them all. It was all BS... the guy was a homeless derelict. But if you didn't know that... he could keep you going for a while.

He doesn't exist ... outside of Doug Thompson's tiny mind ! No real journalist is going to accept 'info ", for twenty years, no less, without doing some sort of research on the informant; except a total moron. So either Doug is a lying weasel, who has used this " mysteruous ", long time informant, without any serious scrutiny, or he made him up, in order to, yet once again, attempt to back track on one of his vile, spurious, calumny filled POS against President Bush. The later is the only possible conclusion, for any THINKING person, who is familiar with Doug Thompson.

Okay, I take a part of the above back ... Doug is a liar, a weasel, and a moron !

If 2. is it . He would not have had just one place to spew his information. Others need to be involved.

We also had a source. Young man who got his information from the local coffee shops (just listening in) He was usually quite accurate, before he started embellishing the story. He was smooth enough, could easily have pulled this kind of con. A very likable person. Quite charismatic!

Twenty years is not very long for an on again/off again professional relationship. If it were daily I'd be more apt to question it!

Source With No Name

On the first part of the story
I was looking at all the lies
There were slants and slurs and knocks and zings
There were plants and shills and stings
The first thing I met was a fly with a buzz
And this guy in cheap shades
The heat was hot and the ground was dry
But the air was full of sound

I've been through the newsroom on a source with no name
It felt good to handed my fame
In the newsroom you can remember your name
'Cause ol' C-N-N won't give you no pain..." - PhilDragoo

Has anyone found out exactly WHICH six other CHB articles were deleted? What other factoids and propaganda was being pushed in those articles? How far were they disseminated?

Thompson, in his latest Mea Culpa states

"The six stories that quoted this individual as an unnamed source have been removed from our article database. A search of other news sources through the Internet and on Nexis finds no evidence that any of those six stories were published elsewhere. If a further search uncovers evidence of those stories appearing on any web site or in any publication, we will contact that web site or publication and instruct them to remove the stories."

Thompson expects us to believe that these stories were published and had no other impact, anywhere. That does not say much about the impact of Thompson's writing or his website. However, I do not believe that is possible: look at the number of variations his "Wilkinson" story has engendered. His excuse for removing these offending articles smacks more of coverup and revisionism (which he has already demonstrated a penchant for) than a reverence for the truth. Without knowledge of the contents of these six articles, we cannot know the damage that may have been done.

It is possible that the removal of these offending articles is more of an effort by Thompson to hide other "creative" quotations and facts that were in reality the false imaginings of either Wilkinson or Thompson himself.

Yes, you can reprint these stories in your publication, as long truthout is given full credit as the source.

Hilarious! "Truth"out's name is so fitting... truth is definately OUT at Truthout. Truthout filed off the serial numbers of a counterfeit news story and passed he counterfeit counterfeit off as their own work! This just gets better and better.

Not even John Grisham or Stephen King could have penned fiction as good as this!

Here is a little background funding info on Truthout.

Truthout is funded by (or affiliated with) a group called SEE (Social and Environmental Entrepreneurs): Once again, it seems all these liberal activists are doing the 501(c) "non-profit" shuffle. Environmental groups aligned with anti-war groups etc.

Here are some things that make you go HMMMMM;

According to their 2001 form 990, available at www.guidestar.org and other companies which provide public records, SEE provided funds to Truthout as well as pressing "environmental" causes as:

1.The World Media Alliance

2.Unprecedented-The 2000 presidential election. An independent "film" (I'd have called it-democrats: how to spin like a top - sans vertigo.)

3.A charming little society called the J20 coalition- which is, and I'm quoting from the SEE 990 here, "a determined effort to dog Bush during the tenure of his illegitimate presidency"- Some info on them here:

http://www.actionla.org/J20/

To see the BBB report on SEE (Social and Environmental Entrepreneurs) AKA- Afghan Women's Mission, American-Soviet Film Initiative-click here:

http://www.give.org/reports/care2_dyn.asp?800

To see the form 990 on guidestar, click here (you might have to register and use truthout in a keyword search, if link doesn't work):

http://documents.guidestar.org/2001/954/116/2001-954116679-1-9.pdf

Some info on a few of SEE's board members:

Steven Sugarman

1. California State University grad -MA in research Psychology. (There is another Steven Sugarman in New Mexico who is known for his litigation on behalf of the eco-nuts. I haven't found any documentation linking the two):

http://www.thehabitattrust.org/about.html (info halfway down page)

2. Max Gail
Possibly the actor/activist: based on info here
http://www.lap.org/LAP/Full_Circle/full_circle.html

3.Andrew Beath
Profile here:
http://www.nonviolenceworks.com/snv/snv2002/AndrewBeath.htm

O.K., There's the facts, as far as I can determine, now here's the rant.

I'm no Bushbot. I've certainly disagreed with several of his policies. However, I want to know why in the HELL these non-profits can give unlimited amounts to issue advocacy groups (in my opinion, left-leaning groups like truthout and j20 coalition qualify as issue and candidate advocacy) and not be constrained by CFR and their tax-exempt status. Why does a non-taxpaying organization have more leeway and (less regulation) to spend money in political expression and candidate/election advocacy than an individual taxpayer does? (-PAGING JOHN MCCAIN-)

If I, as an individual were to send money overseas, I’d have to account for it. As far as I can determine, these "non-profits" can engage in political advocacy, ship money from one 501(c) to another (each taking a cut) or even overseas virtually unfettered. I don't know if this inequality violates IRS code, CFR, or even the equal protection clause of the Fourteenth Amendment, but I'm damn sure it is a burden on individual taxpayers and a drag on the US economy.

So the next time a liberal politician whines about "tax-cuts for the rich", and how they want to tax only "ultra-rich" corporations, tell them to start with their OWN DAMN 501(C)"NON PROFIT" CORPORATIONS!

Ranting aside, I hope there is some useful info in here for you.

I have often said, the best way to get journalism to police itself and take responsibility for their actions, especially when innocent people's lives have been destroyed, due to journalists not doing investigative background on the story prior to running it, is to pass a law.

Corrections to innacuracies must be done in the same manner and venue as the orginal story was run, twice as frequently as the orignal story.

Take for instance the Richard Jewell story. If CNN ran the story during primetime a total of 50 times, and used it as both a lead-in and teaser 30 times, then they should have to show the correction 100 times during primetime and 60 times as a lead-in and teaser.

The journalists would say that it would have a "chilling" effect on breaking news stories, but it would make them think twice about breaking news stories that ruin peoples lives without doing quite a bit of investigative and background work.

Great data and thanks for posting it and sharing it with us.

One can only wonder how much Opecker/Oil Blood Money from the Opecker Princes and Thugs has gone to these left wing 501C's the past two decades.

The sharing and comingleing of the funds received is another area of danger for the rest of us.

I agree - a very REAL danger... one of these days, I'll have to make a flowchart/family tree diagram of all these groups and their incestuous relationships. Might prove interesting...

If and when you do a "Family Tree" of the incestuous relationship of these vile left wing non profits, please ping me. They are the hidden power/funding in keeping the rats in political power.
