GW and the Elephant Incident
Reuters, AP
Posted on 07/11/2003 5:10:28 PM PDT by Arthur Wildfire! March
My fellow FReeper, if you aren't informed about the elephant incident, you need to be. How will people think you're informed if you don't find this? I checked this morning and didn't see it here in the forum. I checked this afternoon, and nothing. Not in 'search' or in the side bar. We must stay cutting edge when it comes to hold-muh-beer moments such as this.
I am very proud of the way GW reacted when he encountered the elephant incident. He had no 'party boy' wit. He is too straight laced a guy. So is his wife. While many Bush defenders might be embarassed by the entire matter, there simply is no way to hide two elephants on this open stage without looking ridiculous. It's in Reuters AND AP. [I didn't find it in the forum this morning. Luckilly, I heard it on the radio so I didn't sound uninformed at work.]
Amorous Elephants Highlight Bush Safari

Bush Sees Botswana Wildlife -- Mating Elephants
Reuters - Jul 10 11:12 AM The scrubby plains of Mokolodi Nature Reserve on the fringes of the Kalahari Desert looked a lot like Crawford, Texas, to President Bush on Thursday -- except for the mating elephants. In Yahoo! News > Entertainment > Reuters

The elephant on the bottom is the American tax payer..... LOL! To more accurately reflect the pain level, I'd say the elephant on the bottom should be replaced with a chipmunk. ;-)

"A long time left winger friend of mine told be that he is now going to vote for Bush." Just goes to show that liberals think with the wrong end. Oh well, whatever it takes.

Remember when Clinton was there and watching the elephats and said that they were too noble an animal to represent Republicans? What a scab!

"Clinton would have stayed in the truck- probably having it headed in the opposite direction" No, he'd be trying to find the one in heat.

Fox reported that Bush, seeing the elephants, made a quiet remark to Laura, she grinned and hit his leg.
The reporters assume that a Republican Christian would be embarrased at mating...but then reporters aren't aware that most Texans who have ranches know about such things...

Great Job getting the photos, I looked and looked and couldn't find any.
I'm still with Powell on this whole nature thing, I must say, I must say!

I guess it was the headline: 'Caption this Photo of Bush in Africa' didn't exactly capture the 'need to read' nature of the incident.
And then it was bumped off the side bar by yesterday afternoon for some reason, before it even had time to register in the FR search engine.
This is far too serious a matter to play hopscotch with, a matter of elephantine proportions.
Hope you have a good weekend. =]
