Accused Kitten Killer Could Face Deportation

Investigators Say Man Shows No Remorse

POSTED: 7:04 p.m. EDT July 18, 2003 UPDATED: 11:20 a.m. EDT July 19, 2003

A citizen of El Salvador living in Michigan could face deportation if convicted of felony charges of torturing and killing an animal, Local 4 reported.

Carlos Eduardo Valladares-Guillen, 24, of Wixom, was arraigned Friday on charges that he threw the family kitten out the window of his car.

The man was reportedly driving on Interstate 275 Thursday with his wife and 5-month-old daughter when witnesses said Valladares-Guillen rolled down the car window and threw out something small and furry, according to police.

"I observed that it was something full of fur. Then when it hit the ground and I saw it roll ... and it was moving and in a lot of pain. I realized it was a baby kitten," said Francisco Solano, who witnessed the incident.

Solano immediately contacted police to report the man's license plate number, Local 4 reported.

When Livonia police arrived at the scene they found a 3-month-old kitten dead on the side of the highway, Local 4 reported.

After taking pictures of the kitten for evidence, police tracked the license plate number to the man's home in Wixom. Investigators said Valladares-Guillen eventually confessed to the crime.

Valladares-Guillen plead not guilty to the felony charges in court Friday. His attorney, Sean Daigle, told Local 4 his client is not the monster the public has made him out to be.

"I just think that people should give him a chance instead of just going crazy," Daigle said. "This is just an arraignment today. We haven't heard the evidence and I think we should let that play out before they call for a hanging."

Friends and family members of Valladares-Guillen said he's a good guy who is confused about all the attention he's getting, Local 4 reported.

Detectives say Valladares-Guillen has shown no remorse for his alleged actions. "The investigator said (the man's) only remorse was that he got caught, but he really didn't have any remorse for what occurred," said Lt. Ben McDermott of the Livonia Police Department.

Valladares-Guillen has been living and working in Wixom for 5 years. He was released Friday on a $5,000 bond.

If convicted of the felony charges, he could face up to 4 years in prison and a $5,000 fine. He will also likely be deported back to El Salvador, Local 4 reported.

So THAT's the game plan for getting rid of illegals - accuse them of cruelty to animals. Works for me if it just plain works...

As a person who really does try to be reasonable, I have to remind myself that in many countries and cultures, the lives of animals mean little, and in some, the ones we consider pets are routinely eaten.

As a cat lover, however, the kindest thing I can say is, "Just deport him and get him out of my sight. I do not want his cuture around me."

Yeah, yeah, yeah...he's just a "good guy" who came here "to do the work Americans won't do....blah, blah, blah..."

Gimme a break. He's an illegal alien who threw a defenseless animal out of the window of a car because he didn't want to be bothered with it anymore.

Americans are just culturally sheltered. Throwing a kitten out of a speeding car, for instance, is a well-known, accepted custom in many different cultures. We just need to open up a little to things that are 'different'.

Maybe cultural sensitivity training is in order for all who see this as abhorrent.

I'm sorry, that mandatory 'Race, Class, and Social Justice' course I had to take so I could teach in CA really must have done a number on me.

A few years ago, I was on the jury that convicted a local scumbag of animal cruelty. The creep had grabbed a shivering kitten out of a tree and fed it, alive, to his giant Chow dog, in front of 2 neighborhood children and an old lady who had been feeding the kitten. He had laughed about it afterward, and taunted the hysterically crying children. We gave him 6 years, the maximum possible for this offense. As the prosecutor said, this is not about a dumb animal, it is about who we are and what we are willing to tolerate in our own community.

I personally despise spineless animals the likes of Carlos Eduardo Valladares-Guillen.

Friends and family members of Valladares-Guillen said he's a good guy who is confused about all the attention he's getting, Local 4 reported.

Confused? What's to be confused about? This despicable moron should be treated the same way as he treated the kitten.

Valladares-Guillen has been living and working in Wixom for 5 years.

If he's been doing it illegally he should be severely punished.

He was released Friday on a $5,000 bond.

A stupid move. No foreigner charged with any crime should be released before trial, IMO. That's why we have hundreds of thousands of 'absconder' deportees running loose around the country.

If convicted of the felony charges, he could face up to 4 years in prison and a $5,000 fine. He will also likely be deported back to El Salvador, Local 4 reported.

If convicted, Valladares-Guillen ought to face capital punishment to send a message to the rest of these loathsome squatters. What an ugly case this is.

No offence intended. It was meant to be humourous. I am a cat lover by the way.

My own moggy was run over and I spent $1600 having him patched up. Then after all that, I emigrated a couple of months later anyway and had to give him away!

An adult kitten is usually about one years old. You do know that cats are born as babies, don't you?

You're sick. You're as sick if not sicker than the topic of the thread. If someone mocks you, as you're dying on the road, don't get upset.
