Today while reading a thread that described why someone thought President Bush would not be reelected, I ran across the word paleo -- not in my dictionary! So I took the opportunity to look to see what this word meant. I became shocked while reading David Frum's description of paleoconservatives. All of a sudden, it made sense. Novak hasn't made sense for a long time and neither has Sen Hagel. But they do now!

Not to mention some Freepers on here with their anti-war, anti-everything stance!

The bold and underline are mine for emphasis! Now I know what paleo means and so will you!

This is Mandatory reading for Bush-Cheney '04 supporters because it details what we are up against from some of the "so-called" conservatives. Their idea of conservatism sure doesn't match mine or those of other Republican conservatives I associate with.

This explains some of the hatred we see on here against President Bush and his supporters. I don't mean the people that disagree with the President on issues but the Freepers that are just hateful toward the President even as a person and cannot find anything he does right. That has never made any sense to me but after reading this it does!

This article was sure an eye opener. I don't know if this was posted when it originally came out but this article needs wide circulation today to others who had no idea what a paleo was!

The paleos have their points. To see deep Paleo look to LibertyForum.com. To see a mix of paleo, neo and various conservative viewpoints look to LibertyPost.Org.

Both sites have a good number of posters who are or were FR posters.

Chuck Hagel isn't a paleocon. He's a simple opportunist, just like McCain. I don't know if he has any ideological beliefs.

You may know the names of these antiwar conservatives. Some are famous: Patrick Buchanan and Robert Novak.

I guess if you hang out at CNN too long you turn into a babbling idiot.

A helluva lot has changed since then ... you might even say this is stale; how many of their positions have changed now?

This article paints with too broad a brush and it lumps together people of some very different stripes.

Certainly, few of the people identified as being of the same mind by this article have been citing Noam Chomski's views or notions in an approving manner. Yet, the implication of this article is that these people all love and cite Chomski now.

Also, I do not believe that Robert Novak is paleo-critter. And, while Novak has been sceptical on the current war in Iraq, he is and remains a patriot. Using his scepticism on Iraq to lump him with loonies like Pat Buchanan is at best misleading.

I can't believe it either - those anti-everything people! Especially those anti-Ashcroft types. There's a WAR going on, he's doing everything possible to make Americans safe, to protect their liberties and all they can do is howl about the Constitution. It's a question of our very existence, not some ancient abstract principles.

The Supreme Court is set to rule on the Texas sodomy case!

I hear the decision regarding the University of Michigan affirmative action case is coming down soon too!

I also heard Mel Gibson is making a movie about Jesus! Anybody heard anything about it?

It's very simple really.

Paleo Conservative is the new term for Chamberlain Conservative.

Who were these war-mongering "neoconservatives"? At a June 2002 conference sponsored by the Institute for Historical Review, the leading Holocaust-denial group, Joe Sobran defined "neoconservatism" as "kosher conservatism."

The "Kosher conservative" shtick isn't original with Sobran. The KKK Democrats of the 1950s invented it to describe Yankee Rupublicans. I know this from reading the literature of the old ADL (of B'nai Brith, not of Foxman).

The B'nai Brith (Sons of the Covenant) is (or was) sort of a Jewish Knights of Columbus.

I'll admit I once liked Justin Raimundo without agreeing with him all the time. I still agree with what he said back when about Kosovo.

After 9-11 the mask came off. I cannot believe that he became an anti-Semite then, but he sure kept it quiet. The stuff he previously said about foreign aid to Israel was not inherently anti-Semitic, but since 9-11 I see what emotion was behind it.

He is after all the emotional type (wink, wink). Also a FReeper, though not heard from lately.
