GOP's King: Hillary's Attack on Bush Could Have Caused Riots
Newsmax.com ^ | 8-15-03 | Carl Limbacher

Posted on 08/15/2003 2:07:55 PM PDT by Paul Atreides

Congressman Peter King, R-NY, fired back at Sen. Hillary Clinton today, saying that her repeated attacks on President Bush as New York City slipped into darkness during last night's blackout could have provoked civil unrest.

Rep. King called Sen. Clinton's attempts to blame Bush for the blackout during several appearances on radio and TV "absolutely disgraceful."

He then noted, "There could have been some incident last night, and then you attach that to what she's saying and you get out of control and, before you know it, you have cops fighting for their lives in this city."

Within two hours of the power outage, Sen. Clinton was publicly criticizing Bush for the power failure, telling reporters, "I don't think the federal administration under this president is really focused on making sure we don't have these problems in the future."

King noted that her comments during the early evening hours came at a very precipitous moment for the city.

"We didn't know what was going to happen," he told Hannity. "And all you need is someone who's supposedly a national leader, trying to sow the seeds of division - and you have the police out there trying to keep order in the streets - and you have an elected official basically trying to divide the country, I mean, it's irresponsible to do that.

The Long Island Republican accused the former first lady of "undermining the efforts of what people like [Police Commissioner] Ray Kelly and [Mayor] Mike Bloomberg were trying to do, and Gov. Pataki - and that was to keep everyone speaking as one."

"Even if she had been right," King continued, "that is not the time to send a divisive message. . . . It was terrible."

How was that straddling the fence? There's nothing in your citation to indicate he found her comments to be correct or well-timed.

The media has given Richardson a bully pulpit without once asking him a question about his inaction as energy secretary. They simply pretended that he was never the E S. Sad...

And, Hillary takes off for Martha's Vineyard to waddle her fat butt on the beach.

I can see it now, loads of dead fish washing onto the beach...Red tide doesn't have anything on Hillary.

Really? His first quote: Rep. King called Sen. Clinton's attempts to blame Bush for the blackout during several appearances on radio and TV "absolutely disgraceful."

Now how does the fence straddler appease both sides? By ending it with the zinger Even if she had been right," King continued, "that is not the time to send a divisive message". My interpretation is that she was right to blame Bush but may have caused a riot in so doing.

Regarding Hillary and her latest misguided blast against The President. There's a song by MC HONKY (don't even ask,it's not what you think, believe me) and the Line is "...I was Wretched aaaaaaaaannndddd Viiiiiiiiiiiile..." with a nice guitar riff too. I'll have to post a link to that song someday.I think about her whenever my Liberal/Socialist workers play that song, which they did again today at lunch.

This RINO's approach has always been to straddle the fence.

Ha! You're right... thanks for pointing that out. Oh well, I agreed with MOST of what Peter King said.

Glad to see you're back online (I assume you lost power last night).

"And, Hillary takes off for Martha's Vineyard to waddle her fat butt on the beach." Any clue whose house the millionaire grifters are borrowing this time around? I seem to recall a host complaining a few years back that they didn't even bother to leave a gift or thank you note.

Instead of working to help her state, she was playing politics.

Evil witch. I pray daily that God will neutralize her influence.

Former First lady = Bess Truman, Mamie Eisenhower, Jackie Kennedy, Pat Nixon, Betty Ford, Roslyn Carter, Nancy Reagan and The Great Barbara Bush. There is no "Lady" in the foul mouthed Hillary.

Power was finally restored at 2:00 a.m. and parts of Brewster are still in the dark. What time was your power restored? My sister in Darien got power around 10:00 p.m.

The most dangerous place to be is between Hillary Clinton and an exploitable opportunity, especially if there is human suffering involved.

Well said. And she doesn't care how dishonest and hypocritical she has to be in the process.
