My computer at work does not give access to the command prompt (Duh). Is there a way to print a listing of what is in a directory with out the command prompt? Course it is a very large network. Print screen does not work, unless I need some combination that I do not know.
Tech person said since we dropped the Mac's (which I did not like) they cannot find a way to do it. Any ideas from any of you computer experts out there would be very much appreciated.
Thank you.

"cmd" or "cmd32" doesn't work from Start/Run?

Run is the command prompt and we do not have access to it.

Yes

First: Try Start Run and fill in "Command" in the box. If that doesn't get you a DOS screen...
Second: Bring up the folder in Windows view.
Press Alt-PrintScreen (puts the screen on the clipboard as a graphic)
Open a graphics program (or even Word) and paste the clipboard.
Edit the picture of the screen as necessary and print.

I will try that. It sounds like it may work. At home I use the Control print-screen and get a .BMP file and open that in MGI.
As I said, we do not have access to the command prompt.
Now, if that does not work--what did you ask about Excel for?

There is a little freeware applet called dirprint that I've used. It works well. Let me know if you need more info. I could probably e-mail it to you. Its kinda small.

I can do a macro via a Word Doc. The simple way, I cannot write one.

I have heard of that program but, of course, we can't load anything on. We are on a thin-client, no drive of any sort.
I just hate it. But I do thank you for the offer.

It might be Ctrl-PrintScreen but I think it's Alt.
I paste into Paintshop Pro and save as a jpg after cropping. You could do that with most graphic programs. You can paste the graphic into Word or Excel as well, but cropping the screen is more difficult in that case.

Your "RUN" box has been disabled through either the local machine or network security policy. If you have network admin priviliges for your local machine, and it is a local policy, you can go in and re-enable the "RUN" box through the security policy editor. If you do not, then you need to request this from your sys admin.
There isn't any other easy ways to do what you want without access to a dos prompt.
You may be able to find a 3rd party freeware utility that would do this for you, but there again you still need admin privilages on a local machine to install.

It is Cntr-prn screen. Then [insert] screen capture. The print/screen does not work.

OK -- hang on, I'll write one and post it....

On my computer, it's Fn (function)-PrintScreen and it's Edit, Paste as new image in Paintshop pro.

I got the privileges today but they it was only via a temporary command.exe. The tech that gave it to me has tried to figure out another way herself to print the screen and cannot do it. She really liked the Mac's. I just have to believe there is another way and I am going to try the to copy it.
I just thought of something. Thanks

I just thought of what happened today. I tried to copy it via a simple copy and paste and I got an error message that I did not have enough memory. I tried to do it various ways right click etc and none of them worked. Will this Alt-Print Screen really put it on the clipboard? Does it do it copy it to the clipboard in a different way--maybe more direct not using the memory? I suspect the error is not appropriate--in other words it is only a message that means nothing because the privilege has been removed.
