The cooling off period is over, I guess. Who'd a thunk it would've been required for a weather thread?
Is it still fair game to make fun of Jim Cantore? He found some sea oats or something that will actually bend in the 20 mph breeze. Oooooh, scary!

Eeeesh--Disco Stu!--no wonder he has an attitude. Caught in a 30 year time warp. Bet I could find a leisure suit, worn once that he would like.
He can't have the shirt that goes with it though. I'm saving that. One day it will be back in style . :)

Looks like she is tightening up again, with some increased convection.

Apparently, anybody remember what happened to the hurricane??? It's still out there, and NHC is still punting (not that I blame them; the diverging dynamics at work on Izzy haven't resolved themselves yet).

I plan to have a change of clothes ready, the title to the house, cars and insurance info in a plastic baggy and kept close, and also the cat carrier ready to shove the cat in. We're prepared to hightail it to the guest bathroom, which is about the only room in the house that doesn't have an exterior wall.

Bet I could find a leisure suitYellow, or that strange green polyester? Then again, there were quite a few brown ones around.

Wow. It's a little warm in here. Don't want to stengthen the hurricane, do we? I didn't think so. I'll vouch for rw, he's always been a great guy on all other threads I've seen and conversed with him on. I think "what we have here is a failure to communicate".
With that said, I saw the aftermath of Hugo first hand, and I cried. I saw my first measly f0 tornado this year, and I almost had to check my pants. Nature is furious in many ways...

I am no expert in interpreting these images, but it looks like the thing has grown in size, picked up moisture, and come closer to reforming an intact eye all within the last hour and a half. It is also starting to move very close to the gulf stream -- no coincidence, I'm sure. We might wake up to something looking very different. . .

correct...blow-up around the center....not good.
will see what happens I guess

and also the cat carrier ready to shove the cat inEasier said than done...a pair of long leather gloves, oversized beach towel, vacuum cleaner for all the flying fur, and some gauze for the claw wounds.
Putting a cat in the carrier is only second to giving a cat a bath.

I haven't tried to give this one a bath yet, but I never had trouble with my others.
If I heard a freight train in the wind (tornado), you'd be surprised at how fast I can shove a cat in a carrier.

What I am saying is that folks 30 miles inland should not be evacuating. I'm 15 miles from the Atlantic and 9 miles from the Chesapeake, and I'm not going anywhere.
Under normal circumstances I would say that a CAT 1 doesn't warrant major evacuations, etc. However in most areas of the mid-atlantic we have far from normal conditions.
The ground is so water logged that even 10-15 mph winds are toppling trees. So 50 mph, just tropical storm winds, are going to cause major troubles in many, many areas - particularly if they are sustained for any length of time and combined with even more rain. I'm sure most rural areas are similar to where I am, there is no such thing as underground lines - trees come down on power lines.
I don't see that any of us who may be in or near the final path of this beast are over reacting.

Only YOU can prevent TWC alarmism. What about TWC commercialism? Why does that doofus in Virginia Beach keep plugging the "radar by cell phone" feature? And holding up that tiny screen? It's not appropriate. Why not SHOW the radar? Not too far from saying "for the remainder of this forecast, please log on to..."

Actually, light blue. I hated the d@@ thing but bought it to be in style. Wore it once.
The shirt however is beautiful. Midnight blue, small flowers or something in light blue and white. Absolutely wrinkle free synthetic.
But, huge collars.
Who am I kidding. I couldn't button it up now.

I did go too far in my first couple posts and it just seems nobody got my point when I pointed out the facts of what was going on later, facts of poor hurricane structure pointed out by the NHC itself. I just kept picking at it, but can't anymore. Oh well, life goes on and FR is the best and I can understand the AM's frustration with my ranting.
I just hope things are okay for people in the path.
The beginning of some increased convection in the center isn't great news, though that could just be a nocturnal increase...but it could be enough to bring the strength up, which we do not want...
Thank goodness I have no relatives in the area.
Stay safe NC freepers!
