RUSH: I checked the e-mail during the break. Somebody said, "I don't understand what you mean that liberalism's a gutless choice. You need to explain that." I'll give you a story here in just a second. I'll explain, after the break coming up at the bottom of the hour. It's about my first trip to Hollywood and being pitched on the possibility of hosting my own TV show. It's a fascinating story. I've told it before, but it's so long ago, you've probably forgotten it. If you have not forgotten, if you remember, you'll find it fascinating anyway. It makes...

The Torture Taboo: Being against torture is honorable, but sometimes the real world gets a veto

For a long time I resisted the word “torture” when discussing the “enhanced interrogation techniques” used against high-value captives in the War on Terror. I don’t think I can do that anymore. The report put out by Dianne Feinstein and her fellow Democrats may be partisan, one-sided, tendentious, and “full of crap,” as Dick Cheney put it the other night on Special Report with Bret Baier. But even the selective use and misuse of facts doesn’t change their status as facts. What some of these detainees went through pretty obviously amounted to torture. You can call it “psychological torture” or...

Is torture always morally wrong? Is it sometimes justified? These are questions swirling around the nomination of Gina Haspel to head the CIA. Critics (mainly Senate Democrats) claim that torture is always wrong, even though some of those senators were aware of waterboarding and other “enhanced interrogation” for years and never once complained about it. In her defense, Karl Rove told Fox News viewers that whatever we do is legitimate if it’s for the defense of the United States. As I explain below, both sides are wrong. But first things first.Zero Dark Thirty. This is Hollywood’s version of Haspel’s backstory. She apparently supervised...

Torture is repulsive. Even on the scaffold or in front of a firing squad, a man can meet death with dignity. The torturer sets out to strip his victim of dignity, to break him, to violate not only his body but also his soul. In England, torture was outlawed in 1660, and for most of the past 350 years, that seemed to be a final verdict. Torture had been a barbarous relic of the dark ages. Anyone who suggested that it might still have a role would have been laughed to scorn; no doubt he would also have been in favour of burning witches.

Here's a torture test conducted by Youtuber Eric of IraQVeteran8888. He takes an informal approach on this SCCY CPX-2 9mm pistol and runs it through his series of torture test. those not familiar with the CPX-2 pistol is a double-action with 9-pound trigger pull. The grip and frame is made from Zytel polymer with ergonomic finger grooves and an integral "Re-Coil Cushion" on the back-strap. Here are some of the things that was done to this pistol: Dropped in the water/mudPlaced in more mud & shot it underwaterDropped the gun from the roof of house – approx 2nd floorRun it...

I have selfish reasons to do the Ice Bucket Challenge this year.To get the basement dwellers up to speed: The Ice Bucket Challenge is where a person has an ice bucket with water dumped over his head to benefit the ALS Association. In my case, I will make a donation over $100 to ALSA, and ask others I challenge to make any donation whatever or get the bucket dumped oj them… or better yet, take the bucket, make a donation and challenge others to do the same.I also give a chance to comrades to torture me with this modified version...

In a recent article (7 Things Christians Should Know About Torture), I wrote that the recent Senate Report on the C.I.A.’s interrogation techniques should be the beginning, rather than the end, of the discussion on the morality and legality of torture. Since then I’ve been encouraged by the attempts to examine the issue (though I’ve been mostly disheartened by the outcomes supported). For example, in a recent article in The Federalist, D.C. McAllister argues that “Yes, Christians Can Support Torture.” One of her primary claims is that, If government officials have a known terrorist in custody, and it is certain...

In a decisive break from his brother’s administration, Jeb Bush told Sean Hannity Tuesday night that he does not believe “enhanced interrogation” techniques, otherwise known as torture, is not “necessary” in the fight against terrorists around the world. “I don’t think that’s necessary,” Bush said. “Because I don’t think we need it, it’s not the law.”

CIA’s tactics were torture, McCain says

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) on Sunday strongly disputed claims by former Bush administration officials and fellow Republicans that harsh interrogation tactics used by the Central Intelligence Agency did not constitute torture. McCain said he had “vigorous discussion” with former Vice President Dick Cheney and former Central Intelligence Agency Director Michael Hayden during the Bush administration urging them not to use excruciating methods. “I said these things are torture. They’re in violation of the Geneva Convention and the convention against torture,” he said on CBS’s “Face the Nation,” noting that Congress later banned some of the techniques that were under debate.

THE UN’s conclusion that Australia exposes asylum-seekers to torture or inhumane treatment was reached after accepting the claims of activists without hearings or independent investigation of the facts, and was based on the lack of detailed rebuttal from the government. The report of the “special rapporteur on torture and other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment” is based on the submissions of lobby groups such as the Australian Human Rights Law Centre and concludes: “In the absence of information to the contrary, the rapporteur concludes that there is substance in the allegations presented.” ..... When the new report emerged...

Tortured Discussion about Torture

There is an argument put forth among some in Los Angeles whenever there is an eruption coming from Gaza of rockets fired into Israel. We love to hear the restraint that certain people suggest to the Israelis about the level of their military reaction to the terror raining down on their civilian population. We ask these people what would happen if there were random killer rockets landing in Brentwood or Westwood or Malibu. We are certain that limousine liberals would be demanding annihilation of the perpetrators. In the same manner it is easy for those who never have to confront...

Bullies could use VR to 'torture' their victims: Experts warn the technology may lead to psychological abuse 'The headset would take up the entire field of vision, while sounds could be used to block out the hearing, creating an eerie and hostile setting.' And it wouldn't just be a case of taking off the headset if you weren't enjoying it. The expert added: 'You would probably be restrained, so couldn't just take off the headset.'

I really miss the days of slow news cycles when the press would have to look for excuses to bury a story like this instead of somewhat legitimately burying it under the latest terrorist atrocity, whether by Islamists or Black Lives matter. Remember those innocent days of a decade ago? When stories about US soldiers torturing Iraqi prisoners at Abu Ghraib could warrant Page 1 coverage at The New York Times for 32 straight days? This is, of course, because the Left is naturally against torture. This is because they are better people than the rest of us and need to...

According to our leftist betters, a sickening graphic video showing a white man being brutally tortured in Chicago by four black attackers as they shout, "F--- Donald Trump! F--- white people!" isn't evidence of racism or a hate crime. In the left's alternate universe, Pepe the Donald Trump-loving cartoon frog is racist. Kidnapping, torturing, and scalping an innocent white man because he is white is not racist. Black-hating mass murderer Dylann Storm Roof speaks for all white people, but the newly arrested black perpetrators in Chicago, Jordan Hill, Tesfaye Cooper, Tanishia Covington, and Brittany Covington, are all rogue actors. No...

Did the Torture Report Give the C.I.A. a Bum Rap?

WASHINGTON — IN December, when the Senate Intelligence Committee issued its long-awaited report on the C.I.A.’s detention and interrogation program, it seemed to confirm what I and many human-rights advocates had argued for a decade: The C.I.A. had started and run a fundamentally abusive and counterproductive torture program. What’s more, the report found that the C.I.A. had lied repeatedly about the program’s efficacy, and that it had neither disrupted terror plots nor saved lives. The report continues to reverberate. Human-rights groups are calling for a special prosecutor to investigate Bush-era officials who authorized torture. The first C.I.A. officer to publicly...

Democrats' Wasteful Torture Report

The recent release of a Senate report commissioned by Democrats regarding torture of terrorism suspects in order to obtain vital information was a waste of $40 million of taxpayer money. It already had been documented extensively that three suspects were waterboarded and that sleep deprivation and other such techniques were used to extract vital information from terrorists. Though the report says otherwise, that information played a part in the apprehension or annihilation of many upper-echelon terrorist leaders, including Osama bin Laden. The high-profile release of this information at a time when we are engaged in war with various terrorist groups...

Horror! Asylum seeker cut off victims’ eyelids, ears and nose. Stabbed eyeballs. Police officers caught the 19-year-old tormentor during the mutilation of his victim Schlüchtern, Germany — What took place in the small town in east Hesse on Saturday exceeded the human imagination in its cruelty. The eyelids, ears and nose wings were cut off from an 18-year-old Somali. But even then his torturer did not stop! Even the prosecutor’s office has to look for words for the horror, the background of which is still in the dark. As reported by chief prosecutor Jürgen Heinze Osthessen-News on Monday, the horror...

Trump Proves Torture Works

Liberals hate torture. They claim it doesn’t work. Sorry, but President Trump just proved torture works. No, I’m not talking about beatings, stabbings, electric prods, or even waterboarding. I’m talking about the slow, relentless monotony of something akin to Chinese Water Torture. “Drip, drip, drip.” Eventually that kind of relentless, subtle torture drives people crazy. Trump concluded his torture experiment in the wee hours of Tuesday morning. That’s when he walked away from a meeting with dictator Kim Jung un of North Korea with the most astounding victory of all time. Kim apparently agreed to immediate and complete de-nuclearization....

There has been a lot of buzz on the internet lately about the reliability of a 1911 platform as a self defense pistol. For a quick torture test DRF (DownRange Firearms) Training took a Sig Sauer 1911 and my personal Glock 19, buried them in the dirt, actions open, cleared the dirt and debris from the guns and proceeded to fire the guns testing their reliability. Results The Glock performed flawlessly, the 1911, as expected, failed miserably. Glocks shot off all 15 rounds where the Sig only came up with 2 shots fired. We had fun with this one and...
