I never thought I would see Freepers rushing to the defense of a Communism like I am seeing here right now. It really shows how virulent some of the Anti-Catholicism is, Communists must be good because they oppose the "EVIL" Catholic Church. Never mind the pro-abortion positions of the Patriotic Chinese Catholic Church. I'm not to sure Blake1 knows the comparison he is making.

Look on the bright side.

Take the thread as an opportunity to update your "Trolls, Timewasters and Flamebaiters" filter and move on.

My advise is to read more and if you feel you are really in sympathy to the believer there, pay a visit to know first hand what is going on. Don't trust the press so easily or you will go into another unnecessary conflict. My understanding is only 1 to 2 percent of the citizen in china are allow to joint the ruling party based on recommendation either through work performance or other contribution. Religious figures probably are not allowed to joint. Find out for yourself before arguing or it is a waste of time.

You force me to answer with a subject you do not want to face. IMHO China is not practicing communism. That said, China does not want a Church that "tolerates" homosexuality amongst its priesthood. That is the issue between China and the Vatican.

My friend, it appears it is you that is not facing reality. Haven't you heard of Christian persecution in the COMMUNIST country of China? To say that China is not practicing Communism is ridiculous. It literally hasn't a thing to do with homosexual priests but more to do with putting people into the priesthood that will support the Communist government.

Right. And in dispute is whether it is because they are communists as some in this thread claim or because they were not ordained by the pope himself.

That's right and when the Catholics on this board tell the non-Catholics what's up and why this is going on, what do you do? Dispute it! Call us liars basically and that we don't seem to know what is going on in our own Church, LOL!

Do not lump me in with Anti-Vatican Groups. I believe that all Catholics will reunite in the future. If by some circumstances the Vatican ceased to exist all Christianity would suffer. I come from a Protestant culture and believe that if the Christian Haters "get" Rome then that would be the end of my Church. Divided we cannot stand.

Then why are you being so divisive with some of the remarks you have made about the Church here?

He does now because Catholics have patiently tried to tell him and other non-Catholics here the truth. They refuse to listen and continue to try and cast the Church here in a worse light than Communism! It's unreal.

Ummm, this is an asinine thread... The Vatican doesn't recognize the Chinese government as being able to Appoint anyone. Would you want France to appoint US state senators? Of course not. Doesn't work like that.

Anyhow, the issue is moot. The pope, as the descendant and recipient of the orders given to Peter, must anoint and elevate all bishops for them to be bishops, and to maintain the descendancy of all men who take holy orders from the original day when the Apostles were charged and empowered to do so.
TO be a catholic priest, one must receive Holy Orders from a Bishop. That Bishop must have received his orders from a Bishop. The Church as taken great pains to maintain a direct lineage to Peter himself. The Chinese government's interferance is nothing more than the latest attempt by a usurper to divert power from the Church for political means.

You should all, even you Protestants, know this already.
