Has history repeated itself? Henry VIII wanted to appoint English Bishops without Vatican approval. Maybe the head of the Chinese Government wants a divorce!

With their brownnosing "patriotic church" the Chinese government needs only to shift them to Orthodox designation.

The ChiComs have been appointing bishops quietly for a while. Sometimes, despite their 'elevation,' the Vatican has affirmed these bishops quietly, making them legit. The Chinese are obviously sending up some individuals that the Vatican doesn't want. I'm glad to see 'em booted, but why excommunication, unless these priests requested state-sanctioned elevation?

Disproportionate response!!!

How dare the pope commit such acts of savagery! The Vatican is committing war crimes against the innocent Chinese bishops.

Thanks to the evils of liberalism here and in Europe, the genie is now out of the bottle.

Thankfully the Judeo Christian God doesn't excommunicate His followers. Some people have nerve ... .

No, the Vatican doesn't want Communist supporters as Bishops, that's the issue.

Yet the corrupt American bishops continue in their luxurious abodes. Curious.
