I apologize for posting a religious article to the Romney list but given recent events, I thought the topic was a good one for everyone and not just Romney's LDS supporters.

Things have been a little depressing of late so, when a speaker in Sacrament meeting today referenced Elder(now President) Uchdorf's speech from last General Conference, I thought it was a good message for us at this time. God is in His heaven; He is in control. All of the stuff we deal with here on FR and elsewhere is not nearly as important as we think it is. It gave me comfort today and I hope it did for you.

God is IN control!

Thanks for reminding us Reaganesque!

"My dear brothers and sisters, there will be days and nights when you feel overwhelmed, when your hearts are heavy and your heads hang down. Then, please remember, Jesus Christ, the Redeemer, is the Head of this Church. It is His gospel. He wants you to succeed. He gave His life for just this purpose. He is the Son of the living God."

Unformtunately for me, when the days and nights are darkest in my life, I rely more on Jesus Christ to get me through from one minute to the next. If it weren't for His strength, I don't know how I could have survived. Somehow, some way there come mornings of sunshine and moments of joy even in the midst of affliction and it's then I know that no matter how my heart aches, there is still those moments of God's tender mercies to lift me up.

I would feel more comfortable if somehow you Reaganesque and some other knowledgeable people could start another conservative site for those who would feel more free to discuss Jesus Christ, politics and world events among ourselves, friends and civilized grownups without being assaulted and maligned by those who seem to know more about me, my thoughts and heart than I do. I've appreciated FR over the years and the great service it has provided; nevertheless, it's been a disappointing time.

Thank you so much, Reaganesque! I love this talk and it truly is so timely! I shared it with several friends of mine from other denominations, and they all felt to blessed to have read it. What a beautiful testimony of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Also, please add me to the list of people who would like to be directed to a friendlier site. I’ve been a member of this site for many years, but I can see that it’s time to move on. :-(

This belief distinguishes Latter-day Saints from many other Christian denominations

Isn't the precedent that making a distinction with other groups invalidate any protected status?

Thanks Reaganesque, for these uplifting words. I’ve been really down since Thursday and this was a much needed shot of optimism.

Query: what is the purpose of this thread? Do you post new talk every day?

Nice to see the Catholics joining with Latter-day Saints to celebrate the gospel message, as opposed to some of the bickering and attacks from the bigots of the “religious right.”

***bigots of the “religious right.”***

And who exactly would those bigots be? Someone who thinks the LDS is wrong and pointed that out or have you been personally attacked on FR?

And who exactly would those bigots be?

A bigot is defined by LDS members as anyone who expresses any valid reason to reject the idea that the LDS church is not the "Only True Church" it claims to be. The LDS are quick to point out that all other churches are false, but when anyone suggests that the LDS Church is false, they are branded a religious bigot.
