The War of Gog and Magog
RaptureReady.com ^ | Not Given | Joseph Chambers

Posted on 01/11/2009 11:49:33 AM PST by GiovannaNicoletta

As the greatest supernatural intervention of human history -- a defense right out of heaven above -- Israel's God is going to reveal Himself. When this Divine display is finished, the Muslim religion will be stripped of all its glory. It will no doubt cause great anger among the hard core Muslims that escape death but a turning to Jesus Christ of those honest individuals that see the glory of our Eternal God. The Muslim religion is a farce when it is seen for what it really represents. Already millions of former Muslims have turned to Christ and the harvest has barely begun. One Saudi sheikh says in disgust that six million Muslims are converting to Christ yearly.

This coming war will serve as the eternal design of Bible prophecy. Men may well look at such a catastrophic devastation as cruel and beyond the acts of a Holy God, but this expression of wrath has been building for many centuries. It will include judgments against many vile and Godless acts of terror, great hatred manifest against the Jewish people, and hatred toward God Himself. Germany will receive her final judgment for the Holocaust and Russia will be judged for her atheistic hatred against her own people, as well as against Israelis and Christians. The Muslim religion will answer for centuries of vileness and defiance against the true and living God. The catastrophic level of God's wrath will be in the exact proportion to the wicked history of the nations involved.

This war could not occur until the nation of Israel was back in a portion of the Promise Land. There is not enough military might in the entire armies of the world to change God's promises. Israel is already a rich nation and is becoming richer every day. Their military is without parallel. They have discovered massive reserves of oil and eventually that discovery will be greater than all the Arab nations combined. How do we know that their oil deposits will be the world's greatest? The Promise Land and her treasures were ordained to flow as "milk and honey."

There are several promises for the discovery of oil by the Jewish people. God said, "For the precious things of heaven, for the dew, and for the deep that coucheth beneath…for they shall suck of the abundance of the seas, and of treasures hid in the sand…and let him dip his foot in oil" (Deuteronomy 33:13, 19, and 24). Someone can argue whether "the deep that coucheth beneath, treasures hid in the sand" or "dip his foot in oil" means oil deposits; but if we take these words literally, they are indeed powerful.

It is important that we know the Biblical reason for the War of Gog and Magog. It is Israel's riches and abundance that Russia covets. We know why the Muslims want to eliminate Israel, but Russia and much of her coalition forces want the treasures and wealth. If you study the unbelievable agricultural success, the technological brilliance, the military capabilities, and then add the possibility of billions of barrels of black gold, you will understand that Russia can see nothing but worldwide wealth and dominance.

One of their top politicians and advocates of this war to the south has left no room for guessing. Here are the words of Vladimir Volfovich Zhirinovsky, a strategic ally of Putin:

The mighty God of our Bible has allowed enough of His extension of grace. It's time for judgment and it's time to make all His glory visible to the human family. Listen to God's promise of intervention. "And thou shalt come up against my people of Israel, as a cloud to cover the land; it shall be in the latter days, and I will bring thee against my land, that the heathen may know me, when I shall be sanctified in thee, O Gog, before their eyes. Thus saith the Lord GOD; Art thou he of whom I have spoken in old time by my servants the prophets of Israel, which prophesied in those days many years that I would bring thee against them? And it shall come to pass at the same time when Gog shall come against the land of Israel, saith the Lord GOD, that my fury shall come up in my face" (Ezekiel 38:16-18).

I pray that America will be there to help in this hour, but we will not be needed. I actually believe, contrary to many, that we will be faithful to Israel to the end. That will be the reason God honors America as a sheep nation in Matthew chapter twenty-five. Regardless, this will end the worldwide threat from Muslim terrorists and will sweep the Temple Mount in Jerusalem of every semblance of the false sun-god, named Allah.

Unnamed pestilences and blood will rain on the army of millions. The rain will be overflowing and mixed with hailstones, fire, and brimstones. It will be massive and will actually fall from Heaven in such a manner that no one will doubt that it is God Himself that fights for Israel. The Bible is careful to state that the slaughter of this mob of wicked people extends back to their staging countries and capital cities. "And I will send a fire on Magog, and among them that dwell carelessly in the isles: and they shall know that I am the LORD. So will I make my holy name known in the midst of my people Israel; and I will not let them pollute my holy name any more: and the heathen shall know that I am the LORD, the Holy One in Israel" (Ezekiel 39:6-7).

Magog represents the Russian capital of Moscow and this Scripture includes the other nations which join this coalition. The judgment will leave no doubt about God's rejection of the Muslim Koran and religion. The world is trying to convince us that the Muslim god is identical to our Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ. This lie will die with Gog and Magog in the mountains of Israel and in the nations that join this end time war.

The glory of God will be manifest and the world will know. Out of this massive judgment will be a mighty visitation of Holy Ghost awakening. Joel settled the utter destruction of the Northern horde and promised the Latter Rain of God's Spirit. He said by the Holy Spirit, "But I will remove far off from you the northern army… Fear not, O land; be glad and rejoice: for the LORD will do great things" (Joel 2:20a, 21). He added the Latter Rain promise two verses later, "He will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month" (Joel 2:23b). The first month is the Feast of Trumpets, the next unfulfilled feast of Israel. It is also a Jewish type for the coming Rapture of Christ's Bride.

We are living in the golden age of the prophetic finishing of all things. Keep your eyes on the Holy Scripture and your heart in total surrender to the Lordship of our Savior and Captain, Jesus Christ.

None will understand this until they study the Standard Works of The Church of Jesus Christ which connects the dots from the beganning of existance down to this day and age that we live.

Yup!

THEY are a great help!!

They don't even contain the rituals that are performed in LDS Temple Rites®.

And THEYT offer NO help in keeping an Organization from FRAGMENTING.

The reason there are so many MORMON Organizations  is because the Bible is subject to every spin that comes down the pike,
along with disagreements about all the other 'scriptures' that the faithful are SUPPOSED to BELIEVE in: BoM, D&C's, PGP, BoA... ad nauseum.

"We do not indorse the teachings of any so-called Mormons or Latter Day Saints, which are in conflict with the gospel of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, as taught in the New Testament and the Book of Mormon. They have departed in a great measure from the faith of the Church of Christ as it was first established, by heeding revelations given through Joseph Smith, who, after being called of God to translate his sacred word--the Book of Mormon--drifted into many errors and gave many revelations to introduce doctrines, ordinances and offices in the church, which are in conflict with Christ's teachings."

-- David Whitmer (an elder in the Church of Christ), 1887

Today, there are as many as 100 organizations claiming to be a part of the Latter Day Saint movement, most centered in Utah or Missouri. Most regard their own group, however small, to be the only legitimate Christian church. Most of these organizations are very small, but overall, but the second largest denomination, the Community of Christ, reports over 200,000 members.

Just a sampling...........

And the LATEST in the news: FUNDAMENTALIST Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

The idea that the church will be raptured away before the period of tribulation sounds good, because no one wants to go through persecution or hardship, but the fact is that throughout history Christians have suffered for their faith, and there will be no relief from that until the end of the world.

Indeed!

I don't believe in the rapture per se, but I do believe God's people will be sealed, or that He will supernaturally protect them from the wrath that is to come. This is more in line with His word given what He's done for saints in the past.

Revelation 12:10-11
10. Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say: "Now have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Christ. For the accuser of our brothers, who accuses them before our God day and night, has been hurled down.
11. They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.

May we be found in this group!

Dawber attended North Farmington High School and Oakland Community College. She began her career as a fashion model with Wilhelmina Models and went on to a career as an actress. From 1978 to 1982, she played one of the title roles in the ABC sitcom Mork & Mindy: Mindy McConnell, the comedic foil and eventual love interest for the extraterrestrial Mork from the planet “Ork”, played by Robin Williams. (In the 1992 movie Stay Tuned, Dawber would parody her Mork & Mindy character, starring with John Ritter, who would parody his Three’s Company role.) From 1986 to 1988, Dawber again had the title role in a series, playing Samantha Russell in the CBS sitcom My Sister Sam; her co-star, Rebecca Schaeffer, was murdered a year later.

Dawber has a four-octave soprano voice. She featured as Mabel, in a Los Angeles Civic Light Opera production (based on the Joseph Papp/New York Shakespeare Festival production) of Gilbert & Sullivan’s The Pirates of Penzance.

Dawber is a national spokeswoman for Big Brothers Big Sisters of America.

[edit] Personal life
She has been married to actor Mark Harmon since March 21, 1987. The couple have two sons: Sean Thomas Harmon (born April 25th, 1988) 20, a college student and Ty Christian Harmon (born June 25th, 1992) who’s 16 and still in high school.[1]

Dawber has a four-octave soprano voice.

as Chico Marx once said, when his young lady music student said....

“I have a falsetto voice.”

Chico then says, “Well, my last student had a false set of teeth.”

I’m not one that agrees with the sounds like theories either. The maps I can come up with regarding the ancient Hebrew world shows most of the countries mentioned are in Asia Minor (not counting the obvious ones not associated with that region) with the country of Magog between the Black sea and on up and around the top of the Caspian Sea which is like Georgia and the lower parts of Russia.

How this plays out will of course not become completely transparent until it happens or just before so I’m not losing any sleep over it :) I’m just watching.

“..who do you think God will be using to preach to the unsaved during the Tribulation?” ~ gost2

“...Surely, the critics and dispensationalists say, the gospel wasn’t preached to the entire world by 70; it hasn’t even reached some people now! But we need to look behind a key word: world — this time, it isn’t aion, and it also isn’t kosmos, the word which indicates the broadest possible connotations, as we noted earlier — this time, it is oikoumene, a word used to express only the Roman Empire (cf. Acts 11:28, Luke 2:1).

It is significant that this is the only place Matthew uses this word; he has selected it carefully as a geographical delimitation; it is also significant that he has used this word rather than kosmos as he did with reference to the spreading of the Gospel correspondent with the separation of the justified and the wicked.

The gospel had to be preached to the Roman Empire as a whole before the end of the age. Was this fulfilled? According to the NT, it was (Rom. 10:18, 16:25-7; cf. 2 Tim. 4:17; see also Rom. 1:8 and Col. 1:6, which uses kosmos hyperbolically).

Secular history would agree that there were churches as far away from Judea as Italy; evidence of evangelism in places like Britain and Germany are based only on tradition. Nevertheless, with a church in Rome by the 50s, it could hardly be argued that evangelism in Britain, the farthest-flung part of Rome’s Empire with respect to Judea, was not likely by 70.

Matthew 24:15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)

Mark 13:14 But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not, (let him that readeth understand,)

Dispensationlists tell us that this refers to a yet future Temple, and to the actions of one called Antichrist with a capital A. But here for the first time, Luke offers a very interesting divergence:

Luke 21:20 And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh.

Luke as a Gentile writer has a propensity to explain peculiar Jewish twists to his Gentile readership; “faced with a cryptic allusion to Daniel, they would not be in a position to obey the command” to read and understand [Wr.JVG, 359]. It seems clear — especially since the Greek word for “desolation” is the same in all three Gospels — that he thinks that the “abomination of desolation” as to do with Jerusalem being surrounded by armies.

A few observations, now that we have looked at Daniel and its own fulfillment in 70 AD.

First, it is worth noting that the Josephus, not at all having the Olivet Discourse in mind, saw the Daniel prophecy as fulfilled with the destruction of the Temple in 70 and regarded the shedding of priestly blood in the sanctuary as the desecration or abomination that caused the 70 desolation [Keener, Matthew commentary, 576].

Josephus called the Temple “no longer a place fit for God” [War 5.1.19] and said that God was the author of its destruction.

Second, Luke’s indication is that the coming of the armies signifies that the “abomination” is soon to take place, and that the desolation will occur soon thereafter.

So do we have a pre-70 event that fits the bill? We do indeed — it happened when the Jewish Zealots, those ancient terrorists, occupied the Temple and committed various acts of sacrilege, including using sacred materials for war and crowning a “high priest” in a farcical ceremony.

The retired priest Ananus himself used the word “abominations” to describe what happened. They committed bloodshed in the temple sanctuary, thereby profaning it by killing the innocent [Keener, ibid. — and it was exactly three and a half years after this “desecration” that the Temple was destroyed; for the relevance of this, see our Daniel article http://www.tektonics.org/esch/danman.html ].

As an added note.... http://www.tektonics.org/esch/olivet01.html

There is nothing in the Bible about them being “played out again”. Literal ancient Babylon was long gone by the time the NT was written. Everyone knew that. And so we can find no verse in the NT that speaks of a resurrected, future literal Babylon. It only exists in the futurist fantasy interpretation.

Paul explicitly says that what happen to them for examples: are written for our warning, upon whom the ends of the age are come. Paul knew that maybe he is just a futurist fantasy writer to you as well. I remember reading what Jeremiah told that King of Judah, and what that King of Judah did with the writings of Jeremiah and what then happened to him and his sons.

There is no “king of Babylon” because there is no Babylon. If you want to spiritualize all the prophecies, that’s fine by me, but you might want to think about the implications.

Right, well old Saddam has joined his fathers, but he sure did not get that message as he all but rebuilt old Babylon brick by brick. Course he could not get the Germans to return that Ishtar gate they have housed in some museum in Berlin, as well as somebody to reconfigure the hanging gardens. But physically speaking old Babylon was rebuilt.

And apparently you are unaware of what traditions of old Babylon that got brought out when the second temple was built and like leavening got added into some batches of mix of Christianity even to this day.

Now Christ even quotes Daniel in Mark 13:19 For in those days shall be affliction, such as was not from the beginning of the creation which God created unto this time, neither shall be.

What verse from Daniel is Jesus quoting in Mark 13?

Daniel 12:1 And at that time shall Michael (isn't he Michael spiritual? So maybe this won't apply to your interpretations) stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy People: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at the time thy People shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.

4 But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.'

You know just reading Daniel 10, 11, and 12 there is no point in having this discussion. Obviously based upon your claims this is all old news, and the book is sealed to you anyway.

"If I had the chance, I’d prefer to stay behind and do what I can to get as many in the fold as possible. Since the time line is pretty much set up, after three and a half years I’d been in Petra with my fellow converts partying like mad waiting for Christ to appear. Don’t get me wrong I’d work too, but I’d still kick back and happily wait to meet Christ. I would spend free time writing questions to ask."

Isn't that special.

Since this part of the Bible is prophecy it requires faith. If you don't believe then you will be surprised. It is just that simple. The post was to settle nothing. It was to show the prophecy in a picture. It seems you have not settled with God yet. I am here to settle nothing.

Paul explicitly says that what happen to them for examples:

Babylon? Where do you get that from? I think you are misinterpreting Paul’s intent.

Right, well old Saddam has joined his fathers, but he sure did not get that message as he all but rebuilt old Babylon brick by brick.

If you think Saddam was mentioned in the Bible, then you are sadly mistaken. Saddam got what was due to him by God’s providence, just as many tyrants have for centuries. Again, you are misappropriating the Bible without any warrant.

“What verse from Daniel is Jesus quoting in Mark 13?”

Daniel 12:1

Actually, there is similar language found throughout the OT, so there is no evidence that Jesus had Daniel 12 in mind. It’s called hyperbolic language and it is common in the Bible. It’s a figure of speech.

Just check out these verses:

“Then there shall be a great cry throughout all the land of Egypt, such as was not like it before, nor shall be like it again” (Exodus 11 :6). {Plagues of Egypt}

“And I will do among you what I have never done, and the like of which I will never do again, because of all your abominations” (Eze. 5:9). (Judgment via the Babylonian Captivity)

“And He has confirmed His words, which He spoke against us and against our judges who judged us, by bringing upon us a great disaster; for under the whole heaven such never has been done as what has been done to Jerusalem” (Dan. 9:12). {Same event}

You know just reading Daniel 10, 11, and 12 there is no point in having this discussion. Obviously based upon your claims this is all old news, and the book is sealed to you anyway.

No, actually was only sealed until the time foretold, which was the coming of Messiah. There was much Jewish history between the time Daniel was given his vision until the coming of Messiah … history which is often ignored by the futurists. A lot of folks twist the words today to make them future, but they are not for the most part.

It’s very easy to look at current events and find things in the Bible that seem to fit, especially to the untrained. It’s much harder to do sound exegesis of the text and come to interpretations that fit with all we know from the Bible.

I am sorry I cannot follow your interpretations .... I have no clue what Scriptures you use except one.

There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

Now do you hold that in Christ Jesus there is neither male nor female? Or do you think the male still has the superior role?
