Hmmmm, why then is the phrase "Lying for the Lord" so tightly linked to mormons.

Linked by whom? The only ones I have known to use the phrase are enemies of the LDS church. I have never known Latter-day Saints to use it, much less recommend it.

Maybe because it's better to focus on something fresh and healthy, rather than just refighting those old battles from your past, time and time again. As it is, you seem to be stuck in a very narrow trench. Again, just an observation.

Yeah, we can just imagine you being the apostle Paul's self-appointed spiritual advisor, r9etb. You begin by looking over the past several-year itinerary of Paul -- once Saul, a former zealous proselyte of Judaism -- revisiting those old Synagogue "haunts."

R9etb's 'Lecture of Lectures' [when you get to the italicized content, ask yourself...Hmm...where have we heard that before?]:

"Paul," says r9etb, "I see you hit up the Salamis synagogue." (Acts 13:5)
"Then on to the Pisidian Antioch synagogue." (13:14)
"Then you went to the Iconium synagogue." (14:1)
"And after that, Paul, I see you went to the Thessalonian synagogue." (17:2)
"Hmmm...Now, Paul really. Then the Berean synagogue?" (Acts 17:10)
"And the Athens synagogue, too?" (17:17)
"And Corinth? You went to the Corinth synagogue as well?" (18:1)
"And then on to the Ephesus synagogue?" (18:19), thereby encouraging Apollos to go there, too? (18:26)
"And the Ephesus synagogue wasn't enough to go there once? You just had to return there after visiting Corinth?" (19:9)

"I mean really, Paul. 'Maybe because it's better to focus on something fresh and healthy, rather than just refighting those old battles from your past, time and time again. As it is, you seem to be stuck in a very narrow trench. Again, just an observation,' Paul."

"Paul, 'we have your intense, laser-like focus on' Jews. 'and your insistence that others share your position. To the disinterested observer it seems strange and obsessive,'Paul. 'Just saying'....

My ‘laser like’ focus is because it is where I am called. Why don’t you get that. I’m not re-fighting my old battles, I am trying to prevent others from making the same mistakes I did and to show the LDS the truth about their religion and Christ they way I was shown.

Bottom line, if God wants me elsewhere, and to witness to a different group. He (not you) will put me there. Do not assume that I am so hyper-focused that I do not listen to the Spirit or that this has a negative impact on my walk.

Your observations are incorrect and frankly unChristian. Most Christians have a concern for all lost, even if they are called to a specific group, but you want to seem to give the LDS a pass.

What is with your ‘love fest’ with Mormons? What is your religion/faith/tradition?

It is sad, they have their own version of the Neo-nazi “replacement theology”, mixed with their racist past, it really isn’t a surprise they praised Hitler to avoid getting singled out during the Third Reich.

- - - - - - -
I have. Scriptural support is found in the Book of Abraham: Chapter 2 where GOD COMMANDS ABRAHAM TO LIE! And it certainly has been practiced by your church and leaders.

22 And it came to pass when I was come near to enter into Egypt, the Lord asaid unto me: Behold, Sarai, thy wife, is a very fair woman to look upon;
23 Therefore it shall come to pass, when the Egyptians shall see her, they will say—She is his wife; and they will kill you, but they will save her alive; therefore see that ye do on this wise:
24 Let her say unto the Egyptians, she is thy sister, and thy soul shall live.
25 And it came to pass that I, Abraham, told Sarai, my wife, all that the Lord had said unto me—Therefore say unto them, I pray thee, thou art my asister, that it may be well with me for thy sake, and my soul shall live because of thee.

The rumors of Alex Murphy's banning have been greatly exaggerated.

Looks like a HTML joke, I've seen it done before.

***Loving that nasty _________ (inset most despised person / group) - there is the hard stuff. The impossible that is demanded.***

There is ONLY one cure for that and that is to pray for that person/group evertime their name enters your mind...sometimes it takes weeks, sometimes days, and sometimes satan knows you mean it and leaves after a couple of tries..

Hmmmm, why then is the phrase "Lying for the Lord" so tightly linked to mormons. Why do your apostles teach members not to answer the question asked, but what mormons want to answer.

You know I never even saw the word "prevarication" (to engage in this means to deviate from the truth/distort) til several years ago -- in a Mormon context.

(I guess that's why when you put the word "prevarication" in a Google search alongside "Lds" you "only" get 58,300 hits...even though Lds are just 2% of the American population and constitute the slimmest of slivers worldwide)

The prophet does not have the final word; God does. As a Latter-day Saint, I am not obligated to agree with or defend everything that the leaders of the church have ever said. I have the right and obligation to ask God to reveal the truth to me by the power of the Holy Ghost.

That is convenient to say the least.

However it does lead to a couple of “issues”

First your leaders are not simply just preachers or ministers but full blown “prophets of god”. That is no small matter if you believe as Christians do that a Prophet is a very special individual. In fact it produces a contradiction with in the first words of your statement above, because a prophet speaks for god, who as you say, has the final word.

Second, another issue you introduce is the fact that if you recieve a revelation from god the runs counter to a revelation of a “prophet" of what I would assume is the same god, how exactly do you resolve that? I would think you would default to what god tells you vs. the prophet, but then you are in a quandary, for you are now part of a church that is lead by a false prophet.

So what now?

Yes, I have read Sinners in the hands of an angry God.

May I ask why you are not answering my question about Paul?

How many FReepers, upon looking at the itinery in post #597 -- as well as the content of what was said in some of those circumstances...and...
...not knowing it came from the book of Acts, would be quick to label the apostle Paul as "guilty" of "intemperate zeal"??

The key to zeal is its bottom-line purpose: It is FINE to be zealous, provided the purpose is GOOD, and to be so ALWAYS... (Gal. 4:18)
