This is about 21 mos too late. The zeal of some voting for Obama could have been curtailed.

54% of Roman Catholics voted for Obama.

45% of Protestants voted for Obama.

Worth a repost:

If we did not love people we would be indifferent to their eternal destination .

Wonder what Christ meant in Luke 12:49?

I am come to send fire on the earth; and what will I, if it be already kindled?

50 But I have a baptism to be baptized with; and how am I straitened till it be accomplished!

51 Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather d i v i s i o n:

52 For from henceforth there shall be five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three.

53(Then Christ quotes Micah 7:6) The father shall be divided against the son, and the son against the father; the mother against the daughter, and the daughter against the mother in law, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.”

Micah’s writings became one and the same as the Gospel, so what did Micah write? Are Christ’s own WORDS intemperate and filled with indiscreet zeal? Things are happening just as the holy prophets foretold and we have the script.

Do you believe that, where preaching the Gospel is concerned, our behavior does not matter?

I thought I was more clear than that...Some atheists exibit good behavior...Some muzlims exibit good, religious behavior...And in the case of the religious, some actually look religious...As is the case with Francis and Khomeini...

Compared to His contemporaries, Jesus didn't look religious at all...And without Jesus' or Paul's words, how would you know the Gospel, or to be the follower of Jesus??? By watching Francis???

“Maybe because I’m old enough to be your mother...”

Even if you are, it’s irrelevant b/c that doesn’t make me a kid. I have several children of my own.

“and maybe because of your wild unfounded accusations against other FReepers...”

Sure about that? Check this very thread for confirmation of my original post. I’ve been treated worse by so-called religious FReepers than any others.

“and maybe because of your attempt to high jack the thread like a basement bound bored kid might...”

Hijack? This behavior was the whole point of the thread. And my comment was a test. And you failed, like a half dozen others already. Is this what passes for critical thinking in your community? what a joke.

Much of the worst behavior on the Religion Forum is obviously the fruit of intemperate and/or indiscreet zeal. Once we all realize this, it should change our posting habits here.

Much of the worst behavior on the Religion Forum is the result of simple deviation from forum rules established by the Religion Moderator, who by the way does a commendable job. I'm as guilty as anyone and have made a serious attempt at turning over a new leaf.

That said, the irony is that religion is a deeply personal subject so the line is very thin. I believe we have more in common than we know. For example, if you and I were to meet at a Tea Party we would very likely spend the entire day enjoying great conversation without ever discovering each other's religious beliefs. It is only when they are posted in black and white do we assume a defensive posture and become rivals.

I've often pondered if FR would be better without the Religion Forum however I then remind myself that our country was founded on Christian principals and I appreciate the prayer threads for fellow FReepers when they are ill, etc..

The prayer thread for the forum was sobering in that it reminded us no matter how passionate we are about a topic, at the end of the day, we claim to call ourselves Christians and worship the same God.

We will continue to have our disagreements however we must conduct ourselves as if the debate was occurring at a post-worship Sunday ice-cream social and not a MMA octagon.

HOW THE FAITHFUL VOTED (Pew)

Catholics, too, moved noticeably in a Democratic direction in 2008; overall, Catholics supported Obama over McCain by a nine-point margin (54% vs. 45%).

Gee, I had no trouble finding it.

In fact, I hear it preached at church on Sunday about once a year ...

I once heard it preached that if the gospel does not offend it is not the gospel .

- - - - -
I have heard similar things, that the point of hearing the Gospel isn’t to make us comfortable, it is to make us UNCOMFORTABLE, if we aren’t uncomfortable, we aren’t getting the message.

I thought I was being discreet in that post.

Perhaps by comparison to other posts on this forum ... including some of the blasts I have cut loose in the past.

“They can’t argue from Scripture so they make it personal.”

Bwahahaha! You embedded this sentence in a giant personal attack on Roman Catholics! Oh, and then you finished it off with the John 3:19 quote that was supposed to imply what, that my deeds are evil? Hahaha!! My first post was a test and you failed, along with several others who represent Jesus’ faith so poorly.
