But the Bible tells you to stay home, find a dark corner and pray there in private. Oh wait, it was Jesus who said that, not Paul, so it doesn't count.

Chapter and verse please. Show us where Jesus commands us to isolate ourselves to worship.

LOL! You certainly have a way with words! ;-)

Scripture is the final authority, not any church.

If you choose to place yourself under their usurping authority, that’s your business, but don’t expect or demand everyone else blindly follow you in your delusions or deceit.

INDEED.

I have a pretty authentic donkey bray . . . having grown up around a pretty good donkey. I’ve been known, even in restaurants . . . when someone says “Let us pray” to let forth. Some folks are quite discombooobalated. Most are amused.

IIRC there was another one (I thought there was one between Calvinists and Arminians, but that might have started about talks ending between Catholics and Baptists) and there have also been a few others that weren't religious in nature. Regardless, a thread stops taking posts at or before post #65,535 (216 - 1).

"Shall we compare the two?"

By all means. Both of the links you cited are bogus. Post 11,895 simply says "Nope" and www.ancient-hebrew.org/39_exodus.html. leads to a page error.

Let's begin again. Shall we compare the two?

“a dark corner”? Really? Wherein is “a dark corner” for praying mentioned by Jesus?

Jesus and the disciples prayed in public on several occasions per John chapters 6, 11, 17 and Acts chapter 1.

Evidently Jesus was contrasting the sincere prayers that should be offered with the hypocritical prayers of those who prayed to be seen. (Matt. chapter 6)

You have a way with words. Great description.

Especially when he plagarizes the words of others.

I agree. The authority from the pit.

It's all about good VS. evil.

The Christians - Pro Word VS. the Catholics - Anti Word.

Jesus/The Living Word vs. man-made teachings, catechism.

The Authority of God/The Light vs. the authority of satan/the dark.

For It is Written - the Words of Jesus that satan hates.

Praise God for HIS Son, The Living Word! THANK YOU, JESUS!

By now you should know enough to give the source of the photos. Otherwise, totally meaningless.

By now you should have learned how to find the source of any photo posted.

Waste your own time.

Chapter and verse please. Show us where Jesus commands us to isolate ourselves to worship.

Jesus never commanded His followers to withdraw from society ..in fact just the opposite., we are to go out into the world ..to be IN the world but not of it .

That is why we know that monasteries are outside of the will of God.
They were started to remove themselves from the temptations of flesh, the temptations of the world ...and to spend all their time in meditation..

That is very different from the need to spend time alone with God in prayer

Matthew 6 is addressing the sin of pride and the way to pray ... .

Mat 6:1 ¶ Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.
Mat 6:2 Therefore when thou doest [thine] alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
Mat 6:3 But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth:
Mat 6:4 That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.
Mat 6:5 ¶ And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites [are]: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
Mat 6:6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
Mat 6:7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen [do]: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
Mat 6:8 Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.
Mat 6:9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

"Scripture is the final authority, not any church."

Sorry, you get an incomplete on that assignment. The final authority is the Revealed Word of God, all 100% of it, not just the portion contained in Scripture.

You see, the Apostles wrote the New Testament and decided what should go in and in what order. They then translated this into 17th century English and hid it away for 16 centuries. The great scholar King James I read over this and was delighted. He proclaimed it free from error and millions of The Reformed® emerged from their hiding places (they had been practicing "real" Christianity all along) and began to practice YOPIOS.

LOL! That is funny!

Making a rather obvious and avoidable blunder is common enough, we all do it and as has been shown by another poster on this thread, the best way to handle such mistakes is just to “’fess up”, eat a bit of crow and be more careful in the future.

But, Reg, if you've followed this exchange I've had (against my better judgment and instincts) with NL that simple prescriptive lesson is not likely to be followed.

Why? Anyone can follow the posts and draw their own conclusions.
Anyway it's all about stone throwers in glass houses, eh?

Oh, yes, now it all makes sense. I believe I skipped school that day... :)
