Ever seen something like this? (Beck Rally)
Reformation Theology ^ | Rev. John Samson

Ever seen something like this?

Have you ever seen something like this in the Bible - God saying, "Go meet with the Baal worshippers' and arrange a huge rally, an ecumenical service - talk about honor and integrity and family values.. and you can pray to Me, of course, and they can pray to Baal - in fact, hold the priest of Baal's hand as he prays.. that will be such a nice touch.. and its quite ok with me.. I, the Lord your God, the holy One, really don't mind.. that's because it will show so much love to people and it will open hearts to My religion and everyone will so appreciate you not being closed minded elitist bigots. It will do wonders for people's view both of you and of Me. Go do this in My Name."?

Ever seen that? Even a hint of it? No? Me neither. - JS

I agree that the official holiday was probably a concession to help pagans to convert to Christianity...but what we call it is not all that important ..what is important is that we remember the crucification and that Christ died for us during the passover to fulfill OT prophecy. Jesus revealed the prophetic nature of the passover when He said now do this in memory of me..

We celebrate the resurrection as proof the Father accepted the sacrifice and that it was sufficient for the sin of man.. The proper historic time frame would be during the Jewish passover.

I think we need to remember that to the elect, the saved all things are clean and we are free to celebrate Christ at Easter.

Tts 1:15 Unto the pure all things [are] pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving [is] nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled.

Why do you in the asylums always need to make junk up? That’s rhetorical BTW. No need for more crazy talk.

Celebrate what you will. I don’t care what you call it. On Easter, I celebrate the risen Christ. That celebration started long after your wife of Semeramis.

Yeah, pretty much in the same way as sticking a finger down your throat touches a nerve.

I am so ashamed that so many are attacking Beck for calling America back to God.....

Only Born Again Conservative Evangelicals would see the significance...and there are even those that are poopooing the message because Beck delivered it....well then, what about Palin.

I WAS THERE and I was impressed and I’m a former Lay Pastor of a very large and conservative church.

Beck did not deliver a MORMON message....he delivered a message of TRUTH one that I personally embrace.

America is doomed unless it falls on its knees and repents of its evil.

Its simple and we’ve seen dozens of civilizations fail in the past for the same reasons.

***I am so ashamed that so many are attacking Beck for calling America back to God.....***

And just which god do you think Beck was referring to?

The God of Abraham, Issac and Jacob?

Or the god concocted by the shyster Jos. Smith?

And by the way, Becks words were laced with Mormon theology.

***Beck did not deliver a MORMON message....he delivered a message of TRUTH one that I personally embrace.***

Are you a Mormon?

If not why do you accept spiritual advice from one?

***Beck did not deliver a MORMON message....he delivered a message of TRUTH one that I personally embrace.***

Participating in a service with pagans is not pleasing to God.

The only answer to our problems is for the Gospel to be clearly preached. That is what brings revival. Not latching onto a pagan message.

***well then, what about Palin***

What about her? Political expediency is a pathetic thing.

again in a POLITICAL rally I can put aside differences..BUT Glenn stressed this was NOT A POLITICAL rally it was a revival .

Unfortunate choice of a word by Beck because as you say, "revival" has a specific theological meanings to many. He should have said not a partisan political rally. You don't get hundreds of thousands in any venue, you don't get thousands, without it being political. By definition, what occurs in the polis is political.

Ever look at Political Sermons of the American Founding Era, 1730-1805?

Eighteen hundred pages of sermons. And that is only a sample of what is extent. There are boxes filled with more at Yale and other universities. Ministers were all over the place theologically (as Adams' letter above to Jefferson indicates). There is a companion two volume, 1500 page set to the sermons: American Political Writing During the Founding Era, 1760-1805

Those writing are drenched in religious rhetoric (just as many of the sermons were political). There was no separation of church and state during that era.

That is what I believe Beck is trying to recreate. A movement which includes everyone and which encourages Americans to unite on the virtues we all hold in common. He is also doing much what JPII did when he told the Poles in 1979: You are not who they say you are. You cannot know your country, your culture or yourselves unless you look at your history.

Why not look at this as an opportunity? A restoration of hope, faith and charity will make it easier for you to testify to your faith. Sure you know how difficult it is to get people out of a hedonistic, materialist and often nihilistic mindset before they hit bottom. Difficult to fight relativism. Beck and others are breaking up the soil. You can plant the seeds you believe should grow.

You have a point, if we don’t count Back’s constant references to prayer, god, etc.

I believe the type of “revival” some are thinking of is when people are called forward to accept Christ.

Merely restating what were nearly universal beliefs at the time of the founding is not that type of “revival”.

Obviously.

I can remember reading about the worshippers of the golden calf. They had high family values and were absolutely sincere in their worship

****

That is not what I remember they were fornicating and all other types of ungodly behavior that is why they never received the higher law when Moses return...

If you really watch his shows you would know he did not deni his faith yet he keep it subdue because the most important thing about this clarion call is for all people stop being complacent and start walk daily with the God of their faith and there is a common thread the Judeo/Chirstian Ten commandments.

He does not go and stick his nose in others faith short finding accept for Social Justic which is the real fraud here!

The wallbuilder David Barton is a southern Christian who for years struggled with his message and now through Beck more folks are aware of all of his hard work and detication of personal expense he had no endowment for his project now all of us get to benifit from his knowledge!

It is really erries it like what one once studied in history when folks fought over religion and now it seems to have come full circle.

I wonder how many have asked the Lord for understanding to things which seem alien to them or did they just take it upon themselves to rail against something the Lord never encourage them to do?

Resty, I asked the Lord for understanding and He instructed me to think about it in this way: How is it that Glenn Beck is touting the Founder's faith, their Christianity, when Beck's own religion claims all of Christianity was in apostasy until Joseph Smith claims he restored real Christianity, and Mormonism had not yet been fabricated at the time the Founders' lived? Could it be that Christianity did not need smithian restoration thus the Founders were Christians in good standing, inspired by God, as in Divine Providence?

Perhaps you would like to find the answer to that from those feeding you material to post at FR.
