“ccept lots of people.....but I couldn’t attend a church with a homosexual man or woman ever....

its one thing to “accept” people for what they are...its quite another to have social interaction with them....to make them such an important part of your life.... “

You obey God rather than man. God forbids homosexuality completely, and no one indulging in it qualifies for any sort of pastorate.

Rebellion against the papacy is not equivalent to rebellion against the clear teachings of the Holy Scriptures.

“The simple fact is that Protestantism is rebellion. “

No actually it is Truth. You are part of a deluded organization. You are blinded to the Truth, just as the Pharisees were. You are part of a human created religion that is not of the Truth.

I hate to write stuff like this on this forum, but when idiocy like yours is posted, I cannot hold back.

You are blinded to the Truth

Reading the mind of another Freeper is a form of "making it personal."

Discuss the issues all you want, but do not make it personal.

and I thought politics was difficult. Vlad’s comment ... is it imprudent or uncharitable or just arrogance? I don’t have the theological training to decide.

But I’m glad that the Lutheran coffee social that I occasionally attend is Missouri Synod. Otherwise, I’d hafta go drink at the coffee shop.

P.S. God is smart.

Lutheran CORE is a coalition of pastors, lay people, congregations and reforming groups. We seek to preserve within the Lutheran churches in North America the authority of the Word of God according to the Lutheran confessions. Our intention is to work with congregations, individuals, and other reform-minded groups for the renewal of churches, by: 1. Encouraging individual reform-minded congregations, laypersons, and pastors. 2. Supporting and offering coordination for the various Lutheran renewal groups in North America. 3. Addressing significant theological issues. Among a host of issues, there are four that trouble us most deeply. These are: * the need to affirm the authority of the Word of God within and throughout our church; * staying focused on the Great Commission to make disciples of Christ; * preserving in teaching and worship the biblical name for the triune God: the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; * and our profound concern over changes in doctrine and practice regarding marriage and sexuality. Taken from the Lutheran CORE homepage. This page also lists congregations which are on board with these teachings. Word Alone ministries is another group within the ELCA looking to put the brakes on the train before it becomes little more than the proverbial hand basket.

I don't think this is what Martin Luther had in mind.

If the Catholic priests were not chasing money and little boys for the last 1,000 years, perchance there would be no Protestants.

Sinfulness on the part of many does not legitimize heresy or rebellion on the part of some.

It is. What it isn’t is a new denomination founded in rebellion.

Actually they are one in the same since the papacy is scriptural. Protestantism invented new hereies, revived old ones and fragmented into tens of thousands of sects.

No, actually I am a member of the Church founded by God while Protestants are members of sects founded by men in the 16th century and there after.

“I hate to write stuff like this on this forum, but when idiocy like yours is posted, I cannot hold back.”

Since all Protestant sects are recent creations - creations by men - by definition, the idiocy is apparently all yours.

Not true. For one thing, the whole corruption complaint against the Church in the 16th century is blown way out of proportion. Second, the Protestants were corrupt from the start and drunk with power and greed. The seizing of Catholic properties proves that immediately. http://www.the-orb.net/non_spec/missteps/ch11.html

"It is. What it isn’t is a new denomination founded in rebellion."

they decided to follow the Bible's command to flee Babylon rather than accept the sacrament of molesting little boys.

I have a PhD in history with an emphasis in Church History

Well, I have my doubts about that. How can you seriously look at the writings of Luther and Calvin and characterize them as 'unfettered rebellion' unless, of course, you are operating with an over ridining bias?
