Catholic Clergy Still Embrace Heretical "Replacement Theology"
Amerisrael ^

Posted on 10/24/2010 3:55:27 PM PDT by Amerisrael

So evidenced by un-Biblical and "Christian anti-semitic" statements made during a  synod gathering of 185 Catholic clergy in St.Peters Basilica.

Former Israeli Ambassador to the U.S. Daniel Ayalon decribed this Vatican synod as a forum for Arab propaganda

I agree 100%.

The church is not the "new" Israel.

This heretical false doctrine, whether it is refered to as "relacement theology", "successionism", or "supercessionism", weaseled it's way into the church sometime after non-Jewish gentiles became the majority of believers and followers of the Jewish messiah Yeshua [Jesus].

A brief note on the english word "church":

The word rendered as church in modern english Bibles dates back to the Middle Ages. That is, the modern recognized spelling of the word.

1st Tim 3:15 plainly states that the church is the "house of God".

Throughout the Bible the House of God is also refered to as the temple of God.

In Matt Yeshua [Jesus] stated that the one who hears his words and does what he says is like a person who builds their "house" on a rock. And when the storms come, that house will not 'fall' because it is built on a rock.

In John 2:19 Yeshua [Jesus] said,-

"Destroy this temple [ House of God] and in three days I will raise it up again."

Zechariah 6:12-"...behold the man whose name is the Branch; and he shall grow up out of his place, and he shall build the temple of the Lord"

In Scripture the God of Israel is frequently refered to as the "Rock".

David said "You oh Lord are the "Rock" of my salvation.

"The God of Israel said, the Rock of Israel spake to me..."-2nd Samuel 23:3

God is the Rock

Israel has expanded, to include all who walk in the faith of faithful Abraham, no matter what their racial background might be.

Come on now, even OT Israel was a community of faith, not just a master race. Gentiles who were willing to enter into covenant with the God of Israel were incorporated into Israel. See Ruth and Caleb, e.g. The process of adoption has simply gone global. Embrace the God of Israel, and be counted by Him as a member of His covenant people. Nothing complicated about that!

Reject the God of Israel, and no matter what traditions you pony up, you are not of the Israel of God.

Have you read any of the New Testament?

Christ is the New Covenant — the second person of the Trinity.

He died for all mankind, including those in Israel.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen

The statement by the synod of Catholic bishops from the Middle East seems to reflect not a genuine theological change but two little-reported realities on the ground: (1) Catholics in Muslim lands are under brutal pressure from Muslims; and (2), outside of tourist areas, the Israeli government and Israelis themselves are often less than congenial to Christians, with Catholic clergy often subject to abuse and harassment from Orthodox Jews even when Israeli police are present.

The Corporate Conversion of Israel
By Jimmy Akin

Quote:
Since Catholics are not dispensationalists, they frequently assume that we hold the views of replacement theologians.

That is not the case. The Church regards both Jews and Christians as complimentary and overlapping peoples of God. We are both elect. Those Jewish individuals who are also Christians might be regarded as doubly elect, or elect on two grounds. While the Church is the New Israel, this does not obliterate the identity of the Old Israel, nor deprive it from playing any role in God’s plan of the ages. In particular, it does not remove the prophesied conversion of the Jewish people in the last days.

This in turn causes problems for replacement theologians. When they encounter Catholic recognition of the special status of the Jewish people, they may be inclined to regard Catholics as proto-, crypto-, or pseudo-dispensationalists.

Yes, there may be a New Covenant, but ALL the promises previously made to Israel remain. The "church" did not suddenly step into the shoes of Israel to reap the promises God made to them. Otherwise, He would be a liar!

The poor embattled Christians - they are caught between a the jagged rock - mohamed’s cult - and a hard place - Israeli Jews who have not accepted the messiah.

**”Destroy this temple [ House of God] and in three days I will raise it up again.”**

He’s talking about Himself, not the temple in Jerusalem.

1 John 5:
1 Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and whoever loves the Father loves the child born of Him. 2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and observe His commandments. 3 For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments; and His commandments are not burdensome. 4 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.
5 Who is the one who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? 6 This is the One who came by water and blood, Jesus Christ; not with the water only, but with the water and with the blood. It is the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth. 7 For there are three that testify: 8 the Spirit and the water and the blood; and the three are in agreement. 9 If we receive the testimony of men, the testimony of God is greater; for the testimony of God is this, that He has testified concerning His Son. 10 The one who believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself; the one who does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has given concerning His Son. 11 And the testimony is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. 12 He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life.

2 John 1:
7 For many deceivers have gone out into the world, those who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh. This is the deceiver and the antichrist. 8 Watch yourselves, that you do not lose what we have accomplished, but that you may receive a full reward. 9 Anyone who goes too far and does not abide in the teaching of Christ, does not have God; the one who abides in the teaching, he has both the Father and the Son.

Melkite Catholic bishop riles Jewish-Catholic relations

Sunday, October 24, 2010
By Martin Barillas
http://www.speroforum.com/a/42348/Melkite-Catholic-bishop-riles-JewishCatholic-relations

The World Jewish Daily referred to comments made by members of the recently completed Vatican meeting of Catholic bishops of the Mideast. The paper, which is widely circulated in the US, referred to "a number of shocking statements that appear to set back Jewish-Catholic relations to pre-Vatican II days, a Vatican synod denied the Jewish connection to the Land of Israel.

“The Holy Scriptures cannot be used to justify the return of Jews to Israel and the displacement of the Palestinians, to justify the occupation by Israel of Palestinian lands,” said Monsignor Cyril Salim Bustros, a Greek Melkite archbishop who resides in Massachusetts, in an October 23 press conference at the conclusion of the synod.

“We Christians cannot speak of the 'promised land' as an exclusive right for a privileged Jewish people. This promise was nullified by Christ. There is no longer a chosen people—all men and women of all countries have become the chosen people. "

Archbishop Bustros also called for the return of Palestinian refugees, while some of his statements were interpreted to call for the nullification of Israel's Jewish character.

Mordechay Lewy, Israel’s ambassador to the Holy See, described Bustros remarks as “returning to successionist theology, contradicting Second Vatican Council teaching and Pope Benedict himself—who has welcomed the return of Jews to their ancient homeland.”

Butros' statements concluded a two-week meeting called by the Pope to address the plight of Christians who are fleeing the Middle East.

Although much of the criticism at the conference focused on Israel, Israel Foreign Ministry spokesman Yigal Palmor pointed out that Christian flight from the Middle East is actually occurring in countries where there are no Jews.

"Israel is the only country in the Middle East where the number of Christians has increased over the years," he said.

He also remarked that theological disputes over the interpretation of the Holy Scriptures were a phenomenon of the Middle Ages. "It doesn't seem like a wise move to revive them," he said.

“He’s talking about Himself, not the temple in Jerusalem.”

Ephesians 2:20-22-

” You have been built on the foundation of the emissaries[ apostles] and the prophets , with the cornerstone being Yeshua the Messiah himself.”

” In union with him the whole building is held together, and it is growing into a holy ‘temple’ in union with the Lord.”

[that invisible temple / house of God not made with hands that Yeshua himself is the builder of.]

2nd Cor.6:16-

“...for we are the ‘temple’ of the living God,-as God said,-I will dwell in them , and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they will be my people.”

If you haven’t done so, I encourage you to read the entire post.-Thanks.

I have read it. It just seemed to that you took that particular scripture out of context because he was, in fact, talking about his death and ressurection.
