Right, each generation of Israel would have had a Mary, had the Israelites also been the “virgin” (repentful)and looking for the Messiah, someone other than Mary would have qualified. Marys on standby

Luke does NOT says MORE blessed. If you read 11:28 literally it seems on first reading to say "No, she ain't, rather are..." which is incorrect. What He is saying is yes, she is blessed, but ALSO are blessed those that hear the word of God and keept it. There is no indication of a cmparative in that verse

And he says Oh yes she is most blessed? Where

Luk 11:27 And it came to pass, in his saying these things, a certain woman having lifted up the voice out of the multitude, said to him, `Happy the womb that carried thee, and the paps that thou didst suck!' Luk 11:28 And he said, `Yea, rather, happy those hearing the word of God, and keeping [it]!'

Yea rather =μενοῦν=1) nay surely, nay rather

YOIS I presume?

Buddhists present the same argument, as do Hindus. The idols are just there to remind them that there’s a God. OK

I’m sorry, I gave you the wrong site.. its actually www.catholic.com. This site has all the official teachings of the church, Mary, the Saints, the Euchartist, etc. It is most informative. Sorry for the mix-up.

Yea hose ..Go there to find the common sense that obviously only the Magisterium has.. That is not "common sense" it is Roman sense"

I don’t know if you’ve been told this before, but we Catholics believe the Ark was an archetype of Mary, not Christ. This is because both carried the Word of God inside them.

We may disagree kindly, but at the very least, it cannot be said that the Catholic belief here is without merit. It’s unquestionable both the Ark and Mary bore the Word of God.

Actually, I’d be interested to hear the reason for believing the Ark was an archetype of Christ. For curiosity’s sake only. I see no reason to debate the topic as again, there is a perfectly valid reason to believe the Ark and Mary are similar types as well.

Please do read the Catechism -- highlighted in chapter 846 that states that How are we to understand this affirmation, often repeated by the Church Fathers? Reformulated positively, it means that all salvation comes from Christ the Head through the Church which is his Body" (CCC 846).

We would say it this way

" all salvation comes from the propitiation of Christ for our sins ...Christ is the Head of the church.. the body of believers.. the bride of Christ , the saved..

See we are not saved by a church, any church . The church is the assembly of the saved

so the ominiscient God had a little black book of backup dates just in case Mary didn’t pan out? If so, how’d he rank them? Is this some new part of the Bible you found on wikileaks?

7. The only conclusion is that somehow before His work on the Cross, Christ already saved his created being, His mother, mary.

8. The logical conclusion is He protected her from sin and in fact "saved" her from sin even before He was born.

I’m not sure where you learned logic, but that’s nothing like real logic in the “He protected her from sin” comment. There is no absolutely logical connection between what precedes and item 8.

As far as step 7 goes, this is true for all the saints like Abraham who lived prior to Christ’s crucifixion

"Your father Abraham rejoiced to see My day, and he saw it and was glad."
It was also, no doubt, true for Zacharias and Elizabeth, Simeon, John the Baptist and other who may have died prior.

the quest is ..does this give the glory of God to another? because if it does it violates the 1st commandment and is blasphemy..

Do Catholics understand that the ark led the jews into battle? Do Catholics understand that the blood of sacrifices was poured on the Ark ... on the Mercy seat, in greek the propitiation seat?

The Ark of the Covenant was placed in the Holy of Holies, the innermost room of the Tabernacle. that room could only be entered once per year, on the Day of Atonement . Access was restricted to one person only, the high priest. He had to come into the Holy of Holies with the blood of a goat, on behalf of his own and the people of Israel's sins....so does Mary forgive sins?

God Dwelt on top of the Mercy Seat

The Ark was a type of the body of Christ..It showed that ONE man was Prophet , King and priest..

The ark of the covenant

on this thread itself there is represented a couple of dozen pretty active Catholics that know quite a bit and read the Bible regularly.

The problem is 2 fold. 1st the natural man can not read the Bible with understanding .. and 2nd your church does not allow you to have any interpretation they do not give you...so basically the reading of the scriptures by "good Catholics " is like reading star wars..

And there are many more silent Catholic readers on this forum and many, many more CAtholics in the real world who do far more than "crack open" a Bible but diligently study The Word of God and grew deeper in Christ, in His Catholic Faith.

One more time, the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit for they are spiritually discerned..

You can limit God if you want to, after all Catholics relegate him to a box, or ark, or coffin or whatever it is vessel du jour.

the parable of the virgins, is Christ talking about some Marys?

Each generation of the Jews waited, still waits, for Him to come. He would not come to a spiritually impure nation. Finally He revealed to the prophet Jeremiah the date, and let Daniel interpret the prophecy. The Jews who were baptized by John fulfilled the "virgin" clause.

This is bible scripture, but I'm sure you can find it on the wikiwacki site if you dont have a bible.

Indeed if the word “grace” were dropped and the simple term “favor” used it would make for much less confusion about what was being said. “Grace” is not some magical quality laid upon or changing a person but a receipt of God's favor, not at all mystical or complicated.

Campion pointed out a difference between full of grace and Kecharitomene which means “already completely graced as an accomplished fact”. Like a filled up glass filled to overflowing being compared to a full glass.

Define grace for us?

And it is so translated in most of the bibles today

New International Version (©1984)
The angel went to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.”
New Living Translation (©2007)
Gabriel appeared to her and said, “Greetings, favored woman! The Lord is with you!”

English Standard Version (©2001)
And he came to her and said, “Greetings, O favored one, the Lord is with you!”

New American Standard Bible (©1995)
And coming in, he said to her, “Greetings, favored one! The Lord is with you.”

International Standard Version (©2008)
The angel came to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you!”

GOD’S WORD® Translation (©1995)
When the angel entered her home, he greeted her and said, “You are favored by the Lord! The Lord is with you.”

King James Bible
And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, [thou that art] highly favoured, the Lord [is] with thee: blessed [art] thou among women.

American King James Version
And the angel came in to her, and said, Hail, you that are highly favored, the Lord is with you: blessed are you among women.

American Standard Version
And he came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favored, the Lord is with thee.

*****Douay-Rheims Bible
And the angel being come in, said unto her: Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.*****

Darby Bible Translation
And the angel came in to her, and said, Hail, thou favoured one! the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou amongst women.

English Revised Version
And he came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee.

Webster’s Bible Translation
And the angel came to her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favored, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.

Weymouth New Testament
So Gabriel went into the house and said to her, “Joy be to you, favoured one! the Lord is with you.”

World English Bible
Having come in, the angel said to her, “Rejoice, you highly favored one! The Lord is with you. Blessed are you among women!”

Young’s Literal Translation
And the messenger having come in unto her, said, ‘Hail, favoured one, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women;’

Notice the ONLY bible translators that render it grace is the Catholic bible translated from greek to latin to english..
