I need some prayers over here please. My sixteen yr old son came home from school yesterday with chest pains. The pain kept getting worse and we went to the e.r. Docs said he has pericarditis, which is inflamation of the pericardium surrounding the heart. He has had a cold and cough, they figure that is what caused it. We went to have an echocardiogram today and that along with the other tests should tell us for certain if it is in fact pericarditis. He is on 800mg of ibuprofen 3x per day. Today has been very difficult and very scary. Please send a prayer for him. He is an honor student who is very active in the NJROTC and the American Legion and wants to join the military when he graduates. Pray that this will be resolved quickly and that it does no permanent damage. Thank you, mm

During a heart attack my cousin started her prayer warrior action. I’m convinced God intervened and allowed me to live. Just wanted to encourage you that prayer wrrks and a lot of us have said a prayer for your son.
I had that. I’m fine. Hurt as much as anything has ever hurt thought.

Also you may want to ask the doc about antibiotics because sometimes the inflammation also comes along with an infection that brings along with it, inflammation.

I had a friend who had the tissue surrounding her heart harden and she retained (and they drained) liquid from around her heart several times. They finally removed it and she is doing fine.
Prayers for your son. Anything with the heart is so scary. I know my kids were scared when I had out patient heart surgery. (Figure that one out! LOL!) It’s true.
I suddenly got pericarditis seven years ago. It was my first (and basically only) “serious” health event in my life. I thought I was having a heart attack. My wife took me to the ER. They did a lot of tests. The next morning, in the hospital, I was told I had “pericarditis”. It was very scary. I got released a day later. We did a lot of reading on the web, and it was discouraging. The reason I’m writing all this is because nothing ever came of it. There was no damage to my heart, and it never happened again. They never found the cause, or a disease or anything which would explain it. It just ... happened. And then never happened again. Two years ago, the doc told me that, after five years, it was safe to conclude it was just one of those things, an anomaly, just an oddball occurrence of life. I hope that the same proves to be true for your son, and wish you well.
