Tomb of St. Philip the Apostle discovered in Turkey's Denizli

D'Andria said the structure of the tomb and the writings on it proved that it belonged to St. Philip the Apostle, who is recognized as a martyr in the history of Christianity

The tomb of St. Philip the Apostle, one of the original 12 disciples of Christianity's central figure Jesus Christ, has been discovered during the ongoing excavations in Turkey's south-western province of Denizli.

Italian professor Francesco D'Andria, the head of the excavation team at the Hierapolis ancient city in Denizli, told reporters on Tuesday that experts had reached the tomb of St. Philip whose name is mentioned in the Bible as one of the 12 Apostles of Jesus.

Professor D'Andria said archeologists had been working for years to find the tomb of the Biblical figure, and finally, they had managed to reach the monument while working on the ruins of a newly-unearthed church in Hierapolis.

D'Andria said the structure of the tomb and the writings on it proved that it belonged to St. Philip the Apostle, who is recognized as a martyr in the history of Christianity.

Describing the discovery as a major development both for archeology and the Christian world, D'Andria said the tomb, which had not been opened yet, was expected to become an important Christian pilgrimage destination.

Hierapolis, whose name means "sacred city", is an ancient city located next to the renowned Pamukkale, white Travertine terraces, in Denizli province. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The city, famous for its historical hot springs used as a spa since the 2nd century, is a mixture of Pagan, Roman, Jewish and early Christian influences.

And if you want to just say the Catholic Church which fully describes the 23 rites of the Church, including the Roman, Mennonite, etc. that’s ok too — I refer to my Church as such

we don't have the same bible, we don't have a bible.

yes we know that your cult does not use the Christian bible

But, why, when you are obviously not a Catholic did you claim to be Catholic? There was this post of yours that said so and then the post went on to mock Baptists. Why?

It is the Protestant churches that are catholic, but not Roman.

HaHaHa...And that is so true...We are the catholic church but they are the Roman Catholic religion...

While catholic may mean universal, it describes the 'church'...Roman Catholic Church is a title, like Sears and Roebuck...

And why exactly does your cult say that the Lutherans and Orthodox Jews distorted the 10 commandments?

your cult, Iscool, keeps getting everything wrong -- right down to denying the nature of God and instead saying that God is a God of modes -- and stating that Jesus was just a spirit, never man. What a silly cultic belief, denying the divinity of Jesus Christ

But what more can we expect from a cult that practices taqqiyah and pretends to be Christian to cause fights between Christians

iscool, your cult says The Apostles didn't hand out or down any faith.

More words of nothing from the cult of iscool -- evidently the Great Commission by Jesus Christ has no role in iscool's cult.. and no wonder there are cults that say some great apostasy happened at the time of the Apostles...

Face facts iscool, the list of stuff that your cult does not know is incredible — zero knowledge on the Bible, History, Linguistics etc. Still your posts argue nonsense all the time

papertyger, fyi -- this same cult of Iscools believes that Jesus Christ was just a spirit, not man.

This cult believes that the Holy Spirit and Jesus are just "modes" of God -- so they say that the baptism of Christ was just a mirage.

They also, by saying that the Father IS the Son IS the Holy Spirit and that God is purely a spirit, deny both the Incarnation and the sacrifice on the Cross.

This cult has had a number of inconsistencies and keeps displaying its ignorance over and over again.

We are spreading the gospel of Christ -- you know, it's in the book called the Holy Bible. This is in opposition to your non-Christian cult which spreads the gospel of Iscool and is in opposition to Christ and His teachings.

your cult first says that it does not even believe that Jesus Christ is God and then contradicts itself by saying He was just a mode of God (of course no explanation for how the 3 modes were separate at Jesus' baptism) and finally your cult says that Jesus was just a spirit, never a man, hence negating both the Incarnation and Jesus Christ's sacrifice on the Cross

I'll bet no one has ever accused you of being honest...

So the gospel is the bible in its entirety, eh??? I am not at all amazed that you guys know so little bible, but I am amazed that you guys try to come of as some sort of knowledgeable authority on the bible that you know so little about...

Don't need to...Because if we don't have the same bible, we don't have a bible...And we have no concept of God or whether there is a God...

Where is that in the Bible?

Must be nice to be able to make up rules anytime you're on the horns of a dilema...like mohamed did.

Iscool -- why does your cult deny the Incarnation and Jesus Christ's sacrifice on the Cross?

Cronos--why does your cult worship the Koran, the one your popes kiss??? Why does your cult encourage and protect child rapists and molesters and then call itself Christian???

HaHaHa...I have never mocked Baptists...I only mock the 3 major Cults; Mormonism, Islamism and Catholicism...They are all the one, true religion...HaHaHa...

Oh, I don't belong to a cult --> you're mistaking it for your cult which does not follow the Bible

Does it follow the Koran?

why does your cult not only encourage child molesters and paedophiles but expects it as part of your cult's non-Christian acts?
