I am thrilled and honored to belong to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I am a devout Christian.
I am a husband and father. I was raised in a family of 14 children (9 boys and 5 girls, all from the same parents). I'm the 9th child. I love people. I love to serve and give. I stay active physically, mentally, spiritually, and socially. I am an attorney. I also have an MBA and am a certified management accountant.
The fundamental reason for which I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is because the Holy Ghost has indicated to me in many undeniable ways that the church of Jesus Christ has been restored to the earth with all the attendant teachings, truth, authority, rites, ordinances, and structure.
Thankfully, I repeatedly feel and sense this same personal revelation over and over and over.
As 1 Corinthians 2 teaches us, there two primary ways of learning: one of man and the other of God. In short, I joined the Church solely because God has told me to do so.
I strive to "be" my faith. My faith is who I am (or strive to be).
I daily study holy writ and pray to my Heavenly Father. I do so personally and with my family. I have weekly family home evenings with my immediate family where we talk about holy matters and how to improve our lives.
I love my fellowmen. I strive to show this love in a customer-focused, kind, and service-oriented manner of carrying out my employment. I try to the same while volunteering in church and community activities and assignments. It truly is a joy to serve others.
I attend church meetings on Sundays. I also attend various activities during the week to support and uplift the youth in my area. I attend various training sessions and other ad hoc events.
I attend the temples of God regularly to renew divine covenants and renew my marital vows.
I also volunteer in various capacities with the Boy Scouts of America to bless the lives of the young boys in my congregation. The Church has adopted the BSA program as a vehicle for exceptional training and development of youth. I fully support this adoption.
Note: The heading "I am thrilled and honored to belong to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I am a devout Christian". The "devout Christian" description is secondary to the LDS membership.
This is all about the "church" or the "faith". Can anyone point me to a mention in this profile of Jesus Christ and His saving grace in any manner except the name of the church? Does "holy writ" translate to the holy Bible..or the books written by Joseph Smith?

It is interesting that Mormons now include references to the Christian Bible, something that they never did in past generations.
You cannot be both a Mormon and a Christian, moron.
He sounds like a responsible nice guy and good father that provides for his family.
Too bad there’s not more like him.
They are not Christians but Smith cultists. They do not believe Jesus saves all your sins which is why you have to go on a mission for forgiveness.
Pray for America
I would entertain a small bet that (based on the size of their family) you are a Mormon because your parents were. Just a small bet!

He deserves scorn, indeed.
Interesting lds jesus is second to “church”.
Interesting he is an lds christian because he does stuff.
Interesting he is an lds christian because he felt funny inside and took that to be the lds holy spirit.
Also, there are several comments regarding the "restoration"....and, again...little or NO mention of Jesus Christ.
I dont care what you are, Mormon, Buddhist or Hindu...but you are most certainly not a Christian.
Who said we should scorn him. He should be pitied and prayed for that he can escape mormonISM.
He does seem like a good guy, which is why being trapped in mormonISM is so sad. Being a nice responsible guy is not salvation except in the eyes of mormonISM.
Mormons: Great people in this life. Never met one I didn’t like (though I never met Harry Reid). But may God have mercy on their souls in their eternal “home”.
“the church of Jesus Christ has been restored to the earth with all the attendant teachings, truth, authority, rites, ordinances, and structure”
Nope.
The Church never needed to be restored, so Smith was misguided.
I’ve had some dealings with the Mormons...good dealings, to be sure.
But when you spend enough time with them and get them to open up about what they believe, the Mormons I’ve spoken to will not give sovereign deity to Jesus Christ, he is just one of the gods, and, yes, they believe that there can be or is more than one god.
Maybe it was the Mormons I spoke with, but that just doesn’t hold water for me as a Christian.
He deserves scorn, indeed.
This is the Religion Forum
All the "genuinely happy, works with young people, celebrates faith, and focuses on his marriage" in the world without recognizing the grace of Jesus Christ in one's life does not translate to being a "devout Christian".
The mormon church and its leaders denigrated and blasted Christianity for 150 years. They NOW demand that Christians not only recognize them as equal, but are expected to grant them equality while the non-Biblical doctrines and practices and denial of Christian beliefs are to be NOW (under the Mormonism Affirmative Action rule), left intact even though they have been inimical to settled and accepted Christianity since the inception of mormonism by Joseph Smith.
Feel free to start a thread congratulating mormons on their good works and happy families. I'll abstain from posting sarcasm on it.
Typical propaganda (and that is exactly what it is) to reel people in. And it works, too. I feel for the image. Thank God an ‘anti Mormon’ loved me enough to get me to open my eyes that Mormonism is just a fraud.
No one said HE was terrible or deserved or gave him scorn.
You are missing the point, this man is a VICTIM! He is braiswashed and been lied to and thinks he is earning godhood and that just isn’t how God works.
No one hates this man, but many hear feel sorry for him. Christ (and Christians) WEEP for this man.
