Hi. I'm Jeff. [Internet profile of a mormon.]

Hi, I'm Jeff

I am thrilled and honored to belong to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I am a devout Christian.

About Me

I am a husband and father. I was raised in a family of 14 children (9 boys and 5 girls, all from the same parents). I'm the 9th child. I love people. I love to serve and give. I stay active physically, mentally, spiritually, and socially. I am an attorney. I also have an MBA and am a certified management accountant.

Why I am a Mormon

The fundamental reason for which I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is because the Holy Ghost has indicated to me in many undeniable ways that the church of Jesus Christ has been restored to the earth with all the attendant teachings, truth, authority, rites, ordinances, and structure.

Thankfully, I repeatedly feel and sense this same personal revelation over and over and over.

As 1 Corinthians 2 teaches us, there two primary ways of learning: one of man and the other of God. In short, I joined the Church solely because God has told me to do so.

How I live my faith

I strive to "be" my faith. My faith is who I am (or strive to be).

I daily study holy writ and pray to my Heavenly Father. I do so personally and with my family. I have weekly family home evenings with my immediate family where we talk about holy matters and how to improve our lives.

I love my fellowmen. I strive to show this love in a customer-focused, kind, and service-oriented manner of carrying out my employment. I try to the same while volunteering in church and community activities and assignments. It truly is a joy to serve others.

I attend church meetings on Sundays. I also attend various activities during the week to support and uplift the youth in my area. I attend various training sessions and other ad hoc events.

I attend the temples of God regularly to renew divine covenants and renew my marital vows.

I also volunteer in various capacities with the Boy Scouts of America to bless the lives of the young boys in my congregation. The Church has adopted the BSA program as a vehicle for exceptional training and development of youth. I fully support this adoption.

...Christians, "just like you".

Sadly; this IS the case in WAY too many 'christians'.

They have NO idea what Christianity is all about or how it came to be in today's marketplace of religion.

It's not so much their fault as the church's fault.

I don’t get why you’re disagreeing with that sentence from Marie. Most Mormons ARE decent, like most devout Buddhists are decent, like most devout Taoists are decent, like most devout Catholics are decent, like most devout Episcopalians (the clan I belong to) are descent. The problem is lostness. Some decent folks are just lost, yet they remain decent people just going about their business. Mormonism is the problem. Being trapped in a demonically inspired cult does not automatically remove the ‘decent’ from the individual ... well, except with radical Islam.

The Church has adopted the BSA program as a vehicle for exceptional training and development of youth. I fully support this adoption.

The LDS church adopted and modified the BSA program to meet the needs of the LDS church. The LDS church was the first institutional sponsor of the BSA (1913) and is permitted to adapt the standard BSA program in manners which other institutional sponsors are not. The LDS relationship is so different that it merits a comprehensive website unlike those for any other institutional sponsor.

At the most basic level, the LDS BSA program is part of the Aaronic Priesthood program and prepares boys for their mission. Here's the LDS Scouting "Green Book" and the current Scouting & The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints booklet.

Youth leaders in LDS Scouting are not selected by the youth, but by the bishopric. Cub and Tiger programs for six and seven-year-olds don't exist in the LDS Scourting. Unless something has changed recently, eleven-year olds are in a special program in LDS Scouting; there is not a valid comparison to "New Scout Patrols." LDS Scouting is designed to move Scouts out of the Troop and into a Varsity Scouting team at fifteen; hence the pressure on LDS Scouts to earn their Eagle Scout rank before fifteen. We could discuss this all day.

LDS Scouting leaders are called to the position by church leadership, rather than volunteering. The bishop has primary responsibility for training; not the BSA. When trained by the BSA, most LDS training programs are held specifically for LDS Scouters. LDS leaders are often unable to attend BSA training session even if they want to do so; the training session may be a week-long session or a weekend session that involved camping over and meeting on Sundays.

The average LDS Scout leader has a tenure of 7-9 months; the average non-LDS Scout leader has a tenure of 5-12 years.

Those aren't my figures; they come from BYU professor Brad Harris, who was a professional employee of the BSA for 23 years before joining the BYU faculty to teach scouting education classes.

LDS leaders are often not trained or are trained by LDS religious leaders instead of the BSA. This has resulted in LDS units having a disproportional representation in cases of deaths and lost Scouts.

While working with Health & Safety in the mid-2000s, reports that LDS Troops represented 14% of Scouts but nearly 70% of fatal accidents caused the LDS Church's general Young Men’s presidency to create a presentation on safety, emphasize training through the BSA, and make visits around the world speaking to LDS Scout assemblies on safety.

LDS Scouting is a form of Boy Scouting, but it's different than traditional Scouting. That said, there are some excellent LDS Scout Troops and some extraordinary LDS Scout leaders with decades of tenure as leaders.

LDS Scouting is nothing less than co-opting the program by the mormon church to brainwash young boys into swelling the membership stats of the mormon church. It's insidious.

Respectfully, I believe LDS Scouting has value to LDS youth that's unrelated to increasing membership of the LDS Church. As an institutional sponsor, the LDS church has removed elements from traditional Scouting and added elements of its own. Its leaders may, on the average, not have the tenure of traditional Scouting leaders nor receive the training of traditional Scouting leaders. Its Scouts may have limited outdoor experiences compared to traditional Scouts due to limits on camping for eleven-year-old Scouts and the prohibition on Sunday camping.

However, core elements of Scouting - such as the Scout Oath and Law - are still present and taught.

Jesus Christ is my Savior. I do not worship a false prophet. I do not worship any prophet. I worship the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. No man - or woman - comes to the Father but by Him. That is Jesus Christ who paid the price - who suffered and died - to save me from my sins. I love Jesus Christ and will ever be in His debt. I am sorry if my confession of faith is not good enough to suit some people. It is good enough for my Savior and that’s all that really matters. Amen.

I do not wish to argue with the anti Mormons on this site. It is useless and silly. Anyway, they have already taken it upon themselves to condemn me and every other member of my Church to hell. I do not recognize you as one of them, are you?

Latter-day Saints believe and confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh.

I’ve been a Mormon for over 25 years and that’s exactly what I have always been taught and what I fully believe.

If you confess He is THE Divinity Only who became human. Do you believe in other Gods beside Jesus? If you say Yes. You are wrong. I am sorry it is that important. I can not lie to you.

Seek and Pray true God to True God. I just have to tell you are wrong.

1 John 4

Testing the Spirits

1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.

2 By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God;

3 and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God; this is the spirit of the antichrist, of which you have heard that it is coming, and now it is already in the world.

Flesh means The One God became Human. No other period.

More lying for the Lord, Sandy?

The LDS Jesus only saves from physical death, your sins aren’t forgiven until you have done ALL you can do (LDS church membership, temples, good works, tithing, etc) and overcoming sin in your own life.

Perhaps you need to read “Miracle of Forgiveness” by your late Prophet Spencer W. Kimball. The LDS Jesus is just a loan shark you have to pay back. And I can give you a general conference quote on that.

Why do you care if Christians condemn Mormons to Hell? Which, if they repent, come to the real Jesus of the Bible and forsake Mormonism (like me) won’t happen. Mormons don’t have a Hell as Christians define it.

AFA worshiping a False Prophet, Smith gets much more time and attention in LDS sermons (talks) than Christ does. And I have never really seen you argue your faith on here, you usually drop out when we ‘antis’ start sourcing things.

Dallas, you may want to check out my post on this thread, where I show exactly how Mormons twist and lie about their beliefs in order to make the LDS church look good. For them, it is all about ‘the Church’ not Christ. They need our prayers that their eyes will be opened and they will renounce that false gospel.

Norm you left out the part that it was litteraly and through God the Father having sex with Mary. I can source that from your own leaders.

Also, Norm, your statement doesn’t mean much and it certainly doesn’t make you a Christian. Even demons believe that...and tremble. They aren’t Christians either.

Hi Reaganaut,

I believe in Jesus Christ, and I put my full faith and trust in Him as my Savior. He is the one who will judge whether I or anyone else is a true disciple of His.

Best to you,

“I think that the Mormon religion is built on BS, but Mormons are not bad people.” I would hasten to add that the entire of the flying Inman group —myself included— can agree with that assertion. We oppose the ISM not the adherents who are sadly misleads. Isn’t it sad how some ‘not bad people’ serve and push a lie as great as the cult of Joseph Smith?

And according to the Bible, you will be found wanting by puting your faith in Mormonism and not the Christ of the Bible.

You have been told the truth, it is your decision to choose between Christ and Mormonism because the real Christ is not found in the Mormon church.

I pray for you, you are spiritually deceived and I know how hard it is to lose faith in Mormonism - particularly as a convert. There are no second chances, it is this life or not at all - that is Biblical.

Ah, a SD post and run.

I worship the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost

three separate gods under mormonism - AKA polytheism

That is Jesus Christ who paid the price - who suffered and died - to save me from my sins.

After ALL SHE CAN DO - ie she must remove all sin from her life herself and live a perfect life in order for that death to do anything except cause her to have a bodily resurrection.

I love Jesus Christ and will ever be in His debt.

“Elder Boyd K. Packer of the Council of the Twelve gave the following illustration to show how Christ’s atonement makes it possible to be saved from sin if we do our part. ‘Let me tell you a story.… There once was a man who.…incurred a great debt.…the day came, and the contract fell due. The debt had not been fully paid. His creditor appeared and demanded payment in full.… The debtor had a friend. He came to help.…He stepped between them, faced the creditor, and made this offer. ‘I will pay the debt if you will free the debtor from his contract so that he may keep his possessions and not go to prison.’…And so the creditor agreed. The mediator turned then to the debtor. ‘If I pay your debt, will you accept me as your creditor?’ ‘Oh yes, yes,’ cried the debtor. ‘You saved me from prison and show mercy to me.’ ‘Then,’ said the benefactor, ‘you will pay the debt to me and I will set the terms. It will not be easy, but it will be possible.” —Gospel Principles, 1992ed, pp. 75, 77

According to Mormonism, Jesus refinanced the sin-debt we owed Heavenly Father. It is now up to us to repay Jesus by complying with the “laws and ordinances” of the gospel. Tell us SD have you done “all you can do” to pay your sin-debt to Jesus? Are there any commandments you have failed to obey? If so then you haven't truely repented according to mormonism.
