Gay Episcopal Bishop to Preach at San Francisco Catholic Parish
Catholic Culture ^ | 11/22/11

A notoriously 'gay-friendly' parish in San Francisco has invited an openly homosexual Episcopalian cleric to lead an Advent Vespers service.

Most Holy Redeemer parish asked Bishop Otis Charles, a retired Episcopalian prelate, to lead the November 30 service. After serving as the Bishop of Utah from 1971 to 1993, he publicly announced that he is homosexual. Divorced from the mother of his 5 children, he solemnized a same-sex union in 2004.

Gee, I don't know. How about the fact that the GOSPEL was PREACHED from the very beginning. Acts 17:6 tells us that Paul turned the world upside down with the gospel. Christ and His disciples preached the gospel before ANY church was established. Before Christ even said anything about establishing His church, Christ sent His disciples forth, "and they departed, and went through the towns, preaching the gospel." (Luke 9:6). This was early in Christ's earthly ministry. The preaching of the gospel is talked about 11 times in Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. Yet there was no Roman Catholic Church in EXISTENCE to verify that what CHRIST AND THE DISCIPLES WERE PREACHING< THAT IS< THE GOSPEL, was in need of their official stamp of approval.

The day of Pentecost finds 3000 people saved without Peter saying ONE WORD about an infallible Church putting its approval on what he preached. As a matter of fact, there is no place recorded that said that Christians, who "went everywhere preaching the Word" (Acts 8:4), needed or expected an infallible Church that existed to endorse the gospel, and verify that the gospel was true.

what we are witnessing is the great falling away from the Church that the Scriptures tell us will happen right before Jesus returns.

Satan has been loosed and the plague of homosexuality and other immorality spreading like wild fire in the Church is the result.

It's always been there...When your magisterium (whatever that is) proclaimed that all clergy had to be unmarried and uncommitted to women, the stage was set...

Your religion grooms this clergy class from childhood...And what you guys do not seem to realize is that celibacy is not a chosen lifestyle although that's what you guys proclaim...

We men are made to be united with women...Celibacy is very rare and it is a gift from God...You can't just chose to be celibate...

"Know ye not that YE ARE the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in YOU?" 1 Cor. 3:16. Satan is NOT sitting in the temple of God. The believers in this age of grace are the temple of God. And we are IN CHRIST.

In their philosophical wisdom, this does not compute...Before I was saved, it did not compute for me either...I know where they are at...

Even if they've made a decision for Christ? Even if they believe?

Paul still refers to them as *brothers*.

People fall into sin.

That's what 1 John 1:9 is all about.

David was guilty of adultery and murder and God called him a *man after my own heart*.

Lot was referred to as *righteous* Lot, a term that I'd hardly have thought applied to him considering what he did.

Will believers who sin have to answer for it? Most certainly. Paul attributed the untimely death of some believers on sin in their lives.

Will it cost them their salvation? No. Then it would make salvation based on works.

There's a world of difference between sinning and choosing to reject salvation after one is saved. The first one, everybody does. The second one is up for debate, whether someone who is truly saved can later choose to reject it.

OTOH, there's plenty of speculation as to whether someone who accepts Christ and shows no change whatsoever in their lives was ever really saved in the first place.

Genuine salvation WILL result in a changed heart and life.

BTW - the Church is not a “religous institution”, Christians know it is the Body of Christ on earth.

You are awful loose with that word Christian...And then to imply that it is your religion that is Christian is a mockery of the scriptures...

The scriptures define what the church , the body of Christ is...And sorry, it ain't your (C)hurch...

We've all been there. That's what they don't get. We know where they're coming from because we were there and used to think that way as well.

Is Bishop Niedrauer back yet from his emergency heart surgery? Not that I really expect him to do anything, but I wonder if he is still running things or if he’ll be replaced soon.

It was the Church, not a book, which gave a ruling.

And then it ended up in the 'book'... You're even close...The Apostles were not and are not the 'church'...And there was no (C)hurch...And still isn't...Your Catholic clergy and institution are not the church of the bible, nor the Apostles...

Most Holy Redeemer parish USED to be staight-arrow, blue collar, until the early 1970's. My sister and her husband lived there. I visited my sister every weekend. We would go to the 5:30 P.M. Mass there then go back to her home for dinner. She was a GREAT cook.

Then the homosexual community moved into the neighborhood in the early 1970's. The parish stayed straight until Most Holy Redeemer SCHOOL closed. It closed because the straight parents MOVED AWAY.

After that the Most Holy Redeemer convent closed...no children, therefore nuns not needed...and it became a hospice for AIDS patients and the visiting families of those patients.

Over the years the Catholic homosexuals came to live in the neighborhood as well, the straight OLD Catholics died out and the parish became mostly homosexual.

Thus the visit from the "outreworld" person of the cloth. Sad. But it was sad from the early 1970's.

The Gay Bishop is leading an Advent service, not a Mass.
I imagine the GB has been properly "vetted" for the service, otherwise he wouldn't be there.

That parish, Most Holy Redeemer, has never, in the last 45+ years, been "in trouble" with the archdiocese for doing ANYTHING outlawed or forbidden. Well, I never heard of it and it WOULD HAVE BEEN in the local Catholic newspaper. The old version used to be called The Monitor.

Archbishop Niederaur is an excellent bishop and very smart. It's necessary here. He replaced Archbishop William Joseph Levada, who became the new head of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith in Rome.

Guess who he replaced?
Josef Ratzinger
Vatican City, May 13, 2005 / 12:00 am (CNA).- Pope Benedict XVI announced today that Archbishop William Joseph Levada, until now Archbishop of San Francisco, is succeeding him as the new Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith.

My Eastern Orthodox acquaintance who pays attention to Roman Catholic Church politics was aghast when Pope Benedict named Archbishop Levada to succeed him.

Welllllll

since the Ashteroth-Mary-Goddess cult purportedly chooses what’s up/down, good/bad;

who God’s Mummy is;

when said Mummy gets to join the ‘hypostatic union of the Godhead’

etc. etc.

they probably figure they can choose when to call bad good; good bad and how to apply their DAFFYNITIONARY.

i was aghast when JP II invited all the world’s religions to Assisi to “pray” together.

i didn’t see him lift up Jesus Christ and preach him to all these pagans, which included hindus, sieks, muslims, animal worshippers, etc. etc.

could have been the most disgraceful act i ever saw, i knew the end was near and the great falling away was well under way.

there is a small remnant though of faithful believers, just not sure any of them are bishops or cardinals.

does “genuine salvation” result in telling continuous and delibrate “untruths” about what the Church teaches and believes?
