Why would you remark about the python strangling other people? That does not show concern and was unnecessary.

Ummm, lawyers, politicians and bureaucrats are NOT “God’s Creatures”. Now your conscience can be clear when you don’t swerve for any of them. ;)

I’ve never had a snake, but I adore my pets too so I sympathize! This may be an ignorant question but . . . do snakes have a smell? What about hiring a “sniffer” dog? I saw a video about a guy who trained his beagle to be a sniffer for bedbugs (of all things!) so I’m thinking maybe a dog could find a snake as well. Best of luck!!!

Dear Lord! I must kill any snake in my yard or my wife would leave me. Copperheads are way to common in North Georgia. But, if I ever found a beautiful Boa or a Python even my wife would understand it was someone’s pet. I will be praying for Alice to return.

One likes cheeseburgers, the other likes mouseburgers.

I think Ladysmith has a good point: Look UP as well. The one time a snake got into my parents’ house (I think it was a kingsnake), it was actually up in the attic. We only found out about it because when it crawled, it disturbed a wire that had been threaded up through a paneled ceiling. (Kinda creepy: the wire seemed to move all by itself!) We removed the ceiling panel and . . . snake!! Anyway, if there *is* an “up,” make sure you search there as well! Again, best of luck finding Alice!!

Come to think of it, they both hunt mice.

That’s actually not a bad idea (assuming someone nearby has a bloodhound).

Let the dog sniff the cage bedding and then see where he goes.

"Are you serious?"

"He eats frozen mice because he can’t even strangle a live *mouse*, let alone a person."

"He’s barely four feet long and not even 2 pounds.

I didn't know yours wasn't big enough but it has been known to happen.

I hope you find him soon! Play his favorite music (stuff he might associate with sitting with you) at a normal level, maybe that’ll make him more at ease and bring him out.

Best of luck finding your pet! I know very little about snakes so I don’t have any suggestions different from those you’ve been given. We will say a prayer for Alice’s safe return.

My former boyfriend’s younger brother was squeezed to death by his pet snake. It’s impossible to describe the trauma and pain of loss that family went through.

I’ve been praying mightily for the happy return of your “Alice”. What a beautiful boy!

"Why would you remark about the python strangling other people? That does not show concern and was unnecessary."

Because it does happen. See my posting at #69. Maybe you would have no concern about a python being loose but if it was in my neighborhood I sure would. My remarks would be the same if someones pet Tiger, Monkey, etc got loose.

We are talking about a well known and beloved Freeper who is seeking support and prayers.

What you are doing is effectively kicking her while she is down.

Stop it.

That sure sounds like a Ring Neck snake.

We have them and they’re an olive-brown with stunningly bright yellow or orange bellies and a small ring around their neck, much like a collar.

You can just pick one up and have a pet, they’re so mellow.

I just finished the night’s first recon mission.

Still no signs.

Still praying.

Yes, both are under/over his tank.

I’m going to set up an infra-red ceramic heater and point it at the kitchen floor, here, shortly.

If he’s under the house, maybe enough heat wil penetrate to bring him closer to the wet wall.

Snakes can’t really “hear”, per se.

They can sense vibrations and that’s about it.

If I talk to them while they’re against my ribs, they’ll respond to me but only because they can feel the vibrations of my voice even though they don’t ‘hear’ them.

God bless everyone on this thread.

I was afraid to post because I know snakes aren’t wildly popular pets but a good friend said do it and I’m glad I did.

:)

Do you have any object in your house that produces vibrations to which he is *attracted*?
