Rick Warren’s Son Commits Suicide

ick Warren’s son has taken his own life. Matthew Warren, 27, had struggled with mental illness before his death.

Evangelist Greg Laurie posted an e-mail the Saddleback Church pastor sent to this staff: “Only those closest knew that he (Matthew) struggled from birth with mental illness, dark holes of depression, and even suicidal thoughts. In spite of America’s best doctors, meds, counselors, and prayers for healing, the torture of mental illness never subsided. Today, after a fun evening together with Kay and me, in a momentary wave of despair at his home, he took his life.” Click here to read a prayer request Rick Warren e-mailed to his staff.

Prayers and condolences are flooding into Warren’s Facebook page. And Laurie also expressed his heartfelt pain over Warren’s loss.

there is no such thing as “mental illness”. Those are the dumb doctors no knowing that the demons attack the minds of humans and for Rick to not know that show a very very severe lacking of understanding. I am very sorry that he was not able to help his son. If he could have led him to fhu.com instead of all of his bible teachings, the young man could have been saved.

>> “Do you really think Ephesians 4:11 lists EVERYTHING God has given us? Seriously??” <<

.
It does list all of the men that are qualified to assist us.

He gave us other things, but they are all also listed in his word.

Well, if your philosophy becomes popular, we won’t need to worry about Obamacare.

Will never die the “second death.”

Some take the promises of scripture that apply to the kingdom of God, that are directed toward our spiritual self that is reborn in christ’s likeness... and apply those promises to our physical carnal humanity.

The bible makes no mention of lifeguards. If you’re drowning in the ocean or a swimming pool... I want to know... do you tell the lifeguard to leave you alone and let you drown?

That’s not what the scripture says. Christ didn’t say “we will never die the second death”. You just read that into it... don’t you? You gotta learn to distinguish between promises for the spirit, and promises for the flesh.

we will all die one day.

That is a very profound assurance and we may be certain that anyone who doubts it will likely have their aspirin in Hell.

I do believe in doctors and medicine. I also believe in a few cases there can be legitimate mental illness where perhaps there is a physical causation. With that said, I also believe that most mental illness is really a spiritual illness that can be dealt with effectively by men of God who are familiar with the word of God. Most of psychology and psychiatry is mere philosophy and theory for the most part. The problem generally stems from guilt, unforgiveness, anger, jealousy, hatred, despair, and hopelessness; base on a simple rejection of God and a refusal to believe Him. Much healing can be afforded by simply taking God at His word and applying it to our lives. I speak as a minister who suffered from 10 years of addiction, who was at one time prepared to take his own life after 3 rehabilitation centers failed. I looked to Christ, discovered who I was in Him, and life became much more tolerable. That was 32 years ago, and life has progressively become more abundant with time. The One True God does and can heal the afflicted when we truly believe and apply the truth to our inward parts.

Thanks for the explanation. I'm beginning to understand now.

When I first heard I was very sad. It is a terrible tragic thing to loose a child. BUT- Rick Warren is not a Godly man, and God can only protect the people who come to him.

The fact that Rick lists doing everything for his son, other than talking to him about Jesus- shows that this man is a hypocrite.

The word of God is pretty clear what happens to pastors who take all the fame and glory and money- and do not shepherd the people in the truth. Rick has done more to damage the Christian church than any other person we can point to, in this generation, with his purpose driven money making scheme.

Reap-Sow.. it is what happens. It is really what happens.

Having been saved from a suicide attempt myself, I can witness to you that the only thing that helps is Jesus. No doctor, no pill , nothing is going to work.

So-Am I sorry- yes.

I am very sorry that Rick did not listen to the word of God, because it is the only thing that saves anyone from anything.

God can not protect those who refuse to turn to him- and stand on His word.

We should all pay attention. The world causes depression, it does not cure depression.

>> “ then all people who confess, repent, and are ‘sanctified’ should be disease-free. They are not.” <<

.
I don’t know how to show you, but that statement is quite wrong.

Very few professing Christians have achieved sanctification.

Most think that recviting the “sinner’s prayer” does all that needs to be done. That simply is not so.

Anyone that has chronic disease has sanctification issues that need to be addressed. The path is first pray to be shown your sins, then confess and repent of them, then permanently remove them from your life. It can be a slow process for some, or a near instantaneous one for others.

If you want to understand this thoroughly, get Henry Wright’s book, “A More Excellent Way” and read it. I reccoment beginning with the testimony section in the back of the book. Real people confessing what they have gone through is an eye opener.

Would it be mere coincidence that those who suffer from deep depression live in a realm of great darkness and oppression? Perhaps writing off the spiritual aspect has only served to increase and feed the problem. Could there be a chemical balance? Certainly! The problem can very well be spiritual and in most cases of mental illness, I believe the problem is spiritual. We have bought the lie, and as a result many of America’s children become addicts early on because a pill has become the answer for every twirp. Mental illness has increased dramatically in America over the past few years and the root cause in not due to physical abnormality, but a spiritual decline into DARKNESS. And the more the world laughs, scorns, mocks, and ridicules the truth of God’s word, the deeper she sinks into the darkness He turns them over too.

And since many mental illnesses are caused by a chemical imbalance, and have been considered diseases like other physical diseases....

That's what people say. Mental illness is not like any other class of disease. It affects behavior and human social interaction.

And, it affects the family.

I really don’t think so.

Do the words “by his stripes we are healed” mean anything to you? He truly does offer complete healing to those that will accept it in the way that it is offered.

Why didn’t God heal Paul’s affirmity? Why does God allow sickness? Why has NO ONE in history every reached that level of santification.... such that their physical being is restored to post fall? Because it will never happen. And God doesn’t promise that it will. The kingdom of God at this time is not about our physical self. It is about our spiritual self. Suggesting that we can so sanctify our spiritual self so that it heals our fallen, carnal, humanity is in complete contradiction to almost all of the book of Romans.

The healing is our spiritual state. Not that Christ’s stripes bring us “physical” healing. WOW......

Christ died on the cross... so we should never be physically sick? Are you really serious?

No, the healing is 100% physical.

It comes when we take responsibility for our spiritual state.
